is it safe to shot 1/2 g of speed for the very first time? my friend wants to doctor me an said that's his dose. i want to know how it feels because when he does it it looks like so much fun. I won't shoot myself so i don't get addicted.

this has been sitting in my ask box a couple of days. I’ll give you the advice I was given (& foolishly did not take):

you said your friend /wants/ to shoot you up. doesn’t sound like a good friend to me. if you don’t really want to or are feeling pressured, you have every right to leave the situation and find help.

now, honestly, if you haven’t ever used a needle, i can’t on good conscious recommend that you start. if you smoke/snort/plug every once in a while & can put it down for periods at a time & you think you can handle not getting addicted…

buddy, friendo, pal, the needle is an addiction in itself.

even if you never shoot yourself.

I have personal experience with being “doctored.” i didn’t shoot myself up for the first YEAR that I used IV. i always had other people do it for me. i was terrified of needles, always had an irrational fear. then one day, nobody was around to help me.

then they started calling me “needles”. it was my nickname. no joke.

please don’t shoot up.

you’re worth more than a needle in your arm for the 1000th time this week because your veins have just given up on you.

the needle will turn any part time, just-for-fun user into an addict 9 times out of 10.

H O W E V E R, i do believe in harm reduction, & if you’re stubborn like a lot of us & aren’t going to listen to the advice I just gave you (or have been “doctored” with other substances & have already had experience with IV use):

i haven’t used intravenously in over three years, but i can tell you from experience that 0.50g is waaaaay too much for a first timer.

I’d recommend a test shot of 0.05g to see how your body will react. I personally never did over 0.40g even when my tolerance was sky high. My personal experience is that 0.10g is PLENTY to feel a good rush. Drink LOTS of water. & heed my warning, I would not push it past 0.13g. When I had just started out, 0.20g was nearly an OD.

Story time: My vision blacked out, I threw up & then dry heaved at least 6 times, I was in and out of consciousness (i believe fainting), my heart was absolutely out of control & I was thrown in an ice bath. I stayed up for 3 days, & I got pretty bad meth psychosis after the initial rush too. hallucinations, paranoia, shadow people, all of the stereotypical “tweaker peeking through the blinds” symptoms. the hallucinations were the worst, my insecurities & deep seated fears presented themselves. for example: i was convinced that my partner at the time was fucking this one puddle slut that we’d met, i saw it happening. I saw them in the act. he was crashing off of a 4 day binge himself. i jumped on the bed & started beating the shit out of “them” for having the nerve to fuck in MY bed, & as soon as i did, she disappeared from sight. he was so exhausted that he barely managed a “what the fuck” and rolled back over, but it could’ve been worse considering how angry some people get when they come down.

TL;DR Please don’t shoot up. It isn’t worth it. Your life has value & purpose beyond the high.

But if you absolutely HAVE to, then please take a safe dose. Test shot of 0.05g & then if you’re comfortable, after about an hour (& LOTS OF WATER!!!) 0.10g. I’d recommend getting a scale that measures that low so you’re dosing correctly.

*Syringe safety:*

NEVER share a needle.

Use a tourniquet if at all possible, but a belt works too. Clean the intended injection site with rubbing alcohol & let it dry.

Three pokes with a fresh point, & if resources allow, get a new one and try again. Needles dull extremely quick. It can mess up your veins.

Always rotate your injection site. I don’t care if you have a “failsafe” spot that ALWAYS works, i promise, if you use it too often, it will give up on you.

Don’t re-use your own needles if you can help it. Research local needle exchanges or message me privately for tips on how to get syringes from your local pharmacy.
