Vicious cycle
There's always this point in my year when I retreat completely. Everything is going great and then suddenly I'm having to make extra effort in social situations to seem present. I easily succumb into avoiding hanging out with people and remaining inside my mind, as if I'm watching the world move by from a window seat. I can never come to a conclusion as to what the root cause is for this "mood", but I do know that when this mood takes place, my anxiety hikes up and I suddenly feel like I'm pushing people away, that I'm annoying those around me and I start to tell myself people will be happier if I'm just not around. The last time this happened was during rush last spring. I would actually cry on the phone with my mom because I was forced to go to these events for rush requirements but my stability wasn't there to get me through it. I forced myself to so much until eventually the mood passed, after maybe 2-3 months. Summer hit and I was no longer required to do anything and I got better. But this time, I'm not forced to do anything. I'm not sure where this is stemming from, but I just feel like shutting down all my connections to the outside world and drifting away so I can stop annoying people, so I can stop being a thought in someone's mind. What is wrong with me.
