Being the only boy wearing short trousers and knee socks with his uniform, it was no wonder everyone treated me differently. I was kept to a higher standard than everyone else and discipline was also stricter and more traditional.

Unless he grows out of them, there's no reason to get new shorts anyway. And considering his age, it's unlikely he's going to grow much bigger, so short shorts it is.

New to the school, Tim's mum had misread the rules on summer uniform. "Shorts - inside leg to be no longer than two inches - above the knee" was misinterpreted and so when he came to school with trousers reaching at most two inches DOWN his leg, there was hilarity, a bit of teasing, and a lot of attention, particularly from the girls. Tim just had to grin and bear it. And the shorts would have to make do until October, and he knew that in that time they weren't going be getting any longer.."

Either way he is looking great and is a great example for boys how to dress. As for the tattoo... I think perhaps some other markings on the backs of his thighs would help him remember his place.

Then, as his granny aged, James' parents thought it would make her so happy and proud to see the boy dressed so smartly, he had to wear his suit every weekend when sleeping over at his grandparent. The natural next step - to save space in his wardrobe and cut down on washing - was to get rid of his casual clothes. And so, as old as he was, James could be seen wearing a shirt, a tie, short trousers and knee socks wherever he went. Much to James' displeasure. But it made granny and his parents happy, which is what counts.

James' granny loved how he looked in his school uniform, so a short trousered suit was bought for him. As he grew out of it, he was in need of a replacement suit. “Of course, it will have long trousers, being the age I am now”, James thought to himself. He was devastated to find his new suit also had shorts and kneesocks, but not as devastated his granny would have been to see her favourite boy growing up in long trousers. James had no choice, and wore it dutifully. He was then told that it would do for other occasions when smart dress was needed, “for at least a year or two.”
