tbh if there's anyone i really want more lore on it's the Entity. the reveal that it apparently was apparently once a human man is really interesting and i think will play a factor in Chapter 4 regarding Andrew's and Ashley's futures. i think it might be tied into the lore of what a Tar Soul is?
Tar Souls, people who view themselves as completely evil for whatever reason, are uniquely special to the demons apparently. Lord Unknown remarks his disappointment that Andrew has failed to "hatch" from a Grime Soul to a Tar Soul and wants to help him reach that point, and the Entity refers to Ashley exclusively as such and values her in a way it does not any other human. it feels like the existence of Tar Souls are an extremely valuable commodity to the demons, maybe it's related to how they make more?
maybe it's a requirement for becoming a demon/entity? maybe in order to become a demon, you have to be a Tar Soul first and can't become one if you're not a Tar Soul? what do you all think?

Ashley’s decision on which door she chooses is the only thing that changes whether or not Andrew has a vision in burial. If she chooses the heart door he has a vision with her if she chooses the sun door he doesn’t have a vision, so I think Ashley’s wanting Andrew romantically or not is what has an effect on him. Whether he sees the part of the vision where she chooses the doors and tries to give her some space or whether he doesn’t see a vision at all because he doesn’t align with the sun door. Like, he sees the heart door vision because it’s something he wants but the sun door vision is something he doesn’t want at all and can’t even imagine so they can’t sync together to see that vision like with the romance one
I’M SO SORRY…. this ask is from november omg.
you’re right, and i misremembered!! that’s is really interesting… maybe!! maybe, maybe!! it could have something to do with the entity, too, but it’s actually been so long since i’ve gone through the game that i don’t remember. my baddd…
i haven’t played or watched episode three yet, so i don’t know if this ever gets addressed. they seem to have a Lot More going on than what was happening in episode two. considering what i’ve seen of the route and what nemlei has said about decay, i don’t know if it’s necessarily something he can’t imagine (as it is the “healthiest” option), but i do think it’s fun to consider. i’m excited to see the burial route when it comes out!! maybe Known Liar Andrew Graves will tell us lol

Ashley is attracted to Andrew per Nemlei's Q&A. She's not gay or even ace. She just doesn't want to grow up, so she projects her more adult desires (ie sex) onto Andrew.
She could well be demi, though. She probably is.

i agree with you, even without nemlei’s input! i think it’s an interesting interpretation of her nonetheless <3 i also think that putting any Label onto her isn’t going to be entirely accurate considering her whole Self, and until we get to uncover more of how she thinks and feels, we won’t know how exactly she feels about sex in a positive way!!
i haven’t actually even played the new episode, but that’s part of their dynamic from 1&2 that i really like. the codependency is codepending!! also from what i’ve heard, she hasn’t really had any opportunities to explore her sexuality with anyone, especially if she does want a level of familiarity with her desired person! she’s only had andrew (and i love that for them). it’s new! it’s scary! she doesn’t like things changing between them! he’s her big brother! him possibly (definitely) reciprocating isn’t how andy is supposed to handle things. reciprocating means that he has wants and needs too, and sometimes that means leyley doesn’t get what she wants. and leyley always gets what she wants!!!

Been a while… I’ve been drowning in life and barely had time to draw lately.
Saw the new chapter dropped but I’m not emotionally stable enough to open that coffin yet…
Here’s a lil something to fill the void while I mentally prepare myself.
(They’re still rotting beautifully.)

You know, there could be an argument that Ashley a deeply closeted comp-het lesbian. Aro/ace if you prefer.
Because in spite of her obsession with Andrew, we never see her even think about or acknowledge other men. Even though she's upset when they don't find her particularly attractive, she doesn't seem to understand what sex drive is attached to. Only realising that Andrew would be a deterrent to the guards when he mentions it. And not recognising the murders and threats would quash Andrew's when dealing with the lady I the apartment.
Ashley may not understand the feeling of attraction and love, which is why you get to choose how she defines her own feelings. Her jokes about sex and loving Andrew too much are just that, jokes. She doesn't get the intense feelings everyone else does about the topic as she has no stake in either.
Her understanding of sexuality/people is from r-rated films and maybe some of the theoretical porn books Andrew has stashed away somewhere. (So far as I know, you can't find any, but maybe they're the parents' books, who knows.) . When she's trying to appeal to Andrew it's all about her labour and not anything of a sexual nature, it's always Andrew who initiates the more dubious physical side to their relationship, fingers in her belt loops, crawling into her bed at night, etc. This is why she thinks it's Andrew whose actions are more suggestive than her own. She even admits that in the questionable/love ending, she doesn't particularly care to pursue it. It's just a way to keep him around.
And yet, she always has feirce reactions to women. Why does she call all other women vile temptresses‐ aside from indoctrination from movies/her mom? It could be because she herself has a strong attraction to women. She tries to get confirmation from Andrew about her feelings, asking if he thinks nina is pretty, because she thought nina was pretty. Nina stopped being her friend as soon as Ashley found out she had feelings for her brother- not just because of the risk to Andy spending less time with her and the potential of them never being friends to begin with and only a means to an end- but potentially because Ashley had a crush on her and felt rejected.
The same could be said for Julia, who Ashley sends insulting and vulgar phonecalls to, showing her confusion of where the lines should be by saying "you think you're better because you can fuck him and I can't?!" But clearly according to one ending she can. Or at least, partway. We understand something sexual happened, but its possible they didn't have vaginal intercourse. Ashley might not be able to get physically aroused while thinking about men, making her assertions about women even more stark. If women can arouse even her, then surely no man could ever resist their charms. Not even Andrew.
After all, Ashley can place herself in the romance spot between the other girl bunnies, but her budding feelings can never blossom. Only Andrew gets to experience the blooms of romance.
Anyway. This bitch gay. YEET.
