i feel like a lot of people forget this, but blocking people with the block button only blocks them from interacting with your main blog. meaning if you run a nsfw sideblog and need to block ageless bios, minors, bigots/fetishists, people who steal porn, creeps, and harassers—then you have to go in on desktop and manually add their usernames to your sideblogs blocklist.
but what makes this complicated and stupid is that if you block somebody interacting with your sideblog, blocking them actually DOES hide their username. if you block someone following your sideblog the name will disappear from its followers list as well as all recent interaction, but you’ll notice that your follower count doesn’t actually go down. they’re not actually blocked. and they can still DM you and interact with your photos. try it now, block someone from your notes and watch them disappear but your follow count stays.
if you need to, use the tumblr batch block browser extension. select “export block list” from your main blog and import that list into your sideblog.
please spread this because a large portion of nsfw blogs are operated as sideblogs here, and blocking is a big part of how we keep each other safe. if you are committed to keeping minors and sex workers safe, we need to make sure this info is well known across the platform so we are encouraging people to block creeps.
