lol this rules, some dude down in Alabama is waging a one man war against “wake boats” by drilling holes in them. Locals have dubbed him “no wake Jake” and almost fifty of them have formed a committee urging him to run for sheriff. Oh yeah, and he dresses like this while he’s sneaking around sinking boats.

Things you may have missed from the Texas Senate Hearing if you haven’t kept up with Uvalde coverage
- The classroom door was unlocked, and could not have been locked from the inside by the shooter
- The police did not try to open the classroom door
- The police had ballistic shields
- The police waited for 77 minutes
- The police restrained, detained, and arrested parents who tried to go in to save their children, including Rubin Ruiz
- Rubin Ruiz is a police officer for the school district. He was also the husband of Eva Mireles, one of the teachers who was killed. Eva called her husband, saying that she had been shot and was dying.
- Ruiz tried to go in to save his wife, but was detained and disarmed.
Tell me again why the police should be the only ones with guns.

People who vilify Britain will be treated as extremists under Rishi Sunak plan
Link to Article
Those who speak extreme hatred toward the UK will be treated as extremists and referred to the government’s deradicalisation programme Prevent under plans from Rishi Sunak.
The Tory leadership candidate plans to widen the definition of extremism to include those with an “extreme hatred of Britain”.
People who display hatred through speech or writing would be referred to Prevent programme, Mr Sunak pledged.
“Whether redoubling our efforts to tackle Islamist extremism or rooting out those who are vocal in their hatred of our country, I will do whatever it takes to fulfil that duty,” he said on Tuesday night.
“Britain is a beacon of freedom, tolerance and diversity. We must never let those who seek to undermine and destroy our way of life to succeed.”
The former Chancellor’s team clarified that the changes would not include criticism of the government or any government policy, and was not legally binding.
Mr Sunak also announced proposals to “refocus” Prevent onto Islamic extremism as the biggest threat to the security of the UK.
An initial review of the Prevent programme criticised the policy for focusing too much on far-right extremism.
Extremism is defined in the 2011 Prevent strategy as “vocal or active opposition to fundamental British values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs”, as well as calls for the death of armed forces personnel.
Sunak’s team vowed to broaden that out to include “vilification of the UK” to ensure “those with an extreme hatred of our country that leads them to pose a risk to national security can be identified and diverted away from a destructive path”, the Guardian reports.
The policy announcement comes as the Conservative Party delayed sending out ballot papers to members over security concerns.
Rishi Sunak appears to have lost ground in the Tory leadership race, with a YouGov poll putting Liz Truss well ahead of Mr Sunak in support from party members, with her lead increasing to 34 points.

I grew up in citrus farming country, and had orange and lemon trees. And I saw a post today about how people in the US have gotten so used to everything being always availible that when they walk into a grocery store in January to buy a lemon, they expect the lemon to be there, and they never even consider how unnatural it is that we have lemons in January.
And this is so completely not the point of that post, which is why I'm making my own post, but this example really really bothers me, because as I said I grew up in citrus country, and citrus are winter fruits, and January is lemon season.
Which ultimately goes to prove the point of that post, that we are so used to this kind of constant availability, that most people don't even know what season is lemon season.

