Star Fox 64 Score Tracker
Tumblr media
The Star Fox 64 Score Tracker is a tool I created for the Star Fox 64 score running community HIT + 64. The program is heavily inspired by the speedrunning tool LiveSplit and is intended to not only be used for personal tracking but to be incorporated into streaming layouts to provide viewers with an indication of how well a run is going.
Tumblr media
For those interested in seeing score runs of this amazing game you can check out my streams over at https://www.twitch.tv/drazil100 or you can check out HIT + 64 for other runners within the community.  We also have a Discord server linked on HIT + 64 for any who seek to get better at the game! For those looking to use the score tracker the download link can be found here!

Ludum Dare 38: Diminishing Lands
I know it has been a long time since I posted anything but I wanted to post an update on what I have worked on since I last posted anyway.
Tumblr media
This jam actually went way smoother than Ludum Dare 36 and I am actually much happier with the results! While I had plenty of experience with Unity 3D LD36 was the first time I had actually used it for a game jam and the first time my friend I worked with unity for anything other than experimentation. On top of that it was the first time we tried using git with unity.
This jam however we both had enough experience that progress went so smoothly it was actually kinda boring. Throughout the whole jam we felt like we needed to do more and were stumped that we couldn’t come up with better ideas.
When the jam was over and it was time to actually rate games I was shocked how well Diminishing Lands was received. This was one of the best jams I participated in.
As for the game itself you play as a little guy who needs to collect a bunch the coins on an ever shifting and shrinking world. If you take too long progression can become impossible so to get far you need to be quick!
The thing I am most proud of in this project is how well we managed to get the physics to feel. I really like the ledge gabbing mechanic and how hopping up from a ledge grab on top of a platform feels and looks
If you would like to try the game it can be found here!

Bobble Battle: My Ludum Dare 36 entry
Tumblr media
Play Bobble Battle now!
This Ludum Dare was quite a different experience from my previous Ludum Dare where I made Star Buddy. This was not hosted by my college so all the work that went into it was done at home with collaboration handled entirely online.
Unlike Star Buddy we failed to match the theme ancient technology and instead managed to match about 5 of the other possible themes we could have gotten instead. Despite this though I am really proud of the game and feel it has a solid core that I look forward to expanding upon.
I would like to thank Adam Higerd and Aaron Stouder for their help in creating this. I couldn’t have done it without them!

Star Buddy: A look back at Ludum Dare 35
Tumblr media
For those of you who don’t know, I participated in my first ever Ludum Dare back in April of 2016. At the time I was (and still am) a student of Lone Star College which hosted a meetup for students studying game design.
For the event I teamed up with my fellow classmates Aaron Stouder and Mark Cheney to create Star Buddy which was a game about a little space traveler who crashes on an alien planet. Together with the help of a shapeshifting friend named Buddy they set out to gather the missing pieces of his space ship.
Tumblr media
The event itself was an amazing experience filled with little sleep and tons of pressure that pushed me to working more intensely than I have ever worked before in my life. Sure it was frustrating at times when we weren't progressing as quickly as we wanted to. I also nearly went crazy a few times when GameMaker forced me to cycle through nearly 20 different open windows at once because each function of an object for whatever reason NEEDED IT’S OWN WINDOW! *eye twitches*
Tumblr media
I am very proud of what I created for the jam and thanks to coordination from my professor I even got interviewed about the game!

Look forward to whatever I create next for this weekend’s Ludum Dare 36!
