Here at Lorenzo's in West Haven, I tried the margherita pizza. This pizza was delicious, and the crust was the perfect addition. I am not a thin crust fan, and Lorenzo's offered a nice, deep pan crust. There was not an overload on tomatoes, and the basil was just the right amount of flavor. The location we were seated at was amazing, and the fireplace was on to keep us warm. It was an inviting and welcoming feeling, and I will definitely be back. We did not get dessert, however, I will definitely be trying some next visit. The staff were friendly, and outgoing, which made the experience that much better. Overall experience was 9 out of 10. Will be back!

It should be known that there is a vast difference between Mystic Pizza I and Mystic Pizza II. Mystic Pizza II is home to the best chicken bacon ranch pizza I've ever had, along with cheesy garlic bread. This cheesy garlic bread was layerd in four melted cheeses, parmesan, mozzarella, provolone and cheddar. This garlic bread was devoured between my sister and I before our pizza came out, and we were already full. We ordered a large chicken bacon ranch pizza, and we each could only spare one slice in our already full stomachs. This pizza was the greasiest, most tasteful pizza I've ever had. The bacon was perfectly crispy, and the ranch level was perfectly even. Even warming up the pizza for leftovers the next day, was amazing. I will definitely be back to Mystic Pizza II, and will be ordering the exact same thing! Overall rating was 10 out of 10! Perfect score!

Scotch Plains Tavern
Tumblr media
At this location, I was feeling unique to the environment, and decided to order something unusual. I ordered the Tavern Burger, but also ordered a side of mac and cheese, to add onto my burger. This was the best idea I could have had in a long time. The mac and cheese was perfectly cheesy, and slightly crispy which was a nice edition to my perfectly cooked bacon cheeseburger. Though it was quite messy, it was definitely worth it, and I will be returning for another meal. To top this off, the environment was spot on, and welcoming. There was a live band performing songs, and they were inviting, and engaged the crowd in their music. There was also a small game room, which included table shuffleboard and pool. My family went together, and it was a nice way to get everyone laughing. I love the environment here, and will definitely be back. Overall experience 8 out of 10.

River: A Waterfront Restaurant
Tumblr media
I am quite a picky eater, and this menu offered only a handful of things I would actually enjoy. I ordered a cesear salad, and a side order of mashed potatoes. Both of which, were very tasty. I liked my mashed potatoes creamy, and without potato chunks and skins. Fully mashed. River did just this, and my mashed potatoes were delicious. The lettuce in my salad was fresh, and crunchy (as good lettuce should be!). The view, is what made this restaurant that much better. River was peaceful, calm, and serene. Eating with a view outside during a summer night is a celebratory end to a week. I would highly recommend River to anyone, and will be coming back! Overall experience 9.5 out of 10!

Plan B Burger Bar
Tumblr media
At Plan B Burger Bar located in Glastonbury, I tried the Bacon Cheeseburger Deluxe, with bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and secret Plan B sauce. I am particular with my burgers, as I prefer a certain ratio of meat to bread, and toppings. This burger was amazing. The secret sauce was tasteful and appetizing. The bun was a bit flat, and could've been more doughy in my opinion, but each bun did have a signature "Plan B" burned into the bun, which was a unique touch. We also got dessert, a warm cookie with ice cream on top. However, the cookie was rock hard, and cold. The ice cream was also freezer burned, and not a good taste. The burger was savory, but the dessert kind of ruined the meal. Overall, I'd rate this restaurant a 6.5 out of 10. I will be returning for the endless burger choices and combinatins!

