Don’t you just hate it when half your face gets oxygen deprived and it gets all blue? Ugh hate it when that happens 😴 More like innocently tries out an eyeshadow and it blows out of proportion because you got thousands of ideas! All in all, one of my many (but realistic) New Years resolutions is to start experimenting with makeup again! So I’m gonna redo and finish this blue madness any time soon 👆 I’m gonna be laughed at per usual but that has never stopped me before 💪 Practice makes perfect!

Carla Körbes in Edwaard Liang’s Fur Alina. Pacific Northwest Ballet, The Joyce, 2010. Photo by Angela Sterling.
This duet (Körbes and Karel Cruz) begins with a series of tableaux; the dancers are illuminated for each passage of the Part piano score, alternating with blackouts during which they move to another pose. Once the musical line becomes continuous, the partnering becomes fluid and the atmosphere, while tinged with romance, remains wistful while the piano music creates a mood of raindrops - or teardrops - falling.
