That is a good observation and you’d be correct to say Janus has it rough in this human au

Now I’m sorry but I’m using this as an excuse to ramble about my boy because I’ve been holding this all in for YEARSSSSSS

There are two main reasons for this occurring an irl one and a lore reason~

1. this au predates all of Janus’ character development. When this au was made Janus didn’t have a name, this au was either made before his release or shortly after? Which means the Janus we know and love today didnt exist we needed a villain so when we saw Deceit he became our victim of choice since we knew so little about his motivations. Do I regret making my boy so tragic? No he’s had it soft compared to Logan and Remy in this au

2. THE LORE REASON: Janus had a tragic upbringing and instead of ever growing as a person he just grew resentful. Feeling like if he ever stopped being angry his trauma wouldn’t be as important anymore and he’d gone through it all for nothing. (This is not a good mentality to have)

Additionally he’s yet to realize he doesn’t actually feel romantic attraction to people. What he feels for Virgil are just deep feelings of limerence and obsession that’s he’d mistaken for love. He sees Virgil as his ticket for unconditional love and acceptance and when that failed to work out when his feelings started to fade and he saw the reality of his situation he lashed out. Blamed Virgil instead of acknowledging it was his feelings his own actions that caused the issues in their relationship.

(This is also why Janus is such a poor partner to Remus)

Janus meets Virgil and after a while start dating. (This goes very badly for every single person involved and will have life altering consequences for the both of them<3)

Roman and Patton meet (they could also have met in college it’s up in the air)

Remy, Remus, Janus are friends.

Remy meets and befriends Emile they start dating shortly after

College:

Virgil and Janus break up (for the last time)

Logan is outcasted from his family and meets the rest of the gang.

Patton and Logan start dating

Roman and Virgil reunite and without Remus being present become friends and shortly start dating

Present times:

Janus is a mess after the break up and is taking it out on Remus

I’m directly responsible for writing the backstories of Logan, Roman&Remus, Janus and Remy so I can answer everything about them and their pasts the others (Virgil, Patton and Emile) have backstories written by a friend of mine but ask away regardless!

Any lore about this au will gladly be shared. I’ve had Logan’s backstory done for at least 5 years now so it’ll be nice to finally share it. Gosh this au is old

A good example of the dynamic these three have. You just know that Patton has a date scheduled with Remus later and everything this really is just him being overly dramatic.

The thing about Remus is he likes dating Patton but he’ll never fully commit because he’s desperately waiting for Janus to get over Virgil and finally date/marry him.

Patton is struggling because let’s face it the girl is a people pleaser set to max settings. Part of him knows Remus sucks but like multiple people love him and want to date her and maybe that’s reason enough to continue. Long term mental health issues? What’s that?

Logan is a jealous clingy little guy who is so convinced he’s hiding his displeasure. He thinks he’s keeping a straight face but nothing about that man is straight. Including the glares and scowls he gives anytime he sees Remus. However if Patton seems happy then logically why end their relationship. Instead he’ll just silently plan Remus’ demise you know like a normal person

All that to say. These three all need therapy. Maybe even….cartoon therapy?

They are both creative and passionate and I love them. That doesn’t stop them from being the biggest idiots on the planet. So alike yet so in denial about it.

Fight me on this fact but human au Patton is the scariest person I’ve ever met and by that I mean drawn. If it wasn’t for her never ending need to care for others and be loved he’d actually go feral. Maybe that’s why he dated Remus both are absolutely unhinged Patton just has the self respect to restrain herself and act cute.

Meanwhile Virgil thinks he’s soooo edgy but he’s just a sensitive little guy. Virgil goes fight me gets hit once and freaking dies he’s just not built for combat he’s built to be loved by his three boyfriends. That won’t stop him from acting like an overly aggressive chihuahua tho he’s ready to fight

Cannot believe this is only like the third time I’ve drawn human au Janus I need to draw my pathetic boy more often. My Human au Janus thinks money can buy happiness but to his dismay his money couldn’t buy Virgil’s happiness

Corruption is a disease that truly terrifies me. Imagine having all the memories of a person, all the mannerisms all the little secrets they have, yet you aren’t that person. That person is long gone yet you remain. What are you at that point?

Hardwire works hard everyday to find answers maybe one day he’ll figure it out. That or he’ll succumb to the wires and grow increasingly entangled around him who’s to say.
