Kurt smiled and just stared at his husband as he started to eat. He knew it was rude, but it calmed him. During his time away, Kurt never slept well. Always anxious, stressed, worrisome. He never felt calm. But having his husband home, sitting at the table, simply eating cereal made him feel at ease and whole once more. “Only the best for my husband.”
Blaine locked eyes with Kurt as he took a bite of his cereal, smiling fondly at him. He covered his mouth and swallowed before he spoke, “You’re too good to me. But tell me what I’ve missed. With school, the family, everything.” He took a few more bites of cereal and then sipped from his orange juice, not wanting to miss anything that his husband had to catch him up on.

Kurt smiled as he left Blaine to change and went downstairs to fix his husband a bowl of cereal like he requested. He thought for a moment and wondered if he had cronuts in the fridge, but he didn’t. He frowned and made a mental note to get some from the bakery that was a few blocks away. He, instead, fixed Blaine some toast with jam and a glass of orange juice. He couldn’t believe he was fixed food for his husband. His husband that has been gone for nine long months. He smiled to himself and set everything on the table and sat down, waiting for his love to come down the stairs to eat.
Blaine took a little extra time upstairs after getting changed, just needing a moment alone to process being back home. It was always emotional, especially after being somewhere so vastly different and intense as a third world country. When he was initially back in his house, there was some culture shock as well as just the overwhelming feeling of being back home. He grabbed a few tissues from their bathroom to help with the oncoming tears, quickly wiping his face and taking in some breaths before going down to meet his husband again.
Blaine smiled fondly at the sight of Kurt at the table, walking over and pressing a kiss to his head before sitting next to him. “This looks like a five star meal to me, I’m not joking,” he told with a grin. “Thank you, honey. You’re too good to me.”

Kurt smiled and took Blaine’s hand. “Well then, let me see what’s in the kitchen. I haven’t be grocery shopping in two weeks so I don’t know if I have anything.” He laughed at himself after. “Been staying late at school helping other teachers get food basket’s ready for some kids, so let’s hope I have something.” he was taking Blaine to the door when he stopped and turned back around. “I will always be supportive of you, baby. Always. Now, do you want to change or stay in your uniform all day?” He laughed once more and gave Blaine a quick peck on the lips.
Blaine snorted softly, “No worries, my love. I know you’re busy too, and I didn’t tell you I was coming home early. I’d even be happy with a bowl of cereal, I’m not joking. I’ve been dying for a cronut too.” He laughed again and took Kurt’s hand, starting to walk to the door with him. He stopped to look at him and couldn’t help but tear up a bit again. “Thank you, Kurt. The same goes for you. No matter where I am in the world, just know you’re always the one in my heart.” He returned the peck and then glanced down at his uniform. “I’ll probably change. Get comfortable. I’ll take it off for now and worry about the laundry later.” He kissed Kurt’s cheek before going to the closet where he hid his bag earlier. He grabbed a pair of sweatpants and a Navy sweatshirt of his from his drawers, tossing them on the bed. He started to strip out of his uniform, starting with the tie around his neck and working his way down. He carefully folded each piece of the uniform, including his blazer he placed on the bed earlier. He removed his wings pin and other badges off of the jacket so they wouldn’t get lost. He placed them in the little black box that was on his night table. He took the folded uniform and placed it in the closet with his duffle bag, knowing he would get to it later. He never had to worry about much laundry when he came home, since he could only travel with a duffle bag’s worth of clothes which were only his uniforms and sweats.

Kurt moved his hands to Blaine’s arms and rubbed them as he spoke. “Well, I’ll make sure you get plenty of relaxation and good food. I can cook you whatever you heart desires.” He giggled as Blaine kissed him and nodded. “I’m so hungry for yours too. Been so long.” he whispered and wrapped his arms around his neck, pulling him closer to him
Blaine grinned, his arms remaining wrapped around his waist. “Thank you, honey. I’m not picky though, believe me. Whatever you make will be the best meal I’ve had in 9 months. It’s kind of like just having hospital food for all that time. Not the worst but at the same time, doesn’t hold a candle to Kurt Anderson-Hummel’s cooking at all.” He laughed. “I know. I know it’s tough, but I appreciate you still being so supportive and understanding always.”

