His irritation was expected and the fact that he appeared to be eager to stand nose to nose with her was unsurprising. Though his attempt was futile; he was far too short to be menacing. "It would be illogical for me to attempt to translate the report," she informed him. "By giving you the text in its original language, translation errors are less likely to occur. If you have a question about a certain piece of the text, you could simply go back and compare it to the original language to further your understanding of what has been written."
She paused for a moment to allow it to sink in before continuing, "I am with Starfleet now, Commander. I do believe that I have made my loyalties clear in the past. Captain Archer promised you the information, and I have given it to you." Her eyes narrowed slightly, irritated that he had the audacity to suggest that she would disobey her orders.
Andorian Station || Closed RP with Commander-Shran
He gave her another scowl. “Of course we have,” he replied, trying to keep his tone of voice neutral… and failing… badly. The irritation came out loud and clear. “Do you intend to just remain here and wait?” he went on sarcastically. “Whilst I return to my ship and have my linguist run this through the Universal Translator?! That doesn’t sound very logical!” His temper was rising, and without realising he was doing so, Shran found himself standing up and advancing towards T’pol, his face and posture quite menacing.
"If I didn’t know better, Commander, I’d say you’re deliberately trying to be difficult just because you don’t want Andoria to have this information! Perhaps you’re afraid that we’ll use it to find a way to stop your people, next time you try to invade our territory!"

The irritation was clearly written all over him; Andorians were far too easy to read and had no control over how they emoted. The antennae indicated emotion just as clearly as their faces and T'Pol found it almost unfair that she knew instantly how irritated he was. Almost.
"I thought Andoria boasted of possessing the most advanced universal translators," T'Pol stated blandly, twisting the metaphorical knife further. "However, if the Human's language is too advanced for your translators then I could offer you a translation in Vulcan. Surely your translator would be capable of translating a language it was more familiar with."
Andorian Station || Closed RP with Commander-Shran
Shran took the padd and looked it over for a few moments. It was written in English. His antennae dipped in irritation and a slight scowl appeared on his face. Shran’s knowledge of this language was still not advanced enough that he could read it well - by now, he understood most of the basics, but couldn’t follow more complex arrangements of words, and a great many words were still unfamiliar to him - so this was quite irritating.
He put the padd down. “How do you expect me to ask for clarification, when you have written this report in the language of the….” he paused. For once, he managed to stop himself before the slur came out, but only just. “….in the language of the humans?” The accusation was quite clear in his tone.

"Though my experience with Captain Archer and children is limited, if he treats them even remotely with the attention he gives Porthos, I'm sure he's an excellent uncle," she remarked.
T'Pol shook her head. "Ryan seems to cause more trouble than he solves. A real detective would do the opposite. I'm frankly astonished that he never seems to get fired or demoted for what he does. I suppose laws were more... lax?" she asked. Though she knew a fair amount of Earth's history, she didn't know the minutiae of Earth law.
"I think his interest in her books says more about him than it does about her. Besides, children are often better judges of books—they don’t simply read a book due to its popularity and they rarely read anything they dislike." T’Pol dipped her head slightly in agreement to the last part of Captain Hernandez’s statement. "I have no doubts that he would thoroughly enjoy it."
T’Pol shook off the bafflement that people had found men like Ryan desirable and addressed the question posed. “Yes. Ryan seems to have become even more difficult in this book, unfortunately. I find it very unfortunate that Dr. Reichs seems to include him so much.”

At least there was one thing in the universe they could agree on--neither wanted to spend the smallest fraction of a second longer than necessary in the other's company. Still, T'Pol waited a beat to prove that she was unbothered by the situation and, if she was being truthful, to allow him to smolder in loathing for a few more moments. It was almost always worth it to irritate him further and a handful of extra seconds in his company was always improved by making sure that he enjoyed it far less than she did.
"Captain Archer instructed me to exchange the data with you," she informed him as she handed him a PADD. "Everything you need should be there. And..." she trailed off slightly, annoyed by the latter portion of her orders, "I was instructed to avail myself to you in case you needed any clarification on the reports." It took decades of discipline to keep her features neutral though she allowed herself the slightest arch of an eyebrow to convey her displeasure.
Andorian Station || Closed RP with Commander-Shran
Shran had not been looking forward to this meeting. Vulcans were foul, and although relations between their two peoples had improved somewhat lately… Shran still was not especially fond of them. Their stoic, emotionless personalities and their obsession with logic made them almost impossible to deal with. Talking to a Vulcan for any longer than five minutes usually gave him a headache.
Sweeping a lifetime of disdain aside would not be easy - unfortunately, sweep it aside Shran must. The information that Enterprise had to give him was of great importance, so he had to try and put his personal discomfort on the side, for now.
Why couldn’t they have just sent someone else? he thought. Oh well…
The door opened, and in she came, looking as rigid and emotionless as ever. “Commander T’Pol,” Shran greeted politely, if not a little icily. “Let’s get on with it, shall we?”

