"hmpf. well i'm not the only funny lookin thing around here." carl said with a smirk, obviously looking down at her picture. Actually, he couldn't wait to put it up on his fridge, to hang there as a little reminder of her. Then people would ask about it and he would talk about her like he was a father figure of sorts. He never really had anything to brag about before other than his cooking.
Taking a sip from his cup, Carl listened to Georgia's theory and he just about died of laughter, almost spitting out his drink. "PFFFT AHAHAHA" His cheeks scrunched up to his eyes and he beamed a contagious smile. after he apologized for his outburst of laughter, he wiped a tear from his eye. he hadn't laughed that hard in a good long time. "oh man, heh, please excuse me"
Then Carl's eyes widened as Georgia spoke about her dad. It was great to hear that he was so comfortable with clemy. even though hes a great guy and Carl knew he would never steer her wrong. It's just that even after he and Georgia convinced him that clemy was a great addition to their family, he still had these lingering feelings of worry. He didn't know how friendly or involved he would be with clemy, and to hear this took a great weight off his shoulders. "thats great to hear. and clemy doesnt have to try and dazzle me, i was already impressed the first day i met her" he looked at clemy and smiled, glad she was surrounded by such supportive people, unlike those who had left her behind. "although, your pictures lookin a bit like that souffle Katie baked last week..." he leaned in close to clemy and loudly whispered, "in case you were wondering...that's a bad thing" he ruffled her hair and leaned back into the couch.
one heck of a reunion @ Georiga
Seeing the expression on Carl’s face, the red head felt a hint of a flush appearing on her pale cheeks. It hadn’t occured to her that he’d be skeptical as well, but it did make sense. After all, even she hadn’t entirely believed it would work! “Ya, I know it sounds crazy. I thought it mighta been a dare at first myself, but…" and then like a whirlwind, it seemed Carl finally understood, and he was suddenly talking so fast that Georgia simply blinked at him blankly as she tried to absorb all of the questions he’d just asked her.
"Uncle Carl, you’re so funny!" Clemmy chimed in, giggling as she looked up at the two adults for a lingering moment before looking back at her work, which was, of course, all over the place in terms of colours.
Georgia laughed lightly herself. It seemed Carl really hadn’t changed that much. He had always been one to get excited easily. Generally she herself only got so excited when it came to equestrian related things, but she thought his enthusiasm was rather attractive actually. At least she always knew he was interested in what she had to say. “I don’ know much about her, though. She was young an’ pretty, with pointy ears. Her name was Miss Cecilia." she paused thoughtfully, pondering over what he’d said and then smiling sheepishly. “Well, I mean.. I was able to take Clemmy with me, so… It might work if I’m… You know.. Carryin’ ya or somethin’…" she rubbed the back of her head and laughed nervously, wondering if that were even possible. “I haven’t had a chance to really test it out yet, y’know."
The idea of her dad and Carl seeing each other did make her smile, though. Her father seemed to have taken a liking to Carl, and to bugging Georgia about Carl, for that matter. Of course, she paid him no mind, but the old man still liked to bring his name up often enough. “He’s doin’ great. As nosey as ever." She laughed at the thought and had to fight the urge to roll her eyes. “He seems to really enjoy havin’ Clemmy around. He’s always playin’ with her an’ tryin’ to teach her new things.. He says she reminds him of me when I was little, which I suppose I can understand. Although she tries a lot harder in the kitchen than I ever did - I think because she wants to impress ya."

"a sweet treat coming right up! you can go ahead and sit at one one the bar-stools right there" he said and he went to work, still avidly listening to her story while he fiddled around in the kitchen. He was going to welcome her to the town with one of his most favorite sweet dishes, so she wouldn't forget her time here in town. He listened to her as he whisked away at something in a bowl. He turned and looked up at her. He just loved hearing travelers' tales, new adventures always excited him since he usually never traveled. and she sure did seem fascinating.
"your from Alvarna? holy cow, that's pretty far. why'd you come all the way out here? kinda boring round here to be honest, not much to see...." He continued shuffling around. He diced up some strawberries and threw them into what he was whisking. Then he bent down and reached inside a large cabinet, looking for a pan. When she finished talking, he sprang up, hitting his head clumsily on the top of the cabinet. He pulled back in pain and scratched at his head before looking at her, with the pot in his hand. "ow, sorry. did i just hear you say your looking for clues to find you dad? wow. n-not that that's like cool or anything that he's missing! but i mean, you don't hear that sort of thing everyday. Is it alright if i asked what happened to him?" Carl had a new-found respect for this girl, who seemed to be balancing a lot of responsibilities. Aria's story was way more interesting than his.

