Supanova 2025 has wrapped & finished for the year!

Absolutely loved getting to meet some of y’all and getting to chat! It was such a blast, as every year is! I was able to give both Connor & Ven their little guys!!

me me wants to know more of your thoughts about aax and ulysses with i am the one (reprise) from n2n /nf

AH OMG absolutely I would love to yell about them I have so many feelings you don’t understand.

Specifically in my head I really imagine the song following that journey of memory-recovery and acceptance that Aax and Ulysses display throughout season 3. This dichotomy of threatening malice from Aax/Gabe, and this desperate grabbing onto ignorance from Dan/Ulysses.

Because at the end of the day, while Dan acknowledging Gabe brings forth this flood of emotional reconnection with his son, it’s also a complete and total acknowledgment of every way he has failed. Failing to save him, but also failing to properly grieve, and heal, and move on, despite how desperately he tries to pretend he has.

For Aax and Ulysses, while the height of their animosity is obviously right at the beginning of the season, there is the constant lingering threat of Aax harming Ulysses for all he’s done, even if Ulysses doesn’t know what it was he did. Aax haunts Ulysses, literally and figuratively, even before their parent/child dynamic is established because they represent all of Ulysses failings as a Telchin, as a scientist, all his failings as a horrible person. Aax is a constant, livng reminder of all the worst parts of Ulysses.

And while their relationship does improve, and they grow to work together if not like each other, it isn’t until the big final crescendo of their song, that moment where both are hit with a rush of memory and acknowledgement and they learn who the other was, recognizing they have always been there for each other not as enemies but as a family, that they’re finally able to be on the same page. They’re finally able to see each other for who they are.

Especially when the characters do enter a dialogue within the song, Dan actively addressing Gabe haunting him, it matches them so well. Ulysses begging Aax not to forgive them, but to leave them alone. To let Aax leave, and go off with Rae and Caspian and live a life far away from him, as long as he can live in peace. And Aax refusing because as far as they or the audience knows, Ulysses doesn’t deserve that peace.

Not to mention their harmonized lyrics are so entirely matching to Aax and Ulysses too. When they do both finally remember, in the cave. The realization that Ulysses was there for her, all that time. He was the one who held them, who cried with and for them, who watched as they suffered so much and who lost everything in those final moments. And they tried to pretend for so long that that loss didn’t effect them and that they could move on if he just pretended to not care and willingly let that part of their lives go unremebered.

And it’s only when they can acknowledge each other, when they can remember that, that they can learn to move on. Learn to live the rest of their lives without that guilt of losing each other hang over their heads.

And as a final note, just…

“Gabe… Gabriel.” “Hi, dad.” is SO “Perseus… My Perseus?” “Yes-”

I just have… so many thoughts and feelings. I would be lying if I said I didn’t think about Aax and Ulysses more than I should akgsksgs
