Things that I can’t help but think about relating Ulysses to Monster from the new Epic Album:

“Is the cyclops struck with guilt as he kills” is a perfect encapsulation of Ulysses view of Vorago pre-felling. Someone who’s just a force killing for his family without consequence. Likewise the witch “learn[ing] to be colder when she got older” and “when a god comes down and makes a fleet drown” is directly how Ulysses viewed Casus and Lenarius. A goddess who grew cold and callous, and a god who drowned millions for nothing but political respect and power play.

Not to mention the specific cycling back order of people he lost. His best friend (Oenone) his mentor (Askles) and his mom (Samanthea, his first loss in the war) being the reason he’s willing to torment gods and kill (or in Ulysses case experiment on) an infant, just… AHHH I’m having so many feelings-

If I’ve learned anything from reading Marvel Comics it’s that sometimes in order to fix a plot hole you yourself created through rewrites you just gotta… shove an entire alternate dimension’s canon into the main timeline of the story to retcon a minor detail by introducing the characters from that other dimension 😌

Welcome to Connor assigns all his characters a version of the song “Poor Wayfaring Stranger” because I realised it was a funny thing I could do:

Ulysses = Poor Man’s Poison

Like most of PMP’s music it’s got that slightly sinister, really heavy quality to it. But the song itself if still inherently somewhat hopeful and ethereal, and I think it really fits the weight of Ulysses life, and the way he things moving on, and moving home feels.

Daniel Thorns = Johnny Cash

There’s something about Dan that just strikes me as a Johnny Cash vibe. The lone wandering man archetype. The low, almost spoken lyrics accompanied by the guitar, with the very earthy feel, it’s just very Dan.

Leopold = Ashley Johnson & Troy Baker (The Last of Us Part II)

…I don’t know how much I can say or how much I even need to say. The version feels so much more personal and somber, and feels like a contemplation of death far more than the others, and it just… really fits.

Virgil = Andreas Scholl

The strings? The vocalization? The almost operatic and contemplative nature of the piece? Absolutely. It’s such a different departure from the other characters but so is Virgil, in a lot of ways. When I picture these songs I picture them to like, cinematic scenes or AMVs and I can just so clearly picture Virgil playing his violin to this, intercut with shots of him doing things.

OMG A GRENTPEREZ MENTION IN THE FANDOM DO THIS

I’ve had some BoundSMP non-canon ships running through my head so I will present them and my reasonings. I do not 100% ship any of these, I just think they could be good if they were to occur whether they be platonic on romantic :)

1. Ashril & Marcel

I absolutely love these two. Their dynamic with having a past, being awkward and unsure while also being such goofy guys. Really love these two and wouldn’t be opposed to them being together

2. Pietro & Marcel

I think these two speak for themselves but I also love their dynamic. They’re just two guys chillin and I think they could learn a lot from one another in more ways than one

3. Erin & Virgil

Now, this one I can see being platonic OR romantic. I absolutely love the way that they are able to fall into a motion with one another and that, from their first meeting, they were able to have this thing about them that is chefs kiss

4. Sylph and Ashril

I’m iffy on this one but I also think it could be one of those rivalry relationship type beats? I’m not sold on this tho and quite prefer them being friends but this could change??

5. Sylph and Gaverin

I just think it’s funny. They drive each other insane but still have a huge love for the other. This one I’m more leaning towards platonic over romantic but there’s potential

I don’t see Ava having any interest in anyone & Rune and Vast I don’t think could work with anyone else but one another. Those two are just perfect for one another and Ava seems like the type who doesn’t care for romantic relationships— maybe I headcanon her as aromantic, you don’t know that.

Anyways, this has been my thought process after watching lore today. I know that others may not agree with any of these but please, remember this is me just speaking out my ass and not pushing anything. I just think there’s good romantic OR platonic relationships between some of these birds.