Carl raised his eyebrow and stared at her for a minute. this cant possibly be true, its crazy talk. But the expression she was giving off was completely serious, so he actually believed her. he probably wouldn't if it was anybody else. He stroked his hand through his hair and shook his head. "wow, your for real aren't you? well i guess stranger things have happened." suddenly it hit him, maybe magic was real! "where did you meet her? was she small? how old was she? when did you meet her? ohmygosh wait, whats her name?!" Carl said excited as a little kid just given a lollipop.
Then he sat back and laughed "sorry...i got a little excited. its just that's so cool that you got an opportunity like that. and its was really great of you to wish for that. Thanks Georgia. man, if only i could have it too. Then i could visit you guys on the farm, make surprise food deliveries, and get to see your dad too! man, its been a while since I've seen him. not since i convinced him to let ya keep Clemy. Hows he doin anyhow?"
one heck of a reunion @ Georiga
The moment Carl came into view with cucumber water, Clementine’s eyes became wide as saucers and she was suddenly bouncing in her seat. “Cucumber!!" she cried out happily. The kappa cucumber love had never gone away with this one, and she was clearly excited at the prospect.
"Clemmy, careful now." Georgia chuckled, putting a hand on the girl’s legs to keep her from bouncing right out of her chair. She then grinned up at Carl thankfully, “Thank ya kindly. Really."
And then he brought the little one something to occupy herself with, and Georgia was even more relieved. At least with this, Clemmy wasn’t likely to get into everything in Carl’s cafe. Sometimes the girl was far too curious for her own good. The colouring book made her gleefully get down from her chair and kneel down next to the table, though, and she flipped through the pages happily before getting up and attacking Carl with another hug. “Thank you, Uncle Carl! I’ll colour one for you to put up on your fridge, okay?" she bounced in his arms for a moment and then released him to get started on her pictures.
Turning her attention back to Carl, Georgia waved off his apologies, having figured he’d been busy these days. “Nah, no need to be sorry! I’m real happy that things are goin’ so well for ya. You’ve more than earned it!" she replied, taking her glass and holding it in her lap. “Heh, well… A little elf came an’ asked me to name a wish… An’ the only real wish I have is t’get to see ya more often, honestly… Otherwise, my life is real good, y’know? So, I asked if she could somehow make it so I could teleport to different towns for visitin’ purposes, and well…"
She paused to take a drink and then shrugged her shoulders, “I thought she was pullin’ my leg, to be quite honest with ya, but… Clearly, that ain’t the case, ‘cause here we are. Right now. With you."
And they’d both missed him. It really was the only wish she had had to make, to be able to see Carl again. Some might have wished for Clementine to be a human child, but Georgia was happy with her daughter the way she was. Why change something that wasn’t broke? Clemmy was a beautiful girl already, inside and out, and she didn’t care what anyone else thought about that.

Carl watched in amazement as she chugged the water. wow, she must have been really thirsty. He smiled and turned to blush slightly as she commented on him being inspiring, no one had ever called him that before. That definitely made up for her "young" comment earlier. It probably even made his day. "heh, i uh...um, thanks...a-a bunch" He tried to tone his dorky side down but he failed, fumbling his words. He was just incredibly flattered. "oh! recommendations? well honestly, everything is pretty good. i could always surprise you. are you in the mood for something sweet? or perhaps breakfast? anything you'd like ill make, just say the word. Except for pickled dishes, thats on my no-no list" He said while cleaning one of the cups with a rag.
"i'd love to hear it! i'm sure its just as interesting, maybe even more. we have time to kill, dont we?"

