OUTPUT 10 THE ENDING

         Last day, this not the end but this is the beginning. The beginning of their new learning and knowledge. We are very thankful to that community because they welcome us very warm. And we thank our chosen family because we feel that we are not strangers. We are thankful to our teacher for that project to learn and experience others life and to observe the human condition in that community. And we are very thankful to God because we are safe and secured.

I am ready to graduate yesss!!!!

OUTPUT 9 GIVING GIFTS

            Day 6, we bought gifts for our chosen family. It is a thanks giving gift because they welcome us to their home and to their community. They are very kind to us. No more explanation, they are a real Filipino because although they are poor they still happy and always smiling and kind to their fellow countrymen.

OUTPUT 8 CLEANING ACTION

In my fifth day, after overnight, we woke up then we get ready for cleaning up the canals in the community. I, and Denz bought the cleaning materials for our cleaning project, after we bought the materials, we start the cleaning action. It was very hard because its smells bad and all of their wastes are inside the canals. But it is our community project and we must clean it and deliver change to community to be aware them for mosquito dengue and other epidemic disease because of their wastes. We took a lot of hours to finish the cleaning project. Fortunately, we did it very well.

OUTPUT#7 DENGUE PREVENTION

                           In my fourth day, I put our printed hands out to the wall. That hands out is all about the prevention of dengue. This hands out will educate the locals on how to prevent dengue and what are the symptoms of mosquito dengue. After we put it on the wall, we have talk to the locals and explain about the cleanliness and the prevention of mosquito dengue. Fortunately, the locals are behaved and they listen carefully because they know that this is for the sake of them especially the children.

OUTPUT #6 OBSERVING THE COMMUNITY

In my day 3, it also Friday because I continued my duty and I made it whole day. In the afternoon, I accompanied Butchukoy to sell steel and bottle to the junkshop. It is nothing to do so I decided to have story with them. I discovered that they are from Laguna. They migrated to here for the sake of better life. I discovered a lot of things about their family. I also witness the cleanliness and health of the children. One of the child I saw was pooping worm. Her mother said that it is because of their foods.

           In the community, they are busy in that day so I decided to observe only. Our project must be clear. Because their canal is very dirty, a lot of poops is inside it. So we need the help of the authority.

OUTPUT#5 SOCIALIZING WITH FUN

In that day, we are almost trained about socializing and doing our project to be part of the community. In the morning, we went to our chosen family to check them if they are alright. Later, the youngest son of that family named Butchukoy, Glenn and me, played basketball. We played basketball with the people inside that community. We socialized them and we ask for their friendship, and fortunately, we have new friends. After we played basketball, we helped Butchukoy to get water in the water pump. Glenn and I, are alternately pumped the water pump to help Butchukoy.

Output #4 The Beginning of Socializing

In that day, I was expecting that it will be an easy work because I have a lot of experience in terms of socializing with other part of society. But it is a not so easy day. In the beginning, we meet up in my classmate house to have a meeting first before we proceed to the community.

When we are in community already, interview and profile of the people in community is the task that my leader gave to me. In asking different question to the citizens of that community, they are not so hard to ask, they are friendly and talkative except to the last house that I have been interviewed.

After I interviewed them, I helped the son of our chosen family to get water in the water pump. After that I went to their house then socialized with the children. The children was so naughty and harmful. They was playful that sometimes we get hurt. But we always remember that to act professional and observed that life of that community. After our work done, I prepared my things then I went home.

Perspective

1.      Social Science

 The people who lived in, was unified by their geographical location. Brgy. Salcedo 2 Noveleta, Cavite became the address of various people who originally came from different province. They were unified by their interest to have a better life here at Cavite but it is the opposite of their expectations.

2.      Ecological Perspective

This community was unified not only for their beliefs, norms and values but also for their social influence. A lot of residence of this community was encouraged to live in because of opportunities that may have. A lot of family, influenced their relatives to live in for to take chance for a better life.

3.      Sectoral Perspective

In this community, they have same interest, and that is to have profit for the sake of their family. They have different business and works that interacts their relationship. Some residence have sari sari store and some have ukay ukay relating to a distinct part of barangay Salcedo 2.

4.      Civil Society Perspective

The social issue in this community is lack of cleanliness. They don’t have proper trash cans and comfort rooms to put their wastes. The river is their comfort room, all of their wastes will go to the river. When we visited this area, a lot of plastic trash and wastes are on the floor only. It will be the source of sickness and epidemic disease of their community. Some NGO are trying to cure this problem, but this is not enough because residence are not knowledgeable about this type of social problem.

Structure

Technological

In this community, they have electricity for having the lights and to be functional their appliance. As I see their house, they have enough lights and electricity but, the current is came from jumper only. The wires are untidy and it may cause fire.

Electricity is their main technological equipment. As a poor community, I expect that they don’t have much technological tools.

 Definition of Community

As I witnessed the community of brgy. Salcedo 2 Noveleta, Cavite, given that they lived in same place I can defined community as influencing relatives and friends to live in same area. They are also dealing with same interest and that is to have a better life so they take the opportunities here and transfer from different provinces. They also facing same social issues and problems. They have something in common in that particular area.

OUTPUT #2 Structure of Community Mar’s Barbershop

Political aspect

           The community where I lived in is have a political structure. In our barbershop, my father is the president that keep the barbers and customers in peace and order. In our barbershop, the all-around authority is my father. He is tolerating and encouraging everyone inside the barbershop to be a disciplined citizen in this country.

