Mortal Talk
This is a fic for a FFXIV AU I recently made, and is a sort of sequel based on this art I posted of my WoL, Arkhe, and Haurchefant. It’s more of an attempt to get back into the flow of writing and brainstorm ideas for how the AU will go plot-wise, so I don’t think I’ll expand too much on details unless asked. Anyways, onto the fic.
---
“Hey...Haurchefant? Can you connect?”
It was a lucky coincidence, that’s what Arkhe would tell himself, that Haurchefant was so quickly able to manifest and appear behind him. He didn’t need to see him to know that Haurchefant was looking at him with concern; the silence in the room said all it needed to, when usually Haurchefant would at least say a quick little greeting as he fazed back into the mortal realm to spend time with Arkhe.
“Yes? Is there something troubling you, my friend?”
Haurchefant’s tone was gentle, yet it only made Arkhe’s throat want to close up even more. “I have a question.”
“And what is that?”
“...Would you ever wanna be revived?”
The still silence was eating Arkhe up inside. He began to feel stupid for asking this question, honestly. Meanwhile, Haurchefant was taken aback by such a thing, considering it had never even been hinted at before between the two of them during their short and infrequent times spent together like this. He couldn’t quite think of an answer right away if he were to be honest, not with the way Arkhe asked it.
Arkhe was always the calm during the storm for everyone else, the solid foundation everyone could run to, but that fateful day when Haurchefant sacrificed himself for the other Scions’ safety, endured such a brunt of curses all at once and faded to dust before their very eyes with naught they could do to prevent it, Arkhe completely broke. He was lost in his grief for months, and barely able to function. It was honestly an impressive feat that he could function at all. But now, here he was, asking such a thing after only recently beginning to consistently think and act as he always did before without suddenly needing to hurry to his room to cry and mourn a bit. Still, what was that tone that he used? It was so sure, but still so shaky and distant...
“I will be honest with you...I’m not quite sure.”
“Why?”
“Well...” Haurchefant wasn’t sure how to go about such a serious topic of discussion out of nowhere, especially not now, when he’s...like this. A ghost of all things. “I would think that I would be fine staying dead as I am, having died doing something noble as I so wished to reach my end doing, but hearing such a tone of voice from you makes me question. You know many things I don’t, my friend. I have a feeling you have something planned, were I to say that I do want another chance.”
He saw the way Arkhe’s shoulders tensed. How he looked down a bit more than he already was, having been sitting cross-legged on his floor and hunched over a bit already. That little brief tapping of the tip of his tail. Three twitchy taps, the usual when he was resisting the urge to reveal his plans, and many plans he had in mind.
“If I did,” Arkhe said, “in what way would you want to come back?”
“I...What?”
“If I did have plans to bring you back, and multiple methods of doing so, if you wanted to come back, how would you want to? Do you want to come back instantly? A lengthier but more formal process? A social deal that requires more quick-witted approaches and work? A warm meal here at home? Just...I want you to...”
He trailed off and went quiet after that.
“Arkhe, how long have you had these plans to ask me this?”
“Do I really need to answer that?”
Arkhe finally turned to look him in the eye, and for the first time, Haurchefant almost wanted to look away. That look in his eyes... He didn’t like it at all. He couldn’t stand seeing Arkhe so pained and lost.
“Haurchefant, I don’t fuckin’ care anymore if we don’t ever become a thing or whatever. We had that closure with our feelings when you visited me the first time and we had our kiss over it.”
Arkhe never looked so sad, and it was all because of him... his heart sank thinking of it this way. It was only reinforced when Arkhe spoke again, his tone much shakier than before.
“I just want you back...”

FE3H AltMod AU - Mixtures
I have yet another FE3H AU I wanna start writing for, and it’s gonna have ridiculous bullshit in it since it’s centered around elements of The Sims. For context, Claude is a Fairy and Dimitri is a Werelion based on the TS3 Supernatural EP. Anyway, let’s just get to it.
--------------
“It’s up top.”
“Where?”
“It’s literally up top. Right there on the shelf.”
“Felix, you need to be more specific, there are multiple elixirs here.”
“Oh for fuck’s sake-the orangeish one right in front of your face!”
“Ohhh, THERE it is.” Claude reached up and took the flask from the shelf, turning it this way and that to examine it. “You could’ve just said that, y’know.”
“Claude you are literally taller than me and could see the stuff on the shelf better, not to mention you could just float up and look since you can fly, don’t give me that. I’ll knock that Plumbob right off the top of your head.”
“Yeah yeah, let’s just get this mixture done.”
