can you believe that we have fanfiction. that we have websites dedicated to fanfiction. that there is a place that you can go and read tens, hundreds, thousands and thousands of pieces of writing that strangers have made. people who are not "writers". people who come home at the end of the day and have feelings and say, i am going to put that into words. i am going to share those words. short, long, sweet, sad, horny, funny, wonderful words. we are all just human and we all love to make and remake and share that with others. can you believe that.

I was typing an entire post about food issues and why I don't like wet food, until I remembered that unlike in Dutch, 'wet food' has a specific meaning in English. Just straight up deleted everything bc all I could see myself as was

Thinking about James and his hair.
Do you think he liked it when he lived in the Hall? I'm sure it was very beautiful since he's James/Anharion and everything. Emery probably mentioned it, since he had a crush on James. And James, like any Steward would, took care of it and braided it or put it up every day.
How long do you think he'd been out in the world before he cut it off? Was he sad about it? Did he make the decision, or did Simon tell him that he needed to do it? Was he alone? Did someone help him, or did he hack it all off himself? Did he cry? Could he? I think he did. It was so stupid, because it was just hair. It would grow back, except that it wasn't supposed to. It was never supposed to come off in the first place. Now they'd all be disappointed in him when he- if he- he was never going to return to the hall.
I think that was the moment that this eleven-year-old boy realized that he had lost everything. I imagine that he cradled the cut hair to his chest because it was everything he'd no longer be able to have. His father did not want him. Cyprian felt betrayed by his very existence. And James wouldn't know that Marcus had held any hope for him until it was far too late.
I wonder if he liked his hair long because Anharion had worn it that way, and even though he was seen as little more than a collared pet and an assassin, Anharion had someone to go back to every night. Someone who would change the world with his love for him.