Economical aspect

           In our community, it is obvious that we are prioritizing economic improvement. We are business as usual. We tolerate our barbers to be a productive citizen in this country. We are stabilizing and build a community that is beneficial to economic growth of Imus, Cavite especially the Philippines.

OUTPUT #1 Ideal Community Stabilized Community

Technological

In this case, my ideal community must have the basic technological equipment such as cameras for recording actions especially in times of crimes, speakers for announcing, and other important technologies that can use for dealing with our environment.

Economic

           Economic development is one of the priority of my ideal community. It can result a higher standard of living.  It is the way to improve our quality of life by creating jobs and productive business.

Political

           Authority must have the control for stabilization of a community. The power given by the people to authority should not be abused. It must use for keeping the community in peace and order. And they must remember that public service and politics are two different things.

Institutional

           My ideal community must be liberated and open minded but in respectful way in terms of interacting each other behavior. Elders, children, pwd, and women are prioritize to keep the community organized because they are more vulnerable in case of emergency. And all the men must be gentlemen because this is a Filipino manner that we must retain.

Aesthetic Values

           To have this type of values, a community must give importance to their surroundings and environment. The citizens must be positive to their surrounding’s steadiness and balance. An ideal community must be constructive and affirmative.

Beliefs

              Each of us have various and different beliefs. We cannot please everybody to agree to our beliefs. So an ideal community must respect each beliefs unless you’re not trampled on human to prevent destabilization the community. An ideal community must accept and respect each other’s beliefs to maintain peace and order to our community.

OUTREACH PROGRAM EXPERIENCE

GOD’S SPECIAL CHILDREN

Special Education in Imus  Pilot Elementary School is one of many SPED CENTERS here in Cavite and its ultimate goal is  to be the integration or mainstreaming of learners with special needs into the regular school system and eventually in the community. Its aiming to teach special people that have disability or abnormal and it’s aiming to develop the maximum potential of the child with special needs to enable him to become self-reliant and shall be geared towards providing him with the opportunities for a full and happy life.

We organized a program and have an authorization from the school’s principal and teacher. We divided our group into different level. We have a program for arts, game, dancing and storytelling with acting. And at the end, we gave some gifts and foods for them.

When we are doing our program, one boy steals my attention, his nickname is Brent. He is very naughty and talkative. He always requested karakol song in our sound system. He always went to a place that is not part of program.

When dealing to them, we must be open minded and look for positive actions. We must stop and prevent our inappropriate feelings and actions to move right and correctly. We must not be a self-centered person because we must remember that they are special and need a special treatment.

MINOR SOCIAL WORK

LITTLE MEANS BIG

We found Lolo Berting sat in front of the streets of Red Ribbon near the highway begging for food and money. But before we found Lolo Berting, we came from various places along the Imus Market. We thought that searching for beggars who really need help is easy but we were wrong. We encountered different beggars with mental disability, so for the sake of our safety we decided to search a beggar that has a clear mind. So the story of Lolo Berting begins.

           Lolo Berting is 70 years of age. He lived in Toclong 1st Imus, Cavite. When we asked him about his past and personal life, he started to tell his story. His wife already passed away. He is a "byudo", and when we asked him about his children, he answered us that he has a daughter but has now left him alone and stopped taking care of him. He told us that his daughter was a nurse but he did not know where she lived now. Now, Lolo Berting is alone and sleeps under the overpass.

Appreciation Letter

My Great Grandpa

 When he first heard the letter he is only calm and relax. I understand that he cannot gave a shocking impressions because he is a man or what we called ”barako”. But when I observed, by the time that I read the thank him for caring and for unconditional love, his face is cannot be painted. I felt that my lolo is very happy because even he is very old and his grandchildren getting older and growing up, we never forget and we always remember the sacrifice of our great grandpa. He smiled when I read and thank him for washing my ass when I was a child.

I know that I will feel an awkward moment because we are not a dramatic family, but thanks to him for everything that he gave and sacrificed for his family. I am proud to say that my grandpa is great!

BEING A SOCIAL WORKER

ADVISING MY CLIENT’S LIFE PROBLEM

 When I was first commenting on twitter post of my clients, I thought that advising is easy. But when they post about their life problems, I start to think about what will be the best option of advice that I will give to them.  The most problem that I have encountered is the hate of their life and their self- esteem is going down.

The first problem that I have encountered is the problem of code name “small boat” at twitter. He posted “If you hate me, don’t worry I hate myself too”. I advised to him that don’t ever hate himself because there are always a solution in every problem that we will have. And always remember that God will never forget us in times of calamity. He is always there so cheer up.  And lately when I saw his reply to his another friend, he was fine and said that thanks I can do it.

The second problem of my clients is all about life too. IMCEZZUS posted “If you are going to enter my life and fuck shit up more then it already is  just don’t enter because honestly a nigga tired” I observing his problem first. I make a conclusion since I don’t know the person. So I gave him a general advice that he can apply to his problem. I said to him that it is okay to be tired but never surrender in life. And don’t ever loose hope in any problem that he will face. I also said that God is always monitoring us so don’t be shy to approach him. And after I said it, I did not saw his reply anymore, but I’m pretty sure that my advice will help him.
