M4N14

M4N14 is a cartoon following the story of a group of teenagers and a rather sarcastic young man as they are thrown into a fantasy world they never knew existed. The plot is as follows.

High school students and close friends, Blair and Amelia, get pulled into a mysterious world by a man named Alestair, who claims they were destined to appear in his world, in which they meet other teenagers who had ended up there in one way or another. Will they manage to return home before dinner, or will they get trapped in a world that may need their help?

This is a really big project I'm hoping to accomplish, and I'm going to need some help! The list below shows what staff we need to pull this off.

support Polish lgbtq teens

Hey guys, you probably heard about the situation of queer folks in Poland. The ruling party has made homo- and transphobia into a new national virtue. Around 1/3 of local authorities adopted resolutions about fighting “gender ideology”. Gender transition in Poland is a very complicated and expensive process. All of this puts young queer people in a vulnerable situation, resulting in appalling rates of mental illness affecting them. On top of that, children’s psychiatric wards are overcrowded and one region doesn’t have such ward at all. (It’s Podlasie with a population of 1,8 million people.)

The poster above was made by the illustrator Szarosen. It reads “[Please] love me, mom and dad”. It’s a response to posters with the slogan “Love each other, mom and dad” which appeared across many towns in Poland. The organization responsible for those is known to be anti-divorce and has fundamentalist ties, advocating for married couples staying together despite home abuse. Szarosen’s drawing points to the lack of support, discrimination and even violence which many queer kids have to face, sometimes from their own families.

We have Episode One written, and are currently working on storyboarding, but before we can move to animating, we need a voice actor for Echo!

You don't need any voice acting experience (a lot of our VAs have done musical theatre or something before, but while that's encouraged it's not required) or a fancy mic or anything, you just need to be Indigenous and be believable as a 14 year old.

What would crossing the picket line be considered with this strike? I'm seeing people say support them, but does that mean I stop watching streaming services for the entirety of the strike? Or would it be something different?

As far as I know, no one is currently calling for a boycott. A boycott probably wouldn’t be too effective anyway cause no new content would be coming out if the strike lasts more than a month. Crossing the picket line would be accepting work in formerly union positions (aka scabbing). Right now the best way to show support is just to be loud on social media that you will stand behind IATSE in whatever they ask. I’m sure IATSE will have more information that I guess I can share here once the strike vote is held.

People on here still talk about the 2007 writers’ strike 14 years later, yet it’s been crickets regarding the upcoming potential IATSE strike. THIRTEEN locals might be striking, the entire entertainment industry could potentially shut down, all because studios refuse to basically give workers human rights (one of the things they are fighting for is meal breaks. MEAL BREAKS!). In fact, studios want to get rid of meal penalties entirely and DOUBLE the already substantial hours needed to qualify for healthcare. David vs Goliath in it’s finest form.

In this house we support IATSE. I don’t want to hear anyone fucking complaining about their shows — including the one I work on — being delayed. For too long, production crews have worked long and hard and put their lives on hold and in some cases even in danger. And for what? For your entertainment? This strike, nearly 99% of production workers deemed it essential to make this industry a place they want to work in again. We MUST support them. We must make this industry a safe and healthy one. If it means I don’t get new episodes of shows I like for a little while, so fucking be it. If you see anyone who don’t understand why this is completely necessary, direct them to me, or better yet, to ia_stories on Instagram. Union strong.