Kurt nodded. “They already like you so having them talk to you will make them love you.” He took his hand and rubbed his cheek. “Are you tired, hon? Do you wanna sleep?”
Blaine gave a playful smirk, “I’m so glad I had a good spokesperson on my behalf while I’m gone. You’re so sweet to me, bub.” He kissed his cheek before leaning into his touch and nuzzling against his hand. He looked Kurt in the eyes and hummed. “I’m tired, but I don’t want to sleep now. I did on and off on the plane, but I’m not really used to sleeping for long chunks of time yet. Just the nature of where I was I was on alert a lot of the time. My mind doesn’t realize it can just relax yet.” He sighed. “I’m more so hungry, for dinner and for those lips.” He winked before kissing Kurt’s lips.

Blaine smiled lovingly and nodded, “Yes, we can put it up soon. After I catch up on a little sleep. I’m going to be pretty jet lagged for a bit. But, before Thanksgiving so it can be cozy in here.” He listened to Kurt and ducked his head. It touched him so much that his husband was proud, even when being apart was difficult. “I would love to. Career day, but instead of the kids’ parents coming in I will just talk.” He chuckled.

Blaine chuckled lovingly and kissed Kurt’s forehead. He wrapped his arms around his husband and held him close, nodding along with what he was saying. “I’m happy to be home too. So happy. We are going to be together for the holidays this year and it will be amazing.” He kissed his cheek and sighed. “Did you have a good day at work? I’ll have to come meet your new class of kiddos.”
Kurt smiled brightly and kissed him once more. “That I am most thankful for. I haven’t put up the tree yet. We can do that together!” He was practically beaming at that suggestion and then laughed a little when Blaine suggested meeting his new class. “They already know you. I don’t shut up about you. But they would love to meet you. I can talk to the principal and see if we can have a day where you can stop by and tell the kids about your job.”

Blaine smiled warmly, sighing in bliss listening to his husband. “You’re adorable, and so precious to me,” he told. He then obliged to Kurt and kissed him deeper and longer. He drew it out, nearly replicating their goodbye kiss when Blaine was off to boot camp all those years ago. He smirked a Kurt started to undo the buttons on his blazer, unable to keep from snickering and shaking his head fondly. “If you love it so much, why do you always wanna take it off?” He winked as he started to shrug off the jacket once the last button was undone. He was careful to make sure it wasn’t wrinkling before he let Kurt put it aside.
Kurt chuckled and kissed his cheek as he watched Blaine set aside his blazer. “Because…it looks so much better on the floor.” He winked and then hugged him once more. “I’m so happy you’re home.” he kissed his neck and looked back at him; looking into his eyes. “I want to take in every moment I have with you.”

Kurt giggled as Blaine lifted him off the ground. “Kiss me forever. Don’t ever stop.” he said and ended his sentence with another kiss to his husband. “I’ve missed this so much. I just want you all to myself.” he whispers and started to undo Blaine’s blazer and his hands sneaked around his waist. “I’ll never get tired of seeing you in uniform. You’re so handsome.”

Kurt let out a small laugh and let go of his death grip on Blaine. He knew Blaine would always keep his promise, but he just couldn’t believe he was home. Home after nine long months. Feeling his lips on his was like everything was back in place. Blaine was in his arms again and so close to him he could feel his body heat. With their forehead touching and more tears falling, Kurt felt at ease. He felt whole again.
“You always know how to surprise me after years of being with you.” he took his thumb and brushed stray tears away from Blaine’s cheek and then kissed a few away. “I’ve missed you so much. I love you too. I can’t believe you’re finally home.” With that, Blaine presented him with roses and Kurt gasped. “How did you…why am I even asking? Oh, baby they’re beautiful.” He took in a breath and sighed happily. As Blaine took them away and kissed him once more, Kurt practically melted into his touch. His hands held onto Blaine’s wrists and wanted to take in as much as he could in that moment as they kissed. He felt practically breathless.
Blaine nuzzled against Kurt when he wiped his tears, sniffing and letting out a happy chuckle. “Life wouldn’t be interesting if I didn’t keep it fresh,” he teased. “The flowers were a piece of cake, trust me. It’s just so good to be back home. I’m just so looking forward to spending the holidays with you and getting a break. So happy....”
Blaine stroked Kurt’s cheeks with his thumbs and practically whimpered, just the contact was overwhelming as they shared in this moment. “I just wanna keep kissing you,” he said after they paused for air. He laughed softly and pecked his lips several times. He lifted Kurt off the ground and kissed him deeply before setting him back down with another laugh. “I love you, I love you, I love you!”

