Divine Mocha
[Fairview]

We saw Divine Mocha as we were driving through the back roads to get to Ikea. (its our fourth, or maybe fifth trip in the past two months..I don’t want to talk about it...) Anyways it looked so interesting, and kind of like it was from another century, that we had to stop.
When we walked someone came out right away to greet us and take our order. The outside might give the impression of an old fashioned coffee shop, but their menu and equipment are all very up to date. We made conversation and some jokes about a man who had recently escaped from jail only to be caught because he couldn’t walk in high heels! (I guess he was cross dressing in an effort to disguise himself). It goes to show that things are not always how they appear.

What we got: We got a Vanilla Latte
Food: They serve sandwiches, ice cream, and pastries

Location: 2010 NE Fairview Ave, Fairview, OR 97024
Hours: Monday - Saturday 7AM -5PM
Pricing: $
Fun fact: They are located right next to a creek with a very special willow tree whos bark has formed in the shape of a woman. They have a painting on their window of the willow, as well as a picture inside.
Social Media: You can follow Divine Mocha on Facebook
Rating: 7/10*
I want to stop back in and try their ice cream! My coffee was okay. i usually like to go to a place more than once to really get a good idea of what their coffee is like on a more consistent basis, so this rating will probably change sooner than others. Overall it was a great place to visit! I love finding places like this just by driving down the road.

Cornell Farm Cafe

The first time we visited Cornell Farm cafe the coffee was prettty bad. There was a new barista in training making our coffee, and her trainer was busy fielding a seemingly never ending stream of questions from a customer with a very thick accent. We decided to come back on a different day so that we could give a more accurate review.
Our second visit was great. The place is pretty busy every time we’ve gone in (three times now), but they have always been able to get our coffees to us in a timely manner. This time we were able to stay, get some food, and walk through the greenhouses and gardens. It’s a great place to relax and pretend you’re in a small town somewhere else instead of just ten minutes away from the bustle of downtown Portland.

Serving + what we got: They serve Sleepy Monk. We got a Latte, a Vanilla Latte, Drip Coffee, and black tea.
Food: They serve pastries, and have a small menu of breakfast and lunch items. We got a croissant breakfast sandwich, and a couple pumpkin muffins. They also serve beer, cider, and wine.
Location: 8212 SW Barnes Rd, Portland, OR 97225
Hours: Daily 7AM - 6PM
Pricing: $$$
Fun fact: Cornell Farms is in fact a fourth generation family farm. They sell plants, flowers, and supplies for your home and garden.
Social Media: You can follow Cornell Farm Cafe on Twitter and Instagram
Rating: 8.5/10*
The coffee was great! Definitely a cute spot for breakfast, brunch, or to stop in when taking the back roads in or out of downtown. I have driven past it a bunch of times in the past, but didn’t stop in until I started my quest for ALL OF THE COFFEE. Anyways, I’m glad we did because now I know of a great spot to get some coffee, and to shop for gorgeous flowers and plants.

Heart
[Downtown]

The shop is in the upper blocks of the downtown area, near the Pearl district and across from Tasty n Alder. There is a very specific ‘Portlandia’ vibe to this shop. The shop is pretty small on the inside, but the wall facing the road is all windows which gives it a well lighted, spacious feel. The baristas are usually congenial, and they know their coffee very well.
When we went in this time I had another customer, obviously a regular, come up while I was just vaguely rambling about being over caffeinated and start a conversation with the barista I was talking to. One one hand I love a shop that appreciates their regulars, but on the other I also love a shop that makes me feel welcomed and respected as a customer.

Coffee: Heart roasts their own coffee; sourced from Central America, South America, and Africa. We got a Vanilla Latte with their special Cashew-Almond Milk blend, and an Americano.
Food: They serve pastries, and chocolate occasionally.
Location: 537 SW 12th Ave, Portland, OR 97205
Hours: Monday - Friday 7AM - 6PM // Saturday & Sunday 8AM - 6PM
Pricing: $$$$
Fun fact: Heart offers a subscription program through which you can receive one bag of freshly roasted whole bean coffee weekly, monthly, or bi-monthly.
Social Media: You can Follow Heart on Instagram and Twitter

Rating: 8/10*
‘Every time I go in this shop I want to like it more than I do. I have have heard good things about it from so many magazines, and online articles. Their coffee is good, their baristas are well trained, and the location is very well placed. I know that a lot of people love the place. It just doesn’t have the wow factor, or the comfort factor I look for in a coffee shop. I would still go back if I was in the area and in need of some coffee. I would also recommend it to anyone who was going to a restaurant or bakery nearby.