As Carl gathered the refreshments, he could hear the playful banter between Clemy and Georgia. He couldn't help but chuckle and shake his head. He quickly cut up some fresh cucumbers and placed them in a pitcher. He figured that cucumber water would be perfect for this anniversary of sorts. Then his first impulse was to grab a sippy cup, but he quickly put it back, realizing that Clemy was surely old enough to drink on her own. The thought baffled him for a moment, and he gulped, realizing how time had flown. He felt old. bleh. He shook it off and tried to stay clear of those thoughts. but now that you mention it, carl had been wondering about the future. Of course, he would have this cafe, but there was always the thought of new adventures. He often wondered who would stay with him through his life, like friends. he wondered how everyone would play out in his life, like georgia. he wondered how long their friendship would last, even with the long distance. He hoped she and clemy would be in his life for a while, they had such a fresh energy about them.
Carl walked over to the couch and placed the cups and pitcher on the table near the couch. He poured them glasses and handed them each one. Then he dashed to the other side of the room and came back, with a coloring book in hand. He set it down next to clemy and smiled "thought you'd might like this. It's a little present, nothin too special. Just be sure to make it look pretty for me" he sat on the couch and looked at georgia. "oh! and im sorry about not sending letters as frequently, business has been crazy lately. well actually, i don't think that's necessarily a bad thing." Carl took a sip from his cup and leaned back on the couch. "sooo. whats all this magic tom foolery stuff im hearing about?"
one heck of a reunion @ Georiga
"That’s a relief! I’m really glad!" Georgia was thrilled to see him again, more so than she cared to admit. Because of the distance between them, and the fact they both ran shops, it had always been hard to actually see him face-to-face. Really, she would have to try and track down Ceci and give her a big hug - even if she didn’t know the poor girl at all. “Heh, ya. It’s a bit of a strange story."
Clementine giggled at the pat on the head, bouncing herself as she watched him head over towards the door. She was about to bound after him, when Georia snaked an arm around her daughter’s waist. “Now, Clemmy. Let’s go wait for Uncle Carl in the back, all righ’?"
"Aw, mom…" the Kappa puffed her cheeks up in a pout, but didn’t put up a struggle. “Fineeee…" she muttered, going limp in Georgia’s arms so the red-head practically had to carry her into the back.
"Best behaviour now, little filly." Georgia replied with an amused smile. “Don’ wanna get yourself in trouble with Uncle Carl, do ya?"
As Georgia pulled Clementine into the back, she found them both a place to sit and smiled, finding herself glancing over her shoulder towards Carl. He had grown since she’d last seen him, and yet, he was still the same, sweet Carl she’d known and loved. It felt like it had been way too long since she’d last seen him, and yet, in a way, it felt like just yesterday. Probably because she thought of him so often. Writing letters and talking on the phone was just not the same, though.

Carl went to go fetch a nice cold cup of cucumber water. He was a little upset that she took notice of his young appearance. no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't get his babyface to begone, and it tortured him. who would take him seriously when he really wants to be a business man and start a food franchise of his own? of course, that was a dream that was a little far off at the moment, but none the less it bothered him. But he didn't take too much offense when the girl asked, he knew she couldn't have meant it tauntingly. "well actually, i'm 19. So i guess i am pretty young given that most nineteen year olds don't own their own restaurant, heh" he poured the water into the glass and looked up at her.
"oh, and as for the restaurant: it was given to me. an extremely kind gesture i might add. it was actually my assistant's grandparents who gave me this place. they were too old to be running the cafe and just wanted to retire, so they gave me the keys knowing i'd take good care of it. Her family knows me pretty well, we go way back. So Katie talked them into letting me have my dream. Run a successful cafe and serve wonderful people-" Carl handed her the cup and nodded his head with a smile. "-like you" he put his hands on his hips and made an over exaggerated wink while saying "wink" out loud.
"so then little lady," he looked down at her, noticing she was a little shorter than him "whats your story then? i'd love to hear about it. and let me know if you want anything else, my cooking is to die for, Carl guarantee! well...actually, that would be tragic if you died. nevermind. Carl guarantee canceled"