Andorian Station || Closed RP with Commander-Shran
A decade ago, T'Pol would have found the station vile. The stench of long-dead animals that made up the clothing of most Andorians would have caused her considerable nasal discomfort but, after spending so long living among Humans, the smell barely bothered her now. What set her most on edge was the fact that the reason for her visit was to exchange information with her current least favorite Andorian.
Though most Andorians were unpleasant at best, Shran was quite possibly the least pleasant of them all. Though he had his high points--aiding the Enterprise, his valuable relationship with Captain Archer, his loyalty--his temper, illogical nature, and general... existence made T'Pol wish that her captain had sent anyone but her on this mission. Still, she wasn't about to give him the satisfaction that he had made her even briefly brush against an emotion.
The Andorian escorting her nodded pointedly at the open door and T'Pol entered, spotting Shran immediately. "Commander," she said by way of greeting, hoping to keep their conversation as brief as possible.

Note
"Given our relationship with Humans, I figured picking up a few of their less offensive customs would help to create a sense of unity," she told him. "How I do or do not feel about it is irrelevant; it's merely a technique to foster... tolerance."
"On Earth, it is customary to give each other gifts at midwinter," T'Pol said, offering a pair of sunglasses to him. "Since your eyes haven't evolved for intense sunlight, these should aid you when you stay on Earth."
Shran wasn’t entirely sure whether he was being insulted, or whether T’Pol was just being logical. Probably the latter… but it felt like a dig all the same. He would respond in kind:
"Commander, I didn’t know you had a love for Earth custom."

((ALL THE THINGS
1) What made you start playing your muse?
I literally watched the first ep of ENT and was like "YEP THAT'S IT, I'M GOING TO RP HER." I actually may have told you that when I decided. I'm pretty sure I told Shin flat out that I was going to rp T'Pol as soon as I finished the series.
2) What is the hardest thing about playing this muse?
SHE DOESN'T TALK VERY MUCH. Like my other blogs have at least semi talkative characters but T'Pol doesn't make small talk so it makes it hard to do conversation-driven threads.
3) What do you find easiest about playing this muse?
idk, she has a pretty logical way of thinking that I find easy to follow? I don't have to worry about how she feels about how other people feel (To a point at least) so that's nice.
4) What's your favourite thing about your muse?
nnnnoooo this is a hard question. I really, really like T'Pol (no duh) but idk. I can't pick ONE thing that stands out... I guess how she sided with Archer/Starfleet/Earth when the other Vulcans refused?
5) Favourite canon scene/chapter involving your muse?
oh god any time she's snarking at people. T'Pol is hilarious imo (Like when Trip is pregnant and she's judging him so hard and Archer is just TRYING SO HARD NOT TO LAUGH) so anytime she's hilarious.
6) Canon scenes/chapters you can't stand to watch/read (because it's sad)?
The end of s3 when she's in a HORRIBLE PLACE and Archer's in a HORRIBLE PLACE and NO ONE IS HELPING THEM BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS BAD WHY IS EVERYONE SAD THIS IS NOT OKAY. ALSO TERRA NOVA BECAUSE FUCK THOSE EPISODES
7) Canon scenes/chapters you can't stand to watch/read (because it's badly written)?
The pon farr thing like sweet jesus why. Just. All of it. I JUST FEEL SO UNCOMFORTABLE LIKE ESPECIALLY WHEN SHE HITS ON MALCOLM LIKE WTF. WHY. At least she didn't "infect" someone else with it like in Voyager... But seriously why did they write that why why why I cannot remember anything else that happened in that episode either.
8) What do you like best about RPing, in general?
I've met a ton of really great people in rp. Like youuuuu :P Also, I just really like writing with people. It's exciting to have people who play a character and you can hear what they write in their voice and waiting for replies and making things together... It's fun! I really like collaborative writing.
9) Any RP pet peeves?
Uh yeah, enough for like a book probably. Mostly I really dislike it when people don't make allowances for their partner? Like if you want to use weird fonts/formatting/what have you, that's great! But if I can't read your blog because the font is too small/the contrast is too low or the background is too busy/stuff moves etc, then it makes rping REALLY difficult.
Also I don't like how seriously some people seem to take rp. It's not a popularity contest or a job or anything. This is for fun. So what if you have ten followers or two hundred. The important thing is that you enjoy it.
10) Anything you want to say about your muse's faceclaim?
...no?
11) Any characters you'd like to RP with that are currently played by no one?
HOSHI (though I guess Shin technically has a Hoshi...) ummm on other blogs I'd like literally any mirror character to play with on Kira. OR A PRIME VERSE KIRA I COULD BOTHER ON MY INTENDANT BLOG ALL THE TIME. Or ummmmm idk, just MORE PEOPLE. I'm not picky who they are!

