Ahhhh... can you deftly tap and move the cogs swiftly enough to avoid those fatalistically sharp pencils?

More play testing! We are surprised at how well the game looks on the iPhone so we will consider that as a possible platform. There's still some tweaking to be done but shouldn't be a problem for us ;)

One of the highlights for GDC2016 was getting to show our game to TouchArcade which is an amazing site that has reviews and news about mobile games. We signed up for an interview session and proceeded to meet them and play and talk about our game, Cognition. We are extremely excited about their responses. You can read about what they like about our game in this link!

Showing Cognition at the NYU GameCenter Open Playtest session Friday afternoon at GDC!
A number of wonderful people approached the booth and give all the projects set up a whirl. The reception was overwhelmingly positive, but there were valid pieces of criticism about level design and visual feedback that we will take to heart and continue to tweak to provide the best experience possible.
We will be showcasing the final product at @eoy16, the End of the Year Student Showcase, in mid-May. We will be releasing shortly afterwards so please stop by and check out our completed piece before it’s formally on the App store!

COGNITION is a single player puzzle experience for touch devices where you will use a unique movement mechanism to explore a hand drawn world. Players control 2 cogs that are connected and are constantly rotating around each other. By mastering their movement, players will solve puzzles through clever use of objects in the environment.

We had a lot of positive responses through playtesting and we seem to be hitting the right market as well! Seeing people playing Cognition, getting into the flow, and completing all the levels we have created so far is an awesome experience. We still have a lot of work to do but we are quite excited by it and look forward to completing it by May! We will be at #GDC16 so if you want to have a play, let us know and we can schedule something. Stay tune for updates and more!

The main interaction in Cognition is other gears you can operate. By activating these gears, you can trigger other items in the level to rotate or move. In this example, you can see the fan of color pencils rotate due when the static gear is activated. However, you have to be careful -- anything pointy and sharp in the game will pop the player and reset the level.
