Northlane are an emerging Australian metalcore band. Popular in their home country, they are finally making their debut on UK soil as part of the European Impericon Never Say Die tour this October,...
Northlane are touring the UK with some pretty awesome bands like Emmure, I Killed The Prom Queen, etc. next month, so our chief editor Amy (/accioramen) had a listen of their second album Singularity and wrote a cheeky review for the website.
They're doing a few tour dates locally, Manchester and Birmingham are both on the bill and not so far away from Keele Uni (both less than an hour on the train from Stoke-on-Trent station, which you can get the 25 to straight from campus). How about that for convenience? Check 'em out.

Look what turned up today! Freshers 2013 issue of Concourse, and it's amazing. Thanks so much to everyone who contributed, and I really can't wait until the rest of you get to see it too. Couldn't be happier with the first impression we'll be making on Keele Freshers!
It's free, it'll be in halls kitchens on campus, and it'll be everywhere... Welcome Festival, in stands in the union, at Society Sign Up Fair... being thrown at you from eager committee members.
Please pick one up, let us know if you like it, and get involved with future issues!

We at avadakeeledavra understand how nerve-wracking it can be when you want to join a society but you know no one there. But never fear, so that you’ll know at least a little about us before you get here we will be doing a ‘MEET THE TEAM’ event here on tumblr. Little bits of information about all of us, starting with the new Committee and then on to the rest. We should be posting one every few days, so keep an eye out :)

Welcome (or welcome back) to Keele!
Freshers, second/third years, postgrads, foundation-course students, PCGE, and whatever else Keele offers (that's all I can think of off the top of my head!)... are you excited for term to start? We are!
Concourse Magazine is Keele's only student publication (at the moment). In 2014 we'll be celebrating our fiftieth year of printing, although we used to be a newspaper. You can check out loads of past issues in the Keele library archives just by asking at the front desk, if you're interested.
Basically, what Concourse does is... throughout the year we publish about eight issues of our magazine, chock-full of articles, reviews, and fun stuff you might want to get involved with. We also have a website - ConcourseOnline, where we post plenty of articles throughout the year (yes, even over summer!).
Whether you just want to pick it up (for free) and have a read, or get involved in any way... you can get in touch to find out how. On Facebook, via email ([email protected]) Or follow us here and on Twitter @ConcourseOnline to get updates on the articles we're posting and events we're organising, alongside our friends KUBE Radio!
So... you want to get involved? Well you're already on Tumblr, so it's likely you know how to write a blog. To be honest, you don't need any writing experience to write for Concourse, everyone is welcome to share their opinions/story/news with us. Not great at grammar and punctuation? Don't worry... that's what editors are for. Concourse is a great way to put together an online and print-portfolio of articles and reviews while you're at university. It's something you can put on your CV, and being part of our society (we're actually a Student-Led Service, we're here specifically for YOU and everyone is welcome) is pretty much pressure-free. You can contribute (either writing, design, or photography) on a schedule that suits you, there's no commitment necessary - although I can promise you that when you do it once, you're going to want to do it again and again. Once you pop you just can't stop, sort of thing ;)
We'll be having plenty of socials, press-team meetings, meals, trips, etc. so there's the social side of things, but you don't have to turn up to them to write! All you have to do is register on our website (it's really easy and doesn't take long) then start submitting. If you're feeling a bit confused or worried about it, we'll be at Society Sign-Up Fair in the union on the Monday&Tuesday of Freshers week, and obviously will be happy to chat!
For now... join our Press-Team group on Facebook to keep up to date with content-deadlines, opportunities, socials, trips, etc.
