I 100% believe that Yellowfang lying to Squirrelflight about not being able to have kits contributed to Squirrelflight’s maternity crisis later in life. Out of a litter of four kits that she had as a senior warrior, only two survived to adulthood, and it was mentioned at the beginning of The Apprentice’s Quest that she was considered old to be having her first litter. Squirrelflight felt so unfulfilled because she was denied the opportunity to have many kits like other queens in ThunderClan, like Ferncloud, Daisy, and Sorreltail.

I’m glad that Squirrelflight later found fulfillment in having been a good mother to Lionblaze, Jayfeather, & Hollyleaf + taking care of Sparkpelt during postpartum, but it was a character arc for Squirrelflight that really showcased the effects of what being lied to about her ability to have children did to her.

This a great interpretation, one that the Erins absolutely would never think of but one I am going to consider canon regardless

Something interesting in Midnight is this quick line about how Greystripe likes to keep track of the young cats’ progress. I don’t think anyone talks about this.

I just think this is an interesting bit of characterization. It’s something he shows in Fire and Ice (he literally leaves his apprentice to see his girlfriend), but perhaps this was one of the reasons Greystripe was chose for deputy?
