as an apology for taking so long to answer this!! i offer you this short unfinished comic

in my au, red alerts processor is badly damaged in a crash, leaving him prone to glitches and system shut downs and such. inferno is the one of the few mechs other than ratchet who knows how to deal with this, and when red glitches out really badly in front of him, inferno actually helps red through it. red alert had not trusted him AT ALL before this point, so this comic is pretty much the first step towards them actually becoming friends!

ALSO IMPORTANT NOTE: i forgot to mention this last time, but their dynamic was originally inspired by the fic nor is he early on ao3!! its an amazing fic, go check it out

orion's not the only troublemaker around the mines LOLLL (more rambling below :3c)

this is my take on one of the other mining teams! perceptor's their captain (like elita), though that doesn't do much for the amount of trouble they get into HAHA

here are their badge ranks (based off the movie + my hcs): Perceptor - rank 8+ (Captain) Ratchet - rank 7 Grapple - rank 5 Prowl - rank 5 Blaster - rank 4 Moonracer - rank 4 Red Alert - rank 4 Smokescreen - rank 3 Sunstreaker - rank 3 Brainstorm - rank 2 blaster's got the most extensive comms range + fine-tuned sensors out of any of them, so usually he's the one assigned to pulling smokescreen and prowl out of trouble if they accidentally trigger an explosion. prowl's getting sick of third-wheeling him and smokey (as if prowl and jazz aren't significantly worse LMAO)

brainstorm is... brainstorm. wheeljack's experiments tend to blow up in his face, but brainstorm's a much, much worse case in that regard. only reason he's not rank 1 like orion is because perceptor has a soft spot for him (unfortunately). moonracer thinks his experiments are funny. the two of them are very much gossip girls

sunstreaker hates it here. the mines are a hellscape for a guy who tries to keep his armor as polished as he can, and being assigned to a team that is regularly involved in cave-ins and explosions has him screaming to the rooftops sometimes. sideswipe thinks it's hilarious

ratchet is tired of all of them btw. given the datsuns' tendency for getting blown up and brainstorm being . himself, he always ends up going through his first aid kit appallingly fast. give this guy a break pleek </3