Carl swatted her compliment away with a hand motion "oh, are you kidding? you couldn't have come at a better time! besides i always have time for you guys." Carl then raised an eyebrow. "wait...magic?" he was confused but intrigued. "okay, we obviously really need to catch up. i wanna hear all about your cooking, missy" he said pointing at Clemy. He looked at the clock and back at Georgia. "you two can join me in the back if you'd like. i mean, the cafe opens in 15 minutes so i'm sure we wont be bothered for a while." he motioned to the back section of the restaurant, which was sectioned off from the main part , but still visible.
"why don't you two pop a squat on the couch back there and i'll join you in a sec, i'll get you two some refreshments. must be tired from all that magic, eh?" He jogged over to the back, ruffling Clemys hair on the way. He couldn't believe how amazing both of them looked. Clemy was cuter than a cherry pie, and Georgia was...well...Georgia. Her natural tomboyish look never faded and he was thankful for that. god how he missed them. Just something about them brightened his day, just like in high school. he was so giddy, and couldn't stop himself from bouncing around like a fool. he feared he was talking to fast as well, but he couldn't help it.
one heck of a reunion @ Georiga
Georgia stepped inside after Clementine, wanting to give the little one a chance to maul Carl before she approached him herself. It was always so sweet, the way her little eyes lit up when she saw him. He was really good with her, even now, and she smiled in something like adoration as she watched him lift her off her feet and twirl her around.
The young kappa giggled gleefully, still not at the age where she’d swat him for embarrassing her, thankfully. Instead, she beamed at him as he set her down, “I’ve been practicing my cooking for ya, too!" she said proudly, glancing over at her mom and stepping aside so they could have their moment, although she was bouncing excitedly on the balls of her feet as she watched them.
"Aw, Carl! Always such a flatterer!" Georgia replied, her cheeks warming as she hugged him tightly. Oh, how she’d missed seeing him all the time! Perhaps with Ceci’s magic, that would all change, though. Hopefully it lasted. “You look handsome as always, Carl! Looks like you’re doin’ quite well for yourself here, too. Hope we didn’t come at a bad time, but… We could hardly wait to see if the err.. Magic, worked."

"well hey, proms not for everyone! don't get too down. i mean i really wasn't even going to go either because i knew i wouldn't have the courage to ask georgi-" he stopped with a petrified look in his eyes and straightened his back. "a girl. yup. some... totally random girl who i have yet to name" he blushed, realizing he almost slipped up- no. he definitely slipped up. he swore to himself in his head and buried his face deep within his hands. He hated talking about things like this, even if it was just Popuri. "you herd me, didn't you..." his muffled voice just barley escaping his hands.
Coffee Talks II @ popuri
"Okay?" Tilting her head, Popuri smiled. “Oh, right!" waving her hands in the air in a frantic motion, she looked back to Carl. “Prom is coming up, isn’t it?!" She now looked nervous and shocked, staring into her coffee. “No.. he um… didn’t ask me yet." Frowning she grabbed the cup, taking a small sip.
"I don’t even know if I’ll go to prom… but it would be fun!" she pursed her lips, looking up at him. "Oooohhhh, who are you going to ask? Or, want to ask?!" she gave a wide grin, interested in who he liked.

Carl had just recently opened up his new cafe, and it was a pretty good success. But like any other business, there were always slow days. Just like today. He had let his assistant ,Katie, go home early, while he took it easy and read in the back. So now it was just him, his book (that has always has something to so with food), and the relaxing but certainty not cheesy music streaming in the Cafe. He was so into his book that he didn't hear the bell ding to signal there was a customer. So he was startled when he herd a girl call out within the cafe. He thought it was Katie, but the tone sounded a slightly different than hers. So he closed his book, not really caring where he left off, and went to the front, surprised to see a fresh new face standing there.
"oh my goodness, i'm terribly sorry! i don't usually have to much business on these days, so i wasn't really paying attention. My other waitress is out, so please forgive me for not being here. i usually hear the bell..." he said trying not to sound too flustered. He examined the girl. she was definitely someone who he'd never seen before, since he knows everyone in the town. The Cafe doesn't get too many new faces, so he was excited and didn't want to seem rude. "you must be new here, because i'm sure i'd recognize such a pleasant face like yours" he smiled and held out his hand. "i'm Carl, i own and run this Cafe. and don't worry, my hands are clean!"

