finished sotr btw and sorry to be heartless and cold but
(big spoilers)
i did genuinely laugh out loud when lenore dove literally gasped out the book's title with her last breath. what are we doing hereeee
overall i thought this was just alright. def much weaker than tbosas, in large part due to haymitch being such a bland character/narrator (esp in comparison to snow). well tbf most characters felt underdeveloped to me. anyway not one for me.

best(?) thing about having a terrible memory is i get to experience new ("new") stuff all the time. about 80% through sunrise on the reaping and i'm like wow wonder how exactly haymitch wins the games. i'm pretty certain it was explained in catching fire but again. my memory.

i don’t want characters with healthy coping mechanisms, actually. i want them to yearn and weep and suffer and have their brutal worldviews informed and/ or altered exclusively by their unyielding love for like. one other person. sorry

two characters: flirty banter, clearly getting off on the power dynamics between them
people who are scared of going to hell for masturbating: he loves him like a son

god said let’s make a girl who will be heart achingly lonely in her bones and always feel like a stranger in this world who doesn’t belong in any room she’s in and always has one foot out the door