The Lost Beans
[100% Kona Coffee]

Serving + what we got: Their house coffee is 100% Kona Coffee sourced directly from Kona and their espresso is from various local PDX roasters.
We got a Coffee On Da Rocks (iced house coffee), and a White Chocolate Mocha
Food: They serve pastries, bagels, and meat or veggie dogs.
Atmosphere: The Lost Beans is in a food cart, or more accurately a coffee cart. They have a pretty big overhang so you don’t have to stand in the rain (or Sun?? God forbid we ever see it) if there is a line, and a table if you want to hang out and relax.
Staff: We’ve been there twice, and they are great! Very kind, excited to talk about why Kona coffee is so special and delicious, and at the same time extremely complimentary of the local roasters here in Portland.

Location: 4810 SW Western Ave, Beaverton, OR 97005
Hours: Monday - Wednesday 7AM - 2:30PM // Saturday & Sunday 11AM - 5PM
Pricing: $$
Fun fact: This is likely to be the only place in the Portland area that you will find authentic 100% Kona coffee
Social Media: You can follow The Lost Beans on Twitter and Instagram (They’re pretty active on social media, so you will see promotions and new/specialty drinks often!)

Rating: 9.5/10*
Their Kona Coffee is outstanding. I loved everything about it. As soon as I get better at describing coffee I will try to a more accurate job of describing the flavor, but for now I would describe it as earthy- robust, but in a subtle way. They have a lot of different specialty drinks. Most of them very sweet (with milk substitutes of course), so there is something for everyone. I would recommend this place to anyone who is in the area, or who wants to try some real Kona Coffee. Be warned, you probably won’t go just once.

Water Avenue Coffee
[Water Ave location]

Serving + what we got: Water Ave. roasts their own coffee. We got their s’mores mocha featuring marshmallow and graham cracker from Ninteen27 S’mores and a Honey Almond Latte.
Food: They serve breakfast, soups and salads, and pastries.
Atmosphere: Maybe it was the weather, or the blue lighting, but the shop has an almost serine feeling to it.
Staff: The baristas were quick, charismatic, and give good information on the drinks.

Location: 1028 SE Water Ave #145, Portland, OR 97214
Hours: Daily 7AM - 6PM
Pricing: $$$
Fun fact: Water Ave. was started by a father and son team who have become extremely prominent figures in Portland's coffee industry and culture.
Social Media: You can follow Water Avenue on Instagram and Twitter

Rating: 9/10*
I love the shop and location. The s’mores mocha was to die for! My honey latte was a little on the sweet side, but still great quality. We will definitely come back when we are in the area or next time we stop by Clive Coffee next door.

180 Xurros & Xocolata
[Local Roasting Co.]

Serving + what we got: Local Roasting Co. We got a Bombon (condensed milk + 2 shots of espresso) and an Americano.
Food: Xurros! We got Xuixos (the puff pastry), and the monthly special mini Xurros (stuffed with vanilla rice pudding, topped with pistachio sugar & rose petals) All of their products are made fresh daily in small batches. They source their ingredients locally, and support local businesses. The chocolate they use for coffee drinks and Xocolata comes from Cocanú.
Atmosphere: It was pretty empty when we went in, but that was probably due to the fact that is was Easter Sunday. I’ve seen a few of their Instagram posts and it looks like they get pretty busy. Which makes sense since their xurros are delicious.
Staff: Everyone we spoke to was very friendly, and they were able to explain everything on the menu- which was helpful because its a bit of a confusing read if you’ve never been there before. They have a display out as well that gives a visual representation of each food item.

Location: 2218 NE Broadway Portland, OR 97232
Hours: Sun - Thurs 8AM-8PM // Fri & Sat 8AM-10PM
Pricing: $$
Fun fact: They got their name from the temperature they use to fry the xurros so perfectly, 180 degrees Celsius.
Social Media: You can follow 180 Xurros on Twitter and Instagram
Rating: 8/10*
We had a lot of fun visiting 180 Xurros & Xocolata! The xurros were amazing, and the coffee was pretty damn good. Everything you order is going to be sweet though, so be prepared! It was nice to have an Americano to balance out the sweetness of our food and Bombon.

Sisters Coffee Company
[The Pearl]

Serving + what we got: Sisters roasts their own coffee. We got a Vanilla Latte and a Black Butte Bomber (house coffee with a shot or two added)
Food: They offer a selection of pastries, and various other snack items.
Atmosphere: When we went in it was super crowded. We were still found good seating, and even though it was relatively loud with chatter we were still able to carry on a conversation.
Staff: The barista was polite, explained a question I had about one of the drinks, and did everything in an efficient manner.