Departing the train came with a rush of salt-tinged wind and a lot of relief, Aria felt like she could kiss the grassy carpet after being so motion sick. She thought it would be fun to take a day trip on a train, now she was dreading the trip home. Stepping off from the platform, she wobbled and grabbed the railing. “I don’t feel so good—" Hurp. Her breakfast went right over the edge. Embarrassed, she wiped spit off of her mouth, glancing around to see if anyone saw. Thankfully the area was vacant.
But now her moth tasted horrible! Aria loved eggs for breakfast, but not so much the second time. Where can I get some grub around here? She stroked her face, feeling somewhat better after emptying her agitated tummy. She walked toward the beach, following her nose to a sweet smelling cafe right off the shore. The windows were filled with treats that renewed her hunger, and a small bell chimed as she opened the door, ringing in the wonderful smells of the bakery.
She approached the counter, squinting her eyes at the chalkboard menu on the wall beyond it. There was no one present to take her order or chitchat with while deciding on something. “Hello?" she called softly.

Obviously Carl was the first person Georgia wanted to visit with this new magical ability of hers, and Georgia had been quick to gather up the five year old Clementine and use Ceci's magic to send them off to Flowerbud Village. Standing just outside of the cafe, Georgia held her head, shaking the dizziness away before setting the toddler on the ground. "Okay, Clemmy. You go in there and surprise your uncle Carl, okay?" The Kappa nodded her head and bounded inside, "UNCLE CARL!!"
Carl was busy cleaning off the tables and counters, he needed to make sure the Cafe was clean before it opened up. He tiredly scrubbed one of the counter-tops with his rag and looked at the time. The cafe would be open shortly, so he should be expecting people to come soon. But what he didn't expect were the people that happened to be his first customers of the day. He herd a child like yell and snapped his head up. He thought he was hallucinating, he had to be. But the noise came from none other than his old friend Georgia and her little kappa. He hadn't seen them for ages. Ever since he went on the road after High-school to pursue his dream, he was sure he wouldn't see them again. It was a bitter goodbye and he hated to leave them and his friends behind, and now he couldn't believe they were back. His face had the most hilariously dumbfounded look because he couldn't believe what he was seeing. Finally, once it all registered his face instantly lit up like lighter. He ran over and twirl-hugged the kappa while shouting "Clemy!" he put her down and shook his head. "man, its not as easy to pick you up anymore, look how much you've grown!" he looked up at Georgia and gave her a huge hug. he pulled her out of it and looked at her. "and you haven't aged a bit" he said smiling so hard he could hurt himself.

Carl smiled, relieved he didn't make a fool of himself, he scratched his head as she complimented him, embarrassed. "pff, me? i'm okay..." He looked up at her and smirked with a slight genuine smile. He hoped Popuri and himself would be great friends in the future, he had no doubt in his mind that their strange friendship was going to last.
what she said reminded him of something. "thanks popi....uh hey, isn't prom coming up? did he ask you?!" Carl said excited and eyes widened. "or...are you not going? cuz i'm still debating on going too. i cant get enough courage to ask this one girl."
Coffee Talks II @ popuri
“Thank you so much Carl.” she patted his arm lovingly, then leaned back against the booth. His words really spoke to her, and told her to follow her heart. He definitely was good at giving advice, even if he did ramble on forever.. It made her feel better though, which was all that mattered. But one thing did pop into her mind, she hoped that her and Carl would be friends for a really long time.
Popuri smiled at him and took a sip of her coffee. “You’re going to find someone wonderful Carl, I know it. And don’t settle for anyone else, because your really are great.”

TMI Tuesday: What is the first five things that you do after you wake up in the morning?
"hmm letsee....OH! i usually check my phone, then jump in the shower for a little while, then cook the biggest and most fabulous, balanced breakfast anyone has ever seen (because gosh darn it breakfast is important), then i lay on the couch unable to move for an hour or two, and lastly i lay there looking back on life and regretting my decision. i do this every morning and never learn my lesson heh."

