hey quick q how did you name your mspfa cuz i am. Struggling. lol.

OKAY!! well. i guess it really depends? but let me try to rustle the memories on how i did cg and bbas out of my brain for you

note: this is how i do it, and these are my silly, arbitrary rules! do not feel pressured to follow in my footsteps

for bbas: first i was like. okay, i need to have alphaswap in the title (cuz it's a swap au but focuses on the alpha kids) but i didn't want it to just be alphaswap. so i was like betabound is cool! bcuz i don't often like going by the [word]bound / [word]stuck

(i mostly don't like it cuz i couldn't find a way to make it interesting for myself. you can obviously do that if you want, it simply wasn't for me. until. now i guess? hahah)

anyway. then i had the issue: betabound alphaswap is a looooong fucking name. so i shortened it to the acronym bbas!!

in the original MSPFA icon, i didn't have the full name in it. (though it was really just a quick animation cuz i was just so eager to get the story out) now i do! and i think the current icon is fun and attention grabbing, just like bbas! (which i pronounce bee-bass out loud and when i think about it. not bee-bee-aye-ess. but you can do so that way if you like!)

for cg: now compass guided is... well. 8 years old this year! so i'll do my best to remember what i thought about it when i created it!

i definitely went for the noun-verb/adjective title that homestuck has. but i wanted it to be simple and display the whole story of what it's going to be about. yes, there are four kids who play a game but also it's about a red compass! (i always thought the jujus in hs were so cool! love caliborn's crow bar)

and that is what i wanted to be the hook for the story.

which i kinda did spoil once i decided that the hand icon was... boring. but hey. nothing's explicitly stated just yet!!! :3

a reflection, upon cg, upon me, and who i am now.

compass guided started as a silly little project the summer after homestuck ended. i was 15, and about to enter junior year. i remember crying when hs ended, it was a good cry obviously.

i wanted to make something like it!

so. i was already spriting- and admittedly pretty new to it! lots of sakurablitz and tajazzled bases for me! i found a REALLY old concept sprite of mylo. i've always wanted to go with a prince of time. the classpect fascinated me!

though it's funny to think, the sylph of doom (the professor) and witch of breath (leon) both ended up following into modern compass guided. some parts of current cg are still from when i was 15! i'm 22 now!!

i would send screenshots over skype to my friends of my progress! the program saved it all. kinda nuts! though man...

the contrast on that last pic is kinda rough. only started learning that now that i need higher contrast for my poor eyes!!!!

YOWCH. i can't see what's going on here!! where are your eyebrows ???

though THIS... this oh my god. i drew every individual frame of this in paint tool sai from 10 pm to 5 am, and put it all together in an online gif creator.

i still use it now since it maintains my gif's colors better than csp does (csp has a limited palette and warps things. i know i can use photoshop but. i do naught like it)

anyway, high school was rough! i was distracted a LOT. i started cg and restarted it in the same month!

i got distracted by being an artist for another fandom- caught up with... well. All of that, which is a post for a different day. and then i graduated high school.

and went to college, and did very badly at it!

and then i got better, but i became disabled. i had a lot of time on my hands!!!

so... i turned back to what i made back as a fun little project for myself, and let it blossom

and here i am!!! and i'm still kinda messy and disorganized with this comic, but i've learned so much and i know i will continue to learn more!!!

cg has taught me animation, css, html, character building, and so, so much more!!

we're on the front page of mspfa, and while that's fun and i'm so ecstatic about it- i'm honestly happier that i've been able to maintain something that's like... me for this long!!

compass guided is a reflection of myself, and it's a love letter to myself now, and who i was when i was a child.

so! what now? well, i think i'm just going to keep posting like this. showing unused/removed art, concepts left behind, and some stuff for the future!
