Portfolio Entry 4 (option A)
Rachel Zegler is an actress who became famously known for her role as Maria in West Side Story and was very well-liked after that role, after that she has gotten new roles such as Lucy Gray Baired in the new Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. The actress recently got a new role in the famous live-action Disney film Snow White, but the actress has gotten a lot of backlashes and is being called a “PR nightmare”. In interviews when asked about the new movie, she said that she did not grow up watching the original film and started mocking the movie by saying, “It’s no longer 1937 [Snow White is] not going to be saved by the prince. And she’s not going to be dreaming about true love. She’s dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be.” that comment from Zegler released a lot of backlash with people starting to hate her and saying that Disney should fire her and get a new snow white who likes the film and is willing to bring the story to real life, as the other actresses have done for Disney in new live-action movies that have started to come out over the years. Fans of the original film have been hoping that she would be fired, but what she needed more was a lot of PR training, she makes some comments in other interviews that even fans have said that she needs more training. Weeks later you can tell that she has been talked to about this after a rumor came out that she got fired for the role of Snow White. In recent interviews for her new movie The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes she has been getting asked about the new Snow White film, and you can tell her attitude and opinion of the movie has completely flipped, people have noticed that she has finally gotten the proper PR training she was being made fun of, and that hatred towards her getting fired from the film has slowly started to disappear. This reveals why celebrities have a person who helps them when it comes to interviews because, without the proper training, they could say something they might regret and have potential consequences towards them. Her team has tried to switch those opinions they have about her and get her a lot of attention in her new Hunger Games film which she started to get that love back from fans.

A brand or ad that has stood out to me over these past 10 years is the Coca-Cola ad with their “Share a Coke” campaign. The brand started selling all kinds of cokes with people's names on the back of the bottle. The reasoning behind the whole campaign was for teens, coca-cola had noticed that in the year before 10 million teens had not had a Coke; so, that's where they came up with their “Share a Coke” campaign, it encouraged teens to share a drink with their friends and make it fun by having a bottle with their names on it. More teens connected with the brand and helped sales increase even more. This campaign became popular on the internet, trending the hashtag #ShareaCoke all over media platforms. That year 1.25 million teens tried Coke and Coke already a big company, sales grew even more by 11% in the United States. It became a big trend everywhere, and eventually, coca Coca-Cola made an app “Shake a Coke” where you can go in and put any name on the bottle or any phrase, when this came out even myself and my family ordered personalized glass Coke bottles with all of our names which, we still have to this day. This campaign was big in the US but quickly became a big success all over the world, it was fun it had people running around looking for bottles in different stores if one didn't have theirs. Eventually, by putting more names out and last names, they added phrases such as best friend or better halves which was even more of a reason to keep sharing a coke with a friend, then even song titles. This campaign won multiple awards for its creativity. This became coca colas most iconic and successful campaign they have ever done. They wanted to market their product even bigger and they did just that, it was truly a brilliant campaign, with being able to personalize it to its limited time and the emotional connection one could have with being able to personalize a bottle for themselves. Overall the campaign was successful all over the world, it was a great marketing strategy that would be forgotten and was loved by all, which is hard to do but they successfully made it happen and were able to bring family and friends together to have a good time by just sharing a coke.

Portfolio Entry 2 (option #2)
On a daily basis, I am consumed by media for hours. I kept track of what type of social media I have been using this past week, for how long each day, and for what I used it for or searched up. In the morning the first thing I usually do is check to see if I have any notifications or any text messages, then what I realized is that I unconsciously go straight to TikTok after that, I noticed it is the app I use the most often, it says weekly I will use the app 15 HOURS or more, and in the morning I will look at the app for only a minute but, I am so used to going straight to TikTok and opening it up, even if its only for a second. TikTok has been the biggest consumption in the day but I use it also as a Google, for example when I want to learn how to cook something I go straight to TikTok, or for my news reports again straight to TikTok. I would say it also is like selective exposure because we control what type of media we are exposed to, the app is to our liking and if its something of our beliefs we are more into it because we are on the side of media that others with your same interest are on, so we get sucked into more than we already are, almost like a virtual bonding experience.
Like everyone else, I occasionally use Instagram and Snapchat but, not as much as others use it, I use more Spotify. I've noticed that since I moved to Spain I have spent more time on Spotify than I had before. Since in the city, I have a lot of times I walk or use the metro more I don't like walking alone with no noise or not talking to someone, so I always have my headphones on. I'm not listening to music but I listen to podcasts, there is not a day I won't do this, especially when walking to school and back home I get a bunch of the newest news about social media from these podcasts of people my age talking about random things, but still I enjoy it and continue to listen to them. All in all, we are constantly being consumed by social media in different ways throughout the day and until we take a look at it we don't realize exactly how much we are consumed by it.