The other ingredients had already been gathered for this new experimental mixture that Claude and Felix had been trying, and waiting by the Alchemy Station by the time they returned with that elixir. The process was slow and careful; adding the smaller ingredients into the cauldron first, mixing thoroughly, waiting for any odd simmering to slow, and repeating with the other ingredients as they progressed. Looking good so far. But now it was time to add that elixir Claude had grabbed.
“What do you wanna bet this will explode?” Claude asks as he comes closer to the cauldron and removes the cork in the flask.
“Don’t fucking say that, Claude, we can’t know until we try it. You’ll just jynx that shit with your pixie powers or whatever.”
“Hey now.”
Neither of them continued that thought, though Claude’s wings flapped a little quicker in annoyance at what Felix had just said. With a little countdown, Claude got ready to pour. Three, two, one, pour-
Oh. Oh that’s not good at all.
The cauldron growled after the elixir was poured in. That got the two to pause and look at each other as their eyes widened.
“...Did you hear that?”
“Yeah. It growled at me.”
“Wait...what elixir did you actually grab-”
No time to finish that question when the mixture began growling and snarling at them both even more, and began to thrash so much within the cauldron that it began to shake a little. A loud howl answered Felix’s question.
“Claude you IDIOT YOU GRABBED THE BOTTLED CURSE OF THE LYCAN!”
“HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW? THAT WAS THE FIRST ORANGEISH ELIXIR I SAW IN FRONT OF MY FACE!”
“YOU LITERALLY HAVE A HIGHER ALCHEMY SKILL THAN ME YOU DUNCE, ARE YOU FUCKING COLORBLIND?! THAT ELIXIR IS A YELLOWISH BROWN!”
---------------------
The rain tapped against the windows, making the quiet in the house much more peaceful as Dimitri and Ashe did their own thing, just taking time to relax a bit.
“It’s been a while since we had such nice rain outside, huh?” Ashe asked with a smile as he stood to go put his book he’d been reading away in the bookshelf close to the couch.
“Indeed, I’ve missed it. Not to mention it should be clear later on, so the full moon will be visible and I can go outside and make the most of it.”
“Oh yeah, you always turn during the full moon and go outside during it, huh? What’s that like, actually? Is it the same as werewolves?”
“Ah, I’m not quite sure, actually,” Dimitri said with a small laugh. “My kind is rare. Any other kind of animal to be found of this variety isn’t common at all, though I would like to think it’s close to the same? Though of course there’s no howling at the moon, considering I’m a lion.”
“True-”
“OUT OF THE FUCKING WAY, STAY WHERE YOU ARE!”
Ashe and DImitri almost fell off the couch from how startled they were as Claude and Felix stormed back up into the main house in a hurry, panic evident on their faces as they hurry past to get to the kitchen.
“Wh- Wait, wait, what’s going on?!”
“No time, Ashe! Claude fucked up!”
“NO IT WASN’T JUST ME YOU PRICK! JUST GET THE FUCKING WATER!”
The two were yelling and arguing the entire time they’d been hurriedly digging through the kitchen to grab assorted random things (to Dimitri at least), then bolted back out of the room and back down into the basement before the phrase “sul sul” could begin to be said. The stillness and silence in the house after that was a little uncomfortable.
“Ashe, what...was that?”
“I’m not sure?”
“You have quite a bit of experience in alchemy as well, do you know what they could’ve done?”
“Knowing how those two dabble so far away from standard routine in their experiments, they could’ve done all sorts of things...”
“Let’s just hope they didn’t open another otherworldly portal again...”

OCs - Different (Samuel and Cervus)
A quick note... Samuel is @floople-doople‘s kiddo that deserves the world and a good dad, so Cervus will be that for him. Anyways, onto the fluff.
--------------
It was different.
Even now, Samuel can’t help but think about how much different things are now. The dark, quiet, slow days dragging on from the rain pouring down outside used to be something that only made the time crawl even further. Something that’s left him with quite a few unique fears and scars for getting the rugs wet at the entryway, when he was forced outside to work on the more grueling tasks made even more difficult by the weather. It still surprises him when his thoughts shift to the new things replacing those old, horrible memories.
When he’s out in the rain for a while, it isn’t out of being forced to do difficult chores, it’s of his own accord as he takes a stroll. He doesn’t get punished for getting the floors wet when he comes back in. His mind’s now reminded him of the first time he’d actually tracked mud inside on his boots, after he and Cervus were out running around and stomping in puddles together.
Cervus...he was the most different thing of all. He was the reason that Samuel’s mind has begun to throw out the old, bad memories when he begins to dwell, and replaces them with the new, happier memories. All of the old things that left him so broken down, so worn, frail, and afraid, have an opposite scenario to them that leave him feeling at ease.