Taiwan residents protest Pelosi's meddling
Politicians and people in Taiwan aired their anger and concern after United States House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to the island, which has resulted in an escalation of tensions across the Taiwan Straits.
Protesters gathered outside the Grand Hyatt on Tuesday, the hotel Pelosi chose to stay in after landing in Taipei. They shouted "Yankee go home" and carried signs calling the speaker a "warmonger".
Wu Cherng-dean, chairman of the New Party, said it is firmly opposed to Pelosi's visit to Taiwan, saying she should not have been welcomed because it was "harmful to Taiwan without bringing any benefits".
"Pelosi's visit would push Taiwan over the cliff and turn the island into a war zone," said Wu, who was among the protesters outside the hotel. "She is only here to light the blasting fuse."
Chung Chin, former director-general of Taiwan's information office, said that although Pelosi clearly understands cross-Straits tensions, she insisted on visiting Taiwan.
"She is an ugly American with ill intentions of using Taiwan as a pawn. The island's leader Tsai Ing-wen is a traitor. The people of the Chinese mainland and Taiwan are capable of solving the Taiwan question in a peaceful manner," Chung said.
Members of the public also expressed concern after Pelosi left Taiwan on Wednesday afternoon.
Lin Yen-chen, a young person from Taiwan, said by receiving Pelosi, the island administration has totally ignored the development interests of the people.
Some members of Taiwan's post-2000 generation fear that continuous US interference in Taiwan may lead to war, said another young person, Shen Hung-jui.
Ma Xiaoguang, spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said on Wednesday that many politicians, civil groups and people in Taiwan have condemned Pelosi's visit and said her intention was to stir up cross-Straits tensions and that she fooled with Taiwan people to help her political career.
They all opposed the secessionist actions of "Taiwan independence" carried out by Tsai Ing-wen and the Democratic Progressive Party.
"Taiwan people are not afraid of standing against manipulation by external forces and refuse to be kidnapped by the DPP. What they want is peaceful development and to live a good life," Ma said.

You won’t see this in the Western media:
People in Taiwan are protesting the dangerous provocation by Nancy Pelosi and the US government
Condemning local politicians as US “puppets and traitors"
Chanting "We don’t need America to treat us as a pawn!”

Electric Cars Are Now Being Targeted For Overloading The Electric Grids During An Energy Crisis
Tesla has asked owners in Texas not to charge their cars during a heat wave to help avoid blackouts and overloading the state’s failing power grid.
The alert comes as the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) called on residents to conserve energy.
They have asked the state’s residents to refrain from using electricity from appliances and more to stop the grid from being pushed to near-emergency conditions.
Tesla stepped up to help the state with a new in-car alert to owners in the state, encouraging them not to charge during peak hours. “A heat wave is expected to impact the grid in Texas over the next few days.
The grid operator recommends to avoid charging during peak hours between 3 pm and 8 pm, if possible, to help statewide efforts to manage demand”, an in-car alert sent to Tesla owners reads, as reported by Electrek.
ERCOT has also asked that people in Texas avoid running appliances between 2 pm and 8 pm. Reuters reported the state’s risk of losing its power reserves “with no market solution available.”
The ERCOT website indicated late Tuesday that it only had about 3,600 megawatts of reserves, which is enough to power three-quarters of a million homes. The lack of power reserves is a genuine concern for more than 26 million state residents.
The state is expected to register temperatures of more than 100 degrees in the coming days. The heat also stops wind power from being generated in Texas, which usually provides the state with a quarter of its electricity.
In an interview Tuesday with Fox News Digital, energy expert Jonathan Lesser warned that the power crisis in Texas underscores the broader problems with green energy.
Lesser argued that due to the lack of reliable utility-scale battery storage infrastructure, forcing a green transition will lead to more power outages.
“The reality is: we’re going to have to get used to more blackouts as long as we continue down this green energy path,” Lesser said. “The technology simply isn’t there. You’re going to either have more blackouts or more requirements to conserve energy.”
Lesser pointed to the lack of reliability of wind energy during the summer.
“The least windy time of year is summer when electricity demand in Texas peaks,” Lesser said. “So, you’ve got a resource that is at its highest in the spring and fall when electricity demand is lowest. That means the wind as a resource has a low economic value because you want something that’s available when demand is highest.”
“So, it’s not surprising at all that Texas, which has the largest wind capacity of any state in the country, is seeing this problem,” he continued.
Lesser pointed out that the U.S. utility-scale battery storage infrastructure is currently insufficient. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the country has about 4,605 megawatts of total battery storage but regularly consumes more than 400,000 megawatts daily.
Pushing too quickly for green energy will lead to a lack of power and a direct impact on most Americans.