Kurt stared in shock. “Blaine…” he said. “Oh my god, Blaine!” He ran to him and wrapped his arms around his neck, instantly crying. He was gripping his uniform so tightly because he wanted to make sure this was real. “Y-You’re home…” he said, his voice cracking. “You’re home.”
Blaine smiled widely through tears, nodding and holding Kurt with a strong grip. He gave him a gentle squeeze and rubbed his back before he gave him a kiss on the cheek. He laughed squeakily and nodded again. “Yes, I’m home. I’m home. I always promise to come home to you.”
Blaine pulled back slightly to press a passionate kiss to his husband’s lips, his arms still wrapped around him tightly. He leaned his forehead against his and just closed his eyes while he allowed himself to break down more. It was always such a huge release for him when he was reunited with Kurt. It was all of the emotions of seeing him, plus letting all of what he had experienced in their time apart washing away and being a chapter that was now closed.
“I g-got to leave early,” Blaine started, his voice trembling a little as he tried to calm himself. “I-I’ve known for like a week but I wanted to surprise you. I know you love your unexpected homecomings....” He nudged Kurt playfully and gave him a little smirk. “God, I missed you.... I love you. I love you so much, Kurt.” He kissed his lips again before leaning back against him and pressing a softer kiss to his forehead. He caressed Kurt’s cheek with his free hand. He showed Kurt the roses and let him sniff them before he placed them aside on the bed so he could use both hands to hold his face and kiss him deeply.

pilotshusbandkurt:
Kurt was in his classroom getting his papers to take home to grade for the night. He had been putting it off long enough and the stack was just right for him to keep himself busy for the weekend. As he grabbed his bag, he checked his phone one last time to see of Blaine had texted him. Judging by his phone call last night, he knew he would be busy. Blaine worked so hard and was so dedicated and Kurt was so proud of him.
Ever since they were teenagers, Blaine had always wanted to be in the Navy. He would talk about it a lot when he and Kurt started dating and Kurt would just stare at him, his eyes sparkling, and wonder what it would be like to see Blaine Anderson in uniform. Besides his Dalton blazer.
As the years went by, Kurt was content with his life. Although in a constant state of worry, he was proud of his husband. He was proud to talk about his husband to other’s when they would ask what he does for a living. His kids at school always asked for updates of what he has done and where he has flown to. Needless to say, Kurt was a lucky man.
But being apart for so many months was hard. Harder than he ever thought. At first he didn’t mind it because he knew that Blaine was protecting him and his country. But as time went on it got to him. He would have his moments of just sitting on the porch, staring at the ocean and start to cry as he would hear a plane go by. Nights were especially hard for him since he was alone in the house with nothing to hold onto. But he knew Blaine felt the same way and had it way harder than him. But he reminded himself that Blaine was doing what he loved and that’s all that matters.
Kurt pulled into the driveway of their house and saw that his flag had fallen from the post. He shook his head and fix it once he got out of the car. Once he was unlocking the door, he notice the flower petals on the porch. He cocked an eyebrow but he didn’t think anything of it. Once inside, he tossed his keys into the bowl on the table and did a double take. “The hell?” he said to himself. Blaine’s picture that he put on the mantle was moved and Kurt swore he didn’t move it. He placed it back where it was before and turned around. Kurt noticed a mug on the kitchen counter that he didn’t remember getting out. “What?” He said to himself again and saw that it was Blaine’s favorite mug. He, also noticed that the kitchen was not how he left it. What is this? He thought. He shook his head and then walked to his bedroom.
As he walked up the stairs he saw the laundry basket. He forgot to put those in the wash this morning. He was about to head back downstairs to take them to the laundry room, but noticed a few shirts that weren’t his. Kurt knew every article of clothing he owned. He took pride in his wardrobe and he knew that those shirts weren’t….wait. Kurt dropped the basket and his bag on the stairs, not caring where they ended up.
When he got to his bedroom door, he saw Blaine’s boots. No. He couldn’t be. Maybe he was just imagining this. Blaine wasn’t supposed to be home yet. Kurt had it marked on his calendar. He knew he wasn’t supposed to be here. Kurt was just overreacting. But when he opened the door to his room, his mind was indeed, not imaging his husband standing there waiting for him.
Blaine was too jittery to focus on his phone or even attempt to turn the television on, all he could do was occupy himself with things in their bedroom. He looked at all of the photos of him and Kurt several times. He also looked inside their closet, flipping through his husband’s clothes. He could inhale the other’s scent and sighed, even more eager to actually have his man in his arms.
Suddenly, Blaine could hear the front door shut downstairs. He quickly let go of the current blazer he was holding onto and heading back into the bedroom. His reactions and reflexes were immediate, a result of his training they had to be. He grabbed hold of the roses on the bed and smoothed a hand through his hair which was slicked back neatly. He didn’t slather on the gel like he did in high school, but he still kept it very nice and tidy. His heart was pounding when he heard the footsteps of his husband on the stairs, his eyes already watering.
Blaine sucked in a deep breath just as the door opened, lowering the bouquet of flowers so Kurt could see his face. “Surprise!” he managed to say before he choked up. He stepped toward the other to hug onto tightly, tears instantly starting to stream down his cheeks. The Navy had thickened his skin more than it ever was, and he was very tolerable to pain by now. Even so, Blaine was still very sentimental and emotional when it came to his personal life and the people he cared about. The sight of Kurt always took his breath away and overwhelmed him, especially when they had been apart for so long.