Suddenly, Samuel was snapped out of his thoughts as he picked up on a sound coming from farther down in the palace hallways. A single tone that put him on alert to listen harder, to find out what it could be. And then, he hears another. A single tone. A single note.
Samuel’s curiosity is at its peak now.
He quietly makes his way down the halls, and listens for more notes. He stops when he hears it pick back up, and more right after. A guitar, Samuel realizes. Is it Cervus getting out his guitar to test out a bit before playing another song? As soon as he turns the corner, and comes up to one of the balconies overlooking the palace gardens outside, he gets his answer, as he sees Cervus sitting in one of the two lounge chairs, and resituating to get ready to play.
“Cervus?”
“Hm?” Cervus looks right up, with that familiar smile that never failed to put Samuel at ease even further. “What’s up? Something wrong?”
“Oh, no, it isn’t that. I was just wondering if I may sit here with you as you play?”
“Of course ya can, there’s no need to ask! That other chair’s always free for you!”
With a small “thank you”, Samuel has a seat in the other chair, and watches intently as Cervus goes back to getting comfortable. He takes a few seconds to take in the silence, a common thing for him to do to ready himself, and begins to play. Immediately Samuel feels any and all tenseness he may have had before this moment leave him as he hears Cervus play, and hears him sing. This specific song is called “Windmills”, if Samuel remembers correctly? No matter the case, he loves to hear Cervus sing and play it. The sounds and smell of the rain only added to the atmosphere of it all, filling Samuel with a feeling of happiness that he could get addicted to, were he to think about it more. But he decides not to do anymore thinking, at least not right now, and just lets his eyes close with a soft smile lifting the corners of his lips.
Times like this were some of Samuel’s favorites, where he can spend time with Cervus like this with no royal responsibilities having the potential to drag Cervus away from it all too soon, and the two of them can just enjoy each other’s presence. Cervus was the one that brought Samuel peace, the one that saved him from his despair. He was the one that so genuinely opened his arms and heart for Samuel to find safety in, and he could never find a way to thank Cervus enough for all he’s done.
It was different. But it was the best thing Samuel could ever hope for, as he stays by his dad’s side like this, experiencing a life and happiness he’d never thought possible before now.

if you're taking asks for this still, a drabble for Felix with Rain?
Felix loves the rain.
It taps on the windows, and it makes the silence in the house even more still as each light rumble of thunder passes. As Ashe wanders about, gathering up everything to make them a nice and comforting dinner, Felix goes to their room, and opens the closet door wide to dig through it. He grabs a pair of black skinny jeans, socks, his heaviest coat, and his combat boots, and drapes them over the bed after closing the door once again. He changes a bit hastily, as if he’ll miss something were he to not hurry. But luckily he doesn’t take long, and heads out of the room.
“I’m gonna head out for a bit.”
“Alright, Fe, just be sure to be careful, and come back in if the lightning gets too bad, okay?”
With a nod, he’s right out the front door.
The smell of the rain fills his senses, and he closes his eyes to take it in. He lets a smile raise the corners of his lips ever so slightly as he heads out further, and finally steps out from under the porch and into the rain, a small sigh leaving him once he feels the drops of water come in contact with his skin. He makes his way away from the house, and heads for the street to follow it on his path around the area, all while looking all around him at the scenery before him. The way the rain sounded through the leaves and branches of the trees he walked under was a peaceful sound, and he could begin to feel his anxieties fading away.
If we had a tent, Ashe and I could camp under a tree when there’s no lightning like this. That’d have me out in no time.
He stashes the thought back to bring up to Ashe sometime, and continues on his stroll.
He walks by the home of an elderly woman that he and Ashe are friends with, and feels the sounds of the wind chimes ebbing in and out through his body in little waves. That sound, paired with the sounds of the rain through the leaves of the trees still in his ears, that paints another wonderful picture in his mind as he looks at the woman’s beautiful little garden, with countless kinds of flowers in bloom all around the bench swing.
Ashe likes bench swings like that too, maybe we could fix up the yard and save up to get one? Get some fairy lights too, and ask Dedue to help us out with picking some flowers to plant. Sitting with him under the trees during light showers, hearing all those sounds alongside the wind chimes, smelling all those yummy sweet smells...we’d both be about to knock out. Opening my eyes to see that sleepy little grin...I’d really love that.
Felix smiles a bit more at that thought, and is almost sad when he notices how far he’d gotten past the woman’s house.
Everything he takes in is even more beautiful to him during the rain like this, and the whole area has a special sort of serenity to it that he craves when the showers are away. When it doesn’t make him sleepy, it brings him a special kind of joy that sunshine could never compare to.
