damian has to be the funniest batkid because he looked back on all the crazy bullshit all his older siblings did during their rebellious phases like going on murderous rampages, running away to strike out alone as a vigilante in a different city, becoming a crime lord, and then proceeded to accurately predict ‘what can i do to top that and actually freak Batman out?’ and immediately applied for medical school.

Batfam x Neglected! Reader Idea

The reader is aware about their family's vigilante lives. They slowly become aware of what being a vigilante entails in the world they're living in. They notice a pattern of suffering, betrayal, and conflict occurring in their lives. How often heroes are born from the loss of something– or someone. How the mission, their duty, would chain them for the rest of their lives. They come to understand the weight behind the mantle they wear.
So when the family starts neglecting them, too busy with their own lives to take care of their youngest, the reader does not withdraw or work hard for them to notice them. They watch figures larger than life save people beneath Gotham's smog skies, and think "It's for the best."
The reader had always preferred loneliness anyhow, how could they even beg for a modicum of attention when there are rogues like Joker, Scarecrow, preying amongst innocent people. Not to mention the amount of homicide cases present in Gotham that the police can't even be bothered to solve.
So what if Dick paid no attention to you, choosing their free time to spend it with Damian, a boy one year older than you? It makes sense. You were just a civilian. You didn't share that bond that blossoms when you fight near death together. Even if Bruce doesn't pay attention to your presence, you tell yourself that it's okay. You weren't as talented as the others. You were just glad he was hospitable enough to let you stay.
You have a place to rest, you have friends outside of your family. At least you weren't dying in the streets. You were invisible, sure. But it also means you were safe. From the danger that occurs in their lives. You didn't have to worry about being kidnapped by rogues, having to defuse a bomb under pressure, or fighting for your life.
It was better this way. You were safe.
Years later, the batclan would realize the extent of their neglect and try to make up for lost time. But you, the reader?
"What do you mean, it was fine." You'd convinced yourself and repressed everything you felt during that time. You focused on your own life, working hard in order to get a decent job for the future. "You guys had better things to do, I understood that much." You never sought their comfort.
You avoided it like the plague. It was uncomfortable. Just as they don't need you, you never desire a connection with them. At least not anymore. It was best for you to leave. After all, you were just a civilian. You don't want to be involved with their nightlife.
"Thank you for housing me all these years. Goodbye."