Location: 1235 NW Marshall St. Portland, OR 97209; This is their second location. Home base is in Sisters, Oregon
Hours: Mon-Fri 6am-6pm / Sat & Sun 7am-6pm
Pricing: $$$
Fun fact: They have been family owned and operated since 1989
Social Media: You can follow Sisters on Twitter and Instagram

Rating: 8/10*
I love the way the shop looks. The cozy upstairs is great if you’re lucky enough to get a spot. I liked my latte and would definitely get one again next time in in the area. The Black Butte Bomber was intense. Not my favorite drink, but if you need a good punch in the face to wake you up that is the way to go. Visiting this shop really made me want to check out their primary location!

Food: MapleWood has a full breakfast and lunch menu. They also serve beer, wine, and housemade mimosas.

I really enjoyed our visit to Maplewood Coffee & Tea. The coffee was good, the shop was cute, and they serve Petunias Pies & Pastries which is always a good sign. I plan on stopping in again for breakfast, and one of their delicious looking mimosas.

JoLa Cafe
[Johns Landing Portland Coffee Shop]

Serving + what we got: JoLa is partnered with Coava, and Stumptown serving Stumptown cold brew, and Coava everything else (coffee, obviously). We got a Vanilla Latte, and an Espresso Con Panna.
Food: Jola offers an extensive breakfast and lunch menu, as well as an adult beverage menu (beer and wine) for those who need something a little stronger, or just want a beer, whatever. They also offer pastries from Petunia’s (delicious, gluten free, vegan pies & pastries).
Atmosphere: The whole shop is very open and inviting. There are a lot of different places to sit, so you are more likely to get some space to yourself if that’s what you’re looking for. They had the Black Eyed Peas playing, and then switched to some more old school hip-hop.
Staff: The baristas that were working when we stopped in were friendly and fun to talk to. We sat at the bar for a little bit and joked with them about different types of music and strong espresso.

Location: 5915 SW Corbett Ave, Portland, OR 97239
Hours: 6AM - 7PM Daily
Pricing: $$
Fun fact: JoLa is family owned
Social Media: You can follow JoLa on Twitter and Instagram

Rating: 8.5/10*
I had a really good time on our visit to JoLa. I used to go to a yoga studio in Johns Landing, and would often pass by, but never stopped in. I’m so happy that I finally did! I loved my latte, the atmosphere, and location. I definitely plan on stopping in again.

Bucer’s Coffeehouse & Pub

Serving + what we got: Bucers roasts their own 100% Arabica coffee fresh weekly. We got a Cuban Coffee Con Leche, and a Chai Latte with coconut milk.
Food: They offer fresh baked pastries, breakfast items, lunch, and some dinner items as well all made in-house. Vegetarian and gluten free options are available.
Atmosphere: It can get pretty busy, but you are still likely to find a good place to sit down. Bucers looks about the size of a normal coffee shop when you first walk in, but once you start to head towards the back you’ll find three more rooms of varying size.
Even though it can get pretty busy there tends to be a calm, relaxing atmosphere that makes you want to stay and read one of their many books, or just relax with or without company.
Staff: The baristas are always very friendly and welcoming. They answered every question I had for them and seemed happy to talk about Bucers, coffee, and Moscow in general.

Rating: 10/10*
I love to stop in to Bucers when I visit Moscow. Their coffee is amazing, and the whole place is so unique and friendly that it makes me want to hang out indefinitely. Which is exactly how a coffeehouse should make you feel, in my opinion.

One World Cafe

Serving + what we got: Landgrove Coffee. We got a Vanilla Latte and an Americano.
Food: Besides coffee One World offers a variety of sandwiches and pastries, as well as a small selection of beer and wine.
Atmosphere: They are just a five minute drive from University of Idaho, meaning the place is almost always full of college students. They have a ton of seating (upstairs and downstairs) and have packed as many outlets in there was they could so that students can relax and get their work done off campus and away from the dorms.
They also have a meeting room that seats up to 18 people and can be reserved by phone or email.
Staff: The staff is always very nice, though they do seem to be in a rush even when it isn’t crazy busy in there. I don’t mind because that means we got our drinks faster!