"tsfff, me? jealous? puul-ese, heh" he said not making eye contact and scratching at his shirt, relieved she pulled away. He looked back and listened to her talk, leaning against the booth as well with crossed arms. every time she paused he would hum a little "mmhmm" to tell her to keep going, since it seemed she had a hard time getting it out. She asked him for advice and then face-planted in frustration, which startled Carl a bit. He could sense the desperation in her voice, and felt bad that she was so stressed out over a tiny little thing. But of course, it might not be small to her, she was making it out to be a bigger deal than Carl thought, but he's never been in a relationship, so he wouldn't really know. But if it meant that much to her, then Carl was going to console her in the best way he could manage. He thought for a moment as hard as he could, he didn't want to steer her the wrong way. Finally, he gently lifted her head up from the table. "hey, i don't think taking it out on the table is gonna help you. it has hopes and dreams too, ya know" He smiled and put his arms on the table. "What you did was perfect. it was perfect because you did what your heart told you to do. and when you start doing things that your heart doesn't approve of...well, you lose the happiness and control in your life. And besides, your heart always knows the answer, trust me. and if others don't like what you do, then don't have them in your life, it's not worth it." He stirred his hot coco with one hand and leaned his head into his other. "Besides, true love isn't something that comes everyday. You cant find it in a hour or a day. It takes time...just like a good dish! you need to put time and effort into it, or it will just end up tasting bad...heh, or you could think of it as a plant, you can relate to that more. Every plant needs patience, time, and love, just like a good relationship. And i can only assume that you of all people would understand that. It's great that your a gardener, because you mindlessly taught yourself a life value without even knowing!" He paused, realizing he was rambling. "but, i guess what i'm trying to say is that you shouldn't waste your time with people who don't want to put forth the effort, you know? because....your like that pretty flower, you need time and love just like they do. all humans do....but he sounds like a great guy, so if he really likes you, he'll definitely understand where you're coming from. I know it...." he said as he stared into the remains of his hot coco, which was fairly cool by now. He hoped to goddess he didn't mess that up, he didn't want to sound stupid, after all, no ones ever asked him for advice before.
Rolling her eyes, Popuri placed her hands on her lap. “Why do you want to know anyways, Carl? About me and another guy? Are you jealous?” she leaned over to place her nose against his, wiggling her eyebrows. “Because I know you are.” Giggling, she backed away from him and laid back against the booth. “It’s just… well.. there’s this guy…” she started off, staring into the distance. “He treats me really well, and we hit it off from the beginning.” The pinkette blushed and covered her cheeks. “He kissed me… but I said I wanted to take things slow. Y-You think that was a good thing, right?” she looked over at Carl, desperate for an answer. “I mean, we have known each other for a few weeks now, but I really don’t like rushing into relationships…” she sighed, face-planting onto the table.

Dear Diary… (6-10-13) [AU]
i'm glad schools going so well. I mean, i honestly was really nervous to actually go to a school, but everyone around is making it so much easier on me. Like Katie, and Georgia, and rod, and Popuri, and...oh you get what i mean. The fact is that i could go on for a while about the nice people I've met. I hope i can meet even more throughout the school year (even though it's coming to a close, yikes).
Things have been a little on the chill side. I've just been going to work and goofing around with different ingredients for dishes. I've been spending a lot of time at home, maybe that should change. Although, i did go to the park with Georgia and Clementine. Oh, i forgot to tell you about her. i mentioned her last time but things have changed a bit since then. She checked up on me and introduced me to her kappa baby. She says many people find it weird or gross, but that's how most people find me to be, heh. I actually like the kappa a lot more than i thought i would, i think i'm just glad i was able to see past the green skin...but ever since then, we've talked and hung out together with clemy. I really think she's going to be one of my best friends by the looks of it. Just like popuri. We've warmed up to each others company enough to where we actually are able to talk for a bit without teasing each other (but it doesn't last long!). She's really a sweet person, but she's really childish, which makes her a great friend candidate for me. She's just so interesting, but with her, you gotta know the right buttons to push to get her to open up a little, and i think i've figured it out a little. but trust me, i'm no secret agent, i bet she can figure me out just as easily.
Also, Katie recently told me that she was going on a date. I don't mean to be weird, but gah. I'm just really worried okay? shes like my little sis, and i don't want any boys contaminating her, especially since shes so credulous. She hasn't really text me back at all and i'm starting to worry. Did it happen? is she alright? was it a disaster? was it so amazing that she falls in love instantly and forgets about me?.....oh what am i saying! get that junk outta your head Carl! she's fine, you don't have to baby her, shes fine on her own like this...maybe.
wow. looking at this entry makes me realize that i really need more guy friends! heh, i guess im just so popular with the ladies, eh? oh well
ʅ(◔౪◔ ) ʃ -signed, the bro-less, Carl Callaway
