If your plot feels flat, STUDY it! Your story might be lacking...

Stakes - What would happen if the protagonist failed? Would it really be such a bad thing if it happened?

Thematic relevance - Do the events of the story speak to a greater emotional or moral message? Is the conflict resolved in a way that befits the theme?

Urgency - How much time does the protagonist have to complete their goal? Are there multiple factors complicating the situation?

Drive - What motivates the protagonist? Are they an active player in the story, or are they repeatedly getting pushed around by external forces? Could you swap them out for a different character with no impact on the plot? On the flip side, do the other characters have sensible motivations of their own?

Yield - Is there foreshadowing? Do the protagonist's choices have unforeseen consequences down the road? Do they use knowledge or clues from the beginning, to help them in the end? Do they learn things about the other characters that weren't immediately obvious?

Okay I JUST realized I never posted these on here—- BUT BASICALLY, about a year and a half ago I started doing these experimental black hairstyle posts that were threads long on Twitter, to give artists a source of inspo for their black ocs whose hair they wanted to try something new with! There’s more to black hair than just the selected styles portrayed in media, and I thought it would be fun to show people how much texture, shape, fades, length, and style can be combined when drawing black hair—-cause it’s a kind of manipulation our hair can do irl! The OG posts were lost with the hacking of my original Twitter account (@/bagels_donuts) but I’ve since reuploaded the whole thread to my new Twitter (@/ItsDonutsFR)! I just discovered foodtimeline.org, which is exactly what it sounds like: centuries worth of information about FOOD.  If you are writing something historical and you want a starting point for figuring out what people should be eating, this might be a good place?

So a couple years ago for Christmas I indulged in a year long art journey where I made tea blends on a website called Adagio for my friends characters, and then made the art for the covers of it.

In total I made about 18 blends!

This one is one of @thisgardevoirdraws characters for one of her future projects currently labeled OPGP. I won't reveal her secrets but here is Black Hole: Leora!

This piece took me literal days. Biggest piece I've ever done. The lore here is that the main bad guy (his name is Regulus) used his brother's (Walter) military science ship and research to create a gas that obliviates people. He took his brother's appearance (shape shifter 😋) and framed Walter for his evil deeds.

Giant Squid housing many of her babies in a whole Squid colony. But they drifted through a cloud of alcohol and now they are stuck because Mama drifted into the orbit of a black hole and is too drunk to get back out.

The crew finally reached their destination after a long and arduous journey through some underwater caverns. They found a cave of immense treasures, but those skeletons... watch out!!

This piece is set after the kraken attack where the crew had to abandon ship into their little submarine escape pods and came face to face with a leviathan that had been obliviated.

There was a period of time when running my campaign where I had enough free time to crank out some big art pieces for certain sections of it. This is for the scene where the players got attacked by a kraken made out of Oblivion (a yucky alien substance in my setting)