Thread City Diner
giant pancakes
Tumblr media
Thread City Diner is located in Willimantic, and they serve the state's largest pancakes. In fact, to say that these pancakes are huge, is quite the understatement. They are roughly 14 inches wide, in the shape of a circle. They are loaded with a topping of your choice; mine is always chocolate chip. These pancakes are massive, ans oh so delicious. They are never burned, nor undercooked. They are light, and fluffy pancakes, and their side of bacon tops off the meal perfectly. A to go box is always requested, as just one pancake is simply too much at once. Aside from their well-known pancakes, their bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches are spot on. Personally, I love bacon. On these breakfast sandwiches, comes many strips of crispy cooked bacon, completing the meal. I would rate Thread City Diner a 9 out of 10. Thread city always has welcoming faces serving you, and promotes an inclusive and warm environment to come enjoy the most important meal of the day!

Chez Ben
ultimate breakfast combo
bacon, sausage, pancakes, potatoes
Tumblr media
Out of every breakfast location I've been to, this one takes the gold. Chez Ben is a combination of American and Canadian cuisine, located in Manchester. Poutine was a popular menu item, however, I am a true American, who loves her potatoes, pancakes, and bacon. I got the Big Ben breakfast, which included two pancakes, sausage, bacon, home fries, and toast. Normally, I would not get a meal this large, but I was feeling good about this one. It is safe to say, every item on my plate was devoured. The pancakes were not overly large, and added just the right amount of chocolate chips to them. Toast is relatively simple to prepare, and nothing special was added to it. My liking of bacon is cooked a little longer, but not burned. This bacon had the perfect amount of crisp, and added a nice texture to my relatively soft meal. The home fries, is what won the meal. Typically, I go for hash browns, as they are lighter and usually more thoroughly cooked. There are a lot of ways home fries can go wrong, and usually are not cooked thoroughly enough for my liking. However, these home fries were perfectly seasoned, and were cooked to perfection, in my opinion. I almost asked for another order of them, to take home! This location was amazing, and I have no negative reviews to offer. I rate this location a 9.5 out of 10.

Three Brothers Diner
Tumblr media
Three Brothers Diner, located in New Haven offered me a pancake I'd never seen before. While it doesn't sound out of the ordinary, I've never been to a breakfast location offering oreo pancakes. So, I took a risk, because who doesn't love oreos, and pancakes?! I fully expected oreo crumbles to come on top, but they were delightfully mixed into the batter, tasting like a fresh fried oreo from the fairgrounds. Unfortunately, the rest of the breakfast was a bit of a let down, as the home fries were chunks of potato that were not cooked, and the bacon was still quite raw. The oreo pancakes allowed me to see past the other breakfast items, as it left a savory sweetness in my mouth, that made me want more after each bite.

Biagetti's
Tumblr media
Biagetti's is known for their fine Italian dining. Being a newcomer to this fancy location, I was quite nervous I wouldn't fit in. The meal started with freshly baked white bread, of which was a perfect, dense texture. The bread was a great allude to the meal, where I ordered the pasta alfredo meal. The fettucine noodles were cooked to perfection, and had a delightful taste. They were not undercooked, or mushy from boiling too long, but rather a perfect hard noodle. The alfredo sauce topped off the perfect noodle. It was just the right consistency, not being too runny, or too thick to mix around with my fork. The spice level could have been a bit stronger, in my opinion, as it tasted relatively cheesy, with little herbs. The broccoli had the perfect crunch, which added a nice texture to the cheesy and soft dish. Overall, I'd rate this restaurant an 8.5 out of 10. The location was great, the interior was neat and welcoming, and the food was delicious.

Pizza Heaven II
Tumblr media
Pizza Heaven II, located in New Haven, Connecticut has had quite a review among other college students. Myself, though, I wanted to see how good it actually was. I ordered a chicken bacon ranch pizza. This is my typical order, so I must say, I know what a good chicken bacon ranch pizza should taste like. There are many ways one can make a good pizza of this version, and many ways one can mess it up. Overall, I'd give this pizza a 6 out of 10. Some of the chicken appeared dried out, and quite chewy. There also was not enough ranch base, to my liking, but the bacon was spot on. I am a firm believer of there always being room for improvement, though, so I am eager to return to Pizza Heaven II!
