The reason I love animal stripes is the confidence it gives me as a black woman. You may say, "it's just a clothing texture", but it's more than that. When I was 10 years old I had a costume party at my school and my mother was having difficulties finding what i would wear. I was a very shy child and was scared to wear a costume in front of people even though they were going to wear theirs too. A day before the party my mother had my costume ready for me,I was curious because she would not let me see it, maybe she was scared I would refuse or back out.

Anyways,the day of the party came and my mom brought out my costume it was a tiger skin jumpsuit. It looked so funny and I as a child asked my mother,"so I have to dress as an animal,you couldn't choose a princess gown or even Superman outfit". My mother replied "coco stop complaining this is not just an animal costume it's an amour that will give you pride,confidence and courage". I was too young too understand her but I tell you when I got to the party I was different and unique.

Ever since that day whenever I wear an animal skin outfit I adjust my shoulders, raise my head high, walk like a confident black courageous woman.