Location: 533 S Main St, Moscow, ID 83843
Hours: 6:30AM - 10PM Daily
Pricing: $$
Fun fact: They offer live music and entertainment on most weekends, and some weekdays generally starting in the evening. They have an event calendar posted online so you don’t miss out on anything.
Social Media: You can follow One World on Twitter
Rating: 7.5/10*
I love the shop. The atmosphere is great; its definitely a unique place. I’ve been there twice and I wish I could say I loved the coffee as much as the shop. I would go back for music, food, and I might try the coffee again just to make sure.
To be fair the coffee is NOT bad which is why the rating is still high. As I state in my bio this is just my personal opinion, and I’m pretty picky with my coffee. To give a good example Starbucks would get a coffee rating of a 5.5 (the shop bringing it up to a 6 or 6.5), and I won’t usually drink anything under an 8 on a regular basis because it tends to make me feel sick.

Jazzy Bagels
[Cafe Umbria]

Serving + what we got: Cafe Umbria. We got a med/dark roast drip coffee.
Food: Bagels! They also serve salads, paninis, and soups. But mostly, bagels! ( We got a Jalapeno Asiago bagel breakfast sandwich and a Spinach Asiago bagel)
Atmosphere: It wasn’t too busy when we went in, but I have a feeling it could be kinda crazy during lunch on week days or breakfast on weekends. Its very spacious inside with comfortable seating and gas fire places, so even if it is busy you are still likely to get a table to yourself.
Staff: The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I was super tired, took my time staring at the menu, and didn’t feel awkward or rushed at all.

Location: 5 East Powell Boulevard Gresham, OR 97030
Hours: Mon - Fri: 6:30AM - 4PM, Saturday: 7:30AM - 4PM, Sunday: 8AM - 4PM
Pricing: $-$$
Fun fact: You can rent out Jazzy bagels for special events or parties for which catering is available. They also have live music on weekends.
Social Media: You can follow Jazzy Bagels on Facebook
Rating: 8/10*
We stopped in on our way out of town to a meditation retreat. We had a 6 hour drive ahead of us and are on a night shift, so not used to getting up early at all!
If I was rating bagels this place would get a 10/10 for sure. Their bagels are so good.
The coffee by itself gets a 7 because we didn’t get a latte or anything complicated so I can’t make a full assessment. It was good, but I wasn’t blown away. Of course as stated below the rating will most likely change after our next visit.

La Provence Lake Oswego
[Boulangerie & Patisserie]

Serving + what we got: Nossa Familia. We got a Vanilla Latte and a Cafe Au Lait.
Food: They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner (happy hour is 3PM - 6PM Monday - Friday). We got two marionberry cheese brioches because they make amazing pastries there.
Atmosphere: Super crazy busy for brunch on the weekends, so if you want to check it out plan on about a 40min wait. Even though it can get busy it doesn’t feel overwhelming. The place is big enough that everyone has space to breathe. (If you want to stop in at a quieter time mid-day during the week is generally a good bet)
Staff: Every time I’ve been to this location the staff have been on top of their game. Always super friendly, they know what they’re doing, and they do it quickly.

Location: 16350 Boones Ferry Road Lake Oswego, OR 97035
Hours: Sunday - Thursday: 7AM - 9PM, Friday & Saturday: 7AM - 10PM
Pricing: $$$
Fun fact: This is their primary/largest location!
Social Media: You can follow La Provence Lake Oswego on Instagram
Rating: 8/10*
The coffee was good! I would definitely feel safe ordering something other than drip if I came back to eat (which can sometimes be hard to say for a restaurant), and I would happily come back for another pastry and coffee to go. If I was rating restaurants instead of coffee shops this place would get a 10/10. Their food and pastries are delicious.

Well & Good Coffee House

Serving + what we got: Nossa Familia Coffee. We got a Vanilla Latte and a White Chocolate Mocha.
Food: They have a breakfast, lunch, and dessert/pastry menu. Well & Good also offers in-house catering for The Den; a space attached to the coffee shop that can be rented out for meetings.
Atmosphere: I love the interior of this coffee shop. The lighting and seating make it a very comfortable place to relax, drink coffee, and meet up with people or get some work done. It is spacious enough inside that you wont end up feeling over crowded by other people either, which is a big bonus for me at least.
Staff: The baristas were super friendly, and helpful while we were making our drink choices.
Location: 7357 SW Beveland St, Tigard, OR 97223
Hours: Monday - Friday: 6AM - 8PM, Saturday: 8AM - 8PM, Sunday: Closed
Pricing: $$

Social Media: You can follow Well & Good Coffee House on Instagram

Rating: 8.5 /10*
I really liked my latte, but I wouldn’t get anything sweeter here. You can tell by the menu that they specialize in coffee. Not coffee milkshakes (not that I’m putting down those kind of drinks, because obviously we got one!). Next time I stop by I’ll be getting another latte, macchiato, or an Americano, and definitely trying something from their food menu.