“Feeeee! It’s time for dinner, c’mon back in now, okay?”
Felix jolts a bit in surprise at hearing Ashe shouting like that, and he’s almost impressed he didn’t notice that he’d already made an entire circle around the area, and was already back by the house again.
“Coming!” Felix replies as he jogs back over.
---
Ashe’s soup is his absolute favorite.
It never fails to fill him up quickly, and makes him feel so warm and relaxed. The two are sitting in the main room on the sofa, casually chatting about small things that popped into their minds as they ate, and watched the cats wander about once they’d finished their own dinner. Ashe’s eyes are sparkling in delight as he sees Felix’s empty bowl, and offers him another serving. While he’s quiet when Felix politely declines, it doesn’t break his spirits one bit. He’s happy that Felix could manage to eat so much, and that alone is more than enough for him. And with that, he leads Felix back to the bedroom to get him out of those wet clothes, and back into his sweatpants he’d been wearing prior.
---
It may not seem like it visually, but it feels darker during rainy nights. Neither knew how to explain that, but they both could agree on it. As Ashe slept, each little breath barely audible past his slightly parted lips, Felix watched him. He took in every single feature on the face of this man he holds dearest, the one who always stuck with him through his roughest times. The one he loves the most. He’s surprised to feel the tiredness behind his eyes so early, the time only turning half-past midnight a few seconds ago, but he doesn’t fight it like usual. He nestles under the blankets, and feels a little swell of warmth in his chest when Ashe snuggles into his embrace with a little mumble of his name. He places the softest of kisses atop Ashe’s forehead, and lets his eyes fall closed as the sounds outside lull him to sleep.
Felix loves the rain.

Modern Claumitri Fluff - Babysitting
“Peekaboo!”
The happy little giggles that filled the room were absolutely adorable and contagious, and Claude laughed right along with them as he smiled down at the little bundle of joy that babbled happily up at him. A baby that he had agreed to babysit for the weekend, with a brightness to her that could make even the coldest person crack a smile when they saw her.
“Ready? Where’s the-hey, c’mon, why’re you laughing already, I haven’t even put my hands up to my face yet!” He said with a fit of chuckles. He only started laughing again when the baby’s giggles blew up into a full-on cackle, and she squealed out in delight as she waved her arms about.
These two meshed together like bread and butter, and the raw and genuine joy they had being around each other could almost blind a person if they weren’t careful when looking at them interacting. They were the best of friends.
At the doorway stood Dimitri, leaned against it as he watched the two play and laugh together with a smile of his own. By chance in her excitement, the baby had turned her head in his direction, and did a double take with a shout and her arms reached out. Dimitri walked over, and knelt down next to Claude and put a hand out or her to take, her little fingers barely able to fit around a single one of his own as she squeezed as tight as she could.
“Hello, little one! Are you and Claude having fun?”
A happy shout of “Ah!” in response, and a big grin.
“I’m very glad!” Dimitri replied, and looked to Claude to smile at him fondly. “Claude is always happy when he gets the chance to have you over. You two must be very good friends.”
“We sure are! We’re besties forever, aren’t we kiddo?” Claude pats the baby’s head, and she smiles and sticks her tongue out at him. “Aw, that’s mean, kiddo!”
Dimitri felt so warm. His heart fluttered as he watched Claude interact with people younger than him, and the compassion he has regardless of the age group. It makes him happy, and makes him love this man even more every moment that passes. It also gets him thinking. Thinking about what it would be like if there were a baby around more often. What would happen if Claude always babysat for people? Or even better…
What would it be like if they had a baby of their own?
“Hey Dimi, what time is it?”
“Hm?” Dimitri looks up for a moment, then pulls out his phone to check the time. “It’s 12:35. Lunchtime.”
“Heck yeah, I’m starvin’!” Claude grins brightly and looks back to the baby. “You hungry too, kiddo?”
She flails her arms and grunts, and with a chuckle, Claude nods and reaches over to pick her up and stand. Dimitri follows him into the kitchen, and once Claude gets the baby all comfy in her highchair, he and Dimitri set about making a nice lunch for them all.

Modern/Reincarnation AU - Hubert/Felix Fluff (Blankets)
A note beforehand, Felix is out of character for AU plot related reasons, so out of the AU he’s OOC, but for the AU this is just how he is. Anyways, let’s move on now.
-------
It was an unexpected thing, truth be told. But in all honesty, Hubert wasn't ever going to complain about it.