T'Pol eyed the face for a long moment before considering that it could indeed be a benevolent piece of technology. It was possible that it had an advanced translation software that allowed her to hear it in English. It was possible that this was a First Contact situation. Still, she kept her fingers poised over her call button, prepared to call for help if the need arose.
"You have five minutes," she ordered.
Observing the stranger’s behaviour, Holly gave an exasperated sigh. “Hold your horses, I’m not gonna do anything to you. I’m a computer, alright?” She tried to sound as reassuring as she could, but being a little confused herself, it might not have come out very well. “Look. I was just trying to get the Hop Drive working, but it looks like I cocked up and came here by mistake. Didn’t mean to butt in. I’ll just stick around here ‘til I can get it working again, okay?”

T'Pol's eyes narrowed further at the reappearance of the intruder. "Stuck with you?" she echoed. "And who are you?" She shifted closer to the door, intent on activating the intercom if the intruder proved to be a threat. The fact that the person had managed to get into her computer was alarming--Enterprise had a high security system that was supposed to prevent hacking from Humans.
"Oooh I dunno," Holly replied. The person in front of her looked just as surprised as she was. "Must’ve been a miscalculation. Hang on a mo."
The face disappeared momentarily as Holly tried to go back to her own database. But the drive seemed to be burnt out, and her attempt was unsuccessful, so she reappeared on the screen a moment later.

T'Pol's hands rested on her knees as she inhaled deeply. She felt a sense of peace wash over her as she exhaled, allowing her mind to clear from the day's events. She always looked forward to this time of night when she could settle into her mediation and have a few undisturbed hours.
Or, she was supposed to be undisturbed.
The unfamiliar voice snapped her out of meditation and she was on her feet almost instantly. It took her a moment before her gaze settled on her computer terminal, frowning slightly at the face that was not supposed to be there. "This is a secure channel, how did you get here?" she asked coolly. It was possible that the communication's officer on duty had inadvertently patched a call through to her terminal but the tone of the person on the screen had her doubting that they were supposed to be connected to anyone on the ship.
cmdrtpol started following you
Holly’s face appeared very suddenly on the computer screen. She glanced around, confused.

//Hey all! I'm trying to get this blog back active but my unexpectedly long hiatus has made me a little shaky... so I'm gonna be doing a bunch of random short threads while I get back into the swing of things!
Also, it being December, feel free to have your character bother T'Pol with the holiday of your choice if you are so inclined. I've got one more final (Calc II though y u c k) but then I should be around!

"Jonathan enjoys his books and stories too, just generally of a different genre to me. Currently our 13 year old niece is giving him the recommendations for his reading list. It’s better than it sounds, for our niece." She felt the need to defend Carla’s book choice, if only because she could grow into a more distinguished tastes. "You know, I’m not sure Jon would mind sleeping with Porthos." Her husband, however, she could so rarely defend.
"There was a belief for a long time that Ryan’s type of machismo was desirable. Thankfully that seems to have been largely changed as a culture." She never understood why any women had been interested in childish behaviour, but apparently it had been common at one time in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. "The third book is the bikers, isn’t it. Where Brennan’s nephew comes to stay?" She was pretty sure, but she could be confusing it with the plane crash episode.