Surprise Homecoming || Klaine
Flying was in Blaine’s blood, literally. His father, Joshua, served in the Navy as an aviator many years ago. Blaine was only a kid when he passed away, unfortunately, and he always knew that he wanted to continue his father’s legacy. He was fascinated by planes even back then, loving toy planes and taking trips in real planes to vacations. When he graduated college, he enrolled in the Navy and began his journey to becoming an aviator himself. He doesn’t regret his decision, although he wouldn’t necessarily want to relive the beginning of boot camp and the hardships of just starting out. The training was intensive and the hardest commitment he ever took on. However, all of the literal blood, sweat, and tears were worth it when he began to master flying planes. He hoped every time he flew that his father would be proud. He never got in a plane without thinking of him.
Blaine flew for his country and father, but also for his mom and husband. Pam would be lying if she said the fact her son was an active member in the navy didn’t stress her out, because she always worried no matter what, but she was beyond proud of her boy. The same went for Kurt. Blaine married his high school sweetheart before he enrolled in the Navy, knowing very well he was the one and that he just had to make him his husband before he left. He loved his job and was passionate, though he also loved getting to come home to Kurt. He missed him terribly when they were apart, a photo of his love always on him and where he could see it even when he was flying.
Blaine would often tell Kurt when he was expected to come home, though there were times where he would get a little extra time than he thought. He had been serving time in Iran for nearly nine months, and it was finally time to make the journey home. This time, it was going to be shorter than expected. Whenever this happened, Blaine took the opportunity to surprise his husband. The night before he left, Blaine spoke to Kurt as if he was just going to be busy and not have time to talk. Secretly, he would be on a long flight back to America with no cell service. He flew back with his best friend, David, who like Kurt had met back at Dalton Academy back in the days of performing acapella numbers. They still did this at base, sometimes. Depending on the behavior of their squadron.
He arrived at the house before Kurt got home from work, taking a cab from the airport. Staring out the cab and seeing the palm trees felt like a dream every time he returned to Florida, such a different sight and world from where he had been. He just had to thank God as he leaned against the window to take it in.
Blaine’s plan was to shut the door of the bedroom and lead Kurt there to find him home. He left some subtle clues around, the first on their front porch. Blaine took the American flag that hung by the house and carefully leaned it against the front door. Kurt could have thought that maybe the wind knocked it down, but it was still an indication he was inside nonetheless. He also sprinkled some flower petals from a bush right in the doorway inside the house, shaping them into an imperfect heart. Again, it could be blamed on the wind blowing some debris in. He moved a photo of himself from the mantle in the living room to the table by the door, placing his set of house keys beside it. He also set his Avengers mug he liked to use on the kitchen counter and re-positioned other things of his so slightly. He also saw Kurt had his laundry in the basket on the stairs, so Blaine decided to put some pieces of his clothing in the mix as well. He draped a couple of shirts over the basket to draw more attention to it.
He saved the biggest giveaway for in front of their bedroom door, a pair of his boots sitting there. Someone could always tell he was home by a pair of them set somewhere. He just paced inside the bedroom, still in his uniform. He had a bouquet of roses to give to Kurt as well. He couldn’t hold onto them from how his hands trembled, very eager to see his husband. He kept listening for the front door to open and for Kurt to start finding the clues.