Edelgard relieving Hubert, as well as Ferdinand, of their duties had him at a standstill. He had nowhere to go, to turn to. He didn't know what to do in life, so the only thing he ever did at that point was keep to his office in his home and work. Writing reports, evaluating progress reports among the other nobles in the committees he is appointed in, that took over his life even further. He had no hobbies, no favorite things aside from a book or two and playing chess, and a favorite coffee. Aside from that, he was a husk, not knowing where to turn to fill himself up, so he never did it.
Until they came along.
That person, whose smile could light up the dark and foggy path in Hubert's mind, and their hyperactive and sweet joy that could bring a smile to even Hubert's own face. That heartache and depression that made Hubert feel the empathy he had always denied having, and made him actually want to step out to help and protect. That person, their friendship, their love, no matter if platonic or otherwise, has awoken something special in Hubert.
Felix has awoken the emotion in him that he always thought he never had until now.
Felix's drastic changes in time don't bother him one bit. If anything, he holds them dear as he holds Felix himself. They're a part of Felix. Felix is finally showing his true colors as he throws away all of the layers that he hid his own emotions under for so long, something that Hubert will always empathize with. Felix likes him, trusts him enough to show these things, and Hubert couldn't be more thankful. Felix voices his sentiments directly, leaving nothing in the dark with that lack of a filter of his. Though of course having autism helps that lack be more obvious, but that's perfectly okay. It's helped them get closer.
Hubert sees Felix, and all of his vices and virtues, and sees someone he treasures.
---
"I'm home-"
Hubert stood in the doorway, staring on at the big pile of blankets and pillows in the center of the main room. The tiny giggles he could hear beneath the pile had him failing to keep that straight face, and a small smile raised the corners of his lips.
"Now what might this be?" He asked.
The blankets lifted ever so slightly, and a nose and lips peeked out of that raised part.
"...A blanket nest. Come in here with me, it's all warm and comfy-... Wait...there's a lil' something ya gotta do first, actually."
Hubert huffed out a small laugh of amusement and shook his head as he looked down at this sight. It was a silly thing, but it wasn't like it was unpleasant in the slightest, so Hubert decided he might just play along with this.
"What do I need to do to be granted welcome into such a sturdy and majestic foundation, might I ask?"
"Ppff, sturdier than my asshole for sure." Felix mumbled with a grin, and lifted the blankets further to expose his full face now, with a flash of mischief in those eyes of his as he resituated to rest on one of his arms, the other keeping the blanket lifted. "But anyway, what you need to do for me is a reactionary test. You react the right way, you get to come in. Sound good?"
Hubert raised a brow, but nodded anyways. He was intrigued to see where this would go, that's for sure.
"Good." Felix's eyes narrowed, and it was obvious then that he had a plan. Hubert always knew the meaning of his gestures, but nothing could've prepared him for what he heard next.
"What would you do if I told you I really have wanted to cuddle with you for a long time? What would you do if I told you that I've wanted to hold onto you by your arm as we walk together, and maybe even your hands if I'm lucky? How would you react to me telling you these things?"
Oh. This was...
Hubert was frozen in place. Did he notice how wide his eyes had gotten, or how quickly his face had reddened as the blush spread across it, and even reached his ears? Not one bit. He could only try his hardest to find a way to speak, to find something to say, only to fail. This was a bit sudden and out of the blue, was it not? But of course Felix knew that. He may be pretty dense these days, and not able to read people well, but he was the exact opposite of dumb. He knew what he was doing right here, and judging by the way the determined narrowing turned to a squint from how wide he was grinning again, he must've succeeded in what he wanted to do. But, for the first time, Hubert didn't catch it. He was too busy focusing on how much he enjoyed seeing such a sight.
But suddenly, that sight was gone as Felix went back under the blankets. Hubert stared on, not moving from his spot.
"You comin' in? Ya passed, c'mon in here with me."
Hubert only nodded, and kicked off his shoes by the door before making his way closer. A hand suddenly shot out, grabbed Hubert's arm, and pulled him right in. He landed with a breathless "Oof!" right atop a still smiling Felix. Uh oh, now he could notice how red his face was, now that he couldn't avoid making Felix aware...
Felix only grinned up at him, and let out a laugh as he fixed a stray strand of Hubert's hair that had been messily tucked behind an ear, and didn't say a word. These two took their time to just look into each other's eyes, at the details of each other's expressions. And Hubert could feel the warmth filling him up to the brim. This fuzzy and pleasant warmth that had him craving more and more. This person, this beautiful soul that looked up at him with a near glittering brightness in his eyes from his raw and uncontained joy he had when in Hubert's presence like this, made Hubert feel happy and fulfilled for the first time in his life.
Hubert sees Felix, and all of his vices and virtues...and sees someone he loves with all of his heart.
