I'll be posting some writing, some sketches of mine, and musings here. Mostly a catch-all blog. If in my writing you catch typos or errors, let me know! No, seriously. Let me know.

Friend: You know there are other games you could play instead of Mass Effect all the time.
Me: You’re totally right! [starts playing Dragon Age]
Friend: That’s not what I meant…

The Chained Champion I just really like the idea of Hawke being tied thematically to the symbology of chains. I have a Warrior/Mage Hawke (Mage by armor, but Warrior because she has a sword to swing around, mods!) Alright, gonna get a bit weighty and critical of some beloved characters in DA2 below (and I can't seem to find the cut-off thing on my phone) -------------- I have this idea that since Marian Hawke took over as essentially the primary caretaker and provider for the Hawke family after Malcolm died, she is repeatedly held responsible for the entire family. Waited too long to leave after she and Carver came back from Ostagar? Her fault, she didn't argue harder with their stressed out mother who was trying to decide what to take until it was too late to carry anything more. Bethany flat-put asks why they waited so long, and it is Carver who came to the defense of himself and Mari. Bethany dying? Her fault because she was too far from her sister and had never developed her magical skills into healing (not that she was ever good at healing to begin with, too much power into it and people, animals, things, died as a result of too much of a good thing). Her mother calls her out and blames her for it. Then in Kirkwall, Marian and Carver (mostly Mari) are held responsible for bringing in coin to support their mother and help their uncle get by while living with him. Marian has always been afraid of her own magic because whatever spell she casts is far more destructive than it should be, but with Templars everywhere in the city, she has to be cautious. And then Anders shows up in her life after she collects a small group of friends (Fenris, Merrill, Varric, and Aveline) and proceeds to run around blatantly using magic as if he had never been an apostate before. And then he starts trying to use her throughout the years as a symbol of mage greatness. This particular thing bothers her and weighs over her shoulders as an unwanted burden when she and Anders argue at a near constant level - more than Anders and Carver, more than Anders and Fenris. But once she gets ready to head doqn to the deep roads, Leandra begs her to leave Carver behind. And she does with the plan to turn herself in as an apostate on returning. But Carver joins the Templars and someone has to stay to care for Leandra as she sets about determined to reclaim her lost noble standing Which means Mari has to play noble. By the end, Mari is choked by the chains of the city, by the dead, by every person depending on her to be their Champion that she makes a series of rash, stress-influenced choices. And is on the run from the city, remembered both fondly and distrust. "May the Chained Hawke never fly over your shadow."

Shohreh Aghdashloo, who voices Admiral Shala'Raan, was in Star Trek Beyond and is one of the main characters on The Expanse. Claudia Black, who voices Admiral Xen and also Morrigan, has had many roles, including on Farscape and Stargate SG-1.
Holy... no wonder I knew her voice so well, I love/d Farscape and the Stargate franchise. Thanks!

Have you ever thought “Man, I feel impossibly shitty and I don’t know why”?
Run through this checklist before you do anything else.
What have I eaten in the last 24 hours? Is it enough? If not, go and eat some food, you butt.
Am I hydrated? If not, put some fluids in your body, fool.
Have I slept an acceptable amount in the last 24 hours and preceeding few days? If not, do your utmost to have a nap. You need a reset, bro.
Have I been outside/partaken in whatever form of exercise I am capable of? You’re stagnating, homie.
Have I communicated with anyone? At all? About anything? In the last 24 hours? Sup, you’re not actually a lone wolf, and even if you’re just shouting BUTTLUMPS at someone over the intertubes, it’s better than shouting it at yourself inside your own head.
So basically: eat, drink, sleep, walk, and talk. If you still feel like emotional ass after that, start looking for more involved explanations.

Important issue that no one talks about
When you have to follow an NPC in a videogame but they move slower than your running speed and faster than your walking speed, so you have to run for a little bit then stop to allow them to catch up

It would be nice if more schools and people suggested them as post- high school options with the same fervor as college.
Can we PLEASE remove the stigma for blue collar work in America?
“You don’t wanna be a garbage collector when you grow up, do you?”
$34,000 a year, no college needed?
God forbid you take an honest job $7,000 above Michigan’s average cost of living line.
“You don’t wanna be a ditch digger.”
Bitch, I was making $15 an hour, post tax, doing exactly that, the fuck is wrong with it? (Other than it was physically exhausting.)
We need to help America, as a whole, understand that college is not, and should not be he only option, and that there is NO SHAME in trade school or even getting a career right out of high school.
I, personally, know plumbers making $80,000+ a year. Better than most 4 year degree workers.
We need plumbers, janitors, truck-drivers, garbage collectors, machinists, to keep this nation running smoothly. And they deserve respect for what they do.
Miss me with your classist bullshit.
