I had a dream where I entered a high school classroom to take an English exam. I noticed my graduate student professor was there too, and not to conduct the test but to take it for his graduation (???). I took a seat and next to me was a friend I met in Japan. They started passing around the test, and also gave out menus. They’re apparently allowing us to eat while taking the exam. I ordered a thing of Tonkatsu. They grabbed our menus out for us to take the test. Not even a second in, the friend next to me starts eyeing me saying the answer sheet is too confusing. I noticed the name date subject area were vague on what to write there and said things like “Alias” and just “number”. I told her to just wing it since we’re in the middle of the test. After 5 reading comprehension questions, the staff started bringing our food in. But when it was time to serve me, they gave me a loco moco wrapped inside an egg sheet placed on top of rice. I told them this isn’t what I ordered, and I wanted a Tonkatsu set. The staff said the chef didn’t like making it because “it looks too ugly”. Dumbfounded, I let it slide since I was more focused on my test and just asked for the loco moco. But it got accidentally trashed into a bin by another staff when it was put aside for a bit. I tell them to just remake it and went back to my test.

I was nearing the end and when I looked up for a second, I noticed everyone was gone, and I have been slow on filling my answers. My meal never arrived neither. The hunger pangs caught up to me and I passed out on the spot.

I had a dream where I was visiting my old study abroad university in Japan and was in the cafeteria. Another friend who went with me there was supposedly coming and I waited for her. While I was waiting, I came across my former coworker whom I worked with in a different Japanese city. She was shocked to see me there and did her polite, yet cold reception to me (since we didn’t really get along). We exchanged “how’ve you been” “fine and you” ‘s with each other. I then congratulate her on her marriage and child, then went along my way.

Had another dream where I was road tripping with a friend and his dog apparently snuck in without us noticing somehow. We stopped by a neighborhood to check something on the car. When my friend opened the driver’s side door, the dog ran out. I called out to him, but he didn’t see the dog for some reason. I told him the dog hitched a ride with us and it escaped the car, but he didn’t buy it. While the friend checked on the car, I went out to find the dog. After a while, I found it in another house and found a doggy partner. As I looked at them behind the screen door, I was so moved, I didn’t bother to take it back. Went back to the car, and then me and friend continued with the trip

I had a dream where I was in my back yard sitting and contemplating about life. All of a sudden, a burst of water started coming in and flooding the area. I hurried back in barely making it inside and got slightly soaked as I closed the door. I hurried to the front and noticed the waters are ravaging the neighborhood. The level kept rising and my car was starting to float. In a panic, I went outside and jumped into my car so that I don’t lose sight (stupid idea I know lol). The waters carried me and my car all the way downhill and eventually the water receded. The momentum still kept up and I eventually crashed into someone’s house while they were doing a garage sale. No one was hurt but boy were they pissed. After explaining the sitch and giving my contact info for insurance, I walked back uphill to my house and there were a lot of people out taking pictures of the aftermath

Had another dream where I was working in a Japanese company but I’m disabled for some reason and travel by electric scooter. The scooter also kept drawing in a lot of attention. One day after work, I decided to go for a stroll in Yoyogi park. In the lobby, as I am about to exit, a camera man kept following me and snapped a few pictures of me riding my scooter. Said he wanted to post it in his documentary for Netflix. On the way to the park, I got hungry and decided to look for something to eat so I start looking for a 711. I eventually found one but a sign and set of stairs caught my attention. It was a Japanese pancake cafe. So I got off and got my cane to go up and entered. I see a friend who I met at study abroad in a maid outfit greeting me and in the back table, another friend who I met at a local language exchange group. As I was going to the back table and sitting down, I woke up.

Had a dream where I was in an airplane with my dad reading about some conspiracy theory involving a hidden doomsday button in Bikini atoll. We were on the way to the Philippines and dad also has acquaintances in the flight. After a while, we landed at our layover in Taoyuan airport and found out our connecting flight is going to be delayed so we decided to go to Taipei proper and have a walk. I spent most of the time translating and recommending things for dad and his friends.

For all of the northerners that stood up for Texas during our freeze and said, "Don't make fun of them, they've never dealt with this before. Their infrastructure isn't made for snow and freezing."

This one is for you.

Where I live 108°F with 80% humidity with no wind is normal.

Pacific North West is dealing historic best waves 35-40°C or 95-105°F.

First of all. Don't make fun of them for bitching about the heat. Just like Texas isn't built for a freeze and our pipes burst, Pacific North West isn't built for heat and a lot of their homes don't have AC.

If you live somewhere with a high humidity like 80+ HUMIDITY IS NOT YOUR FRIEND. The "humidity makes it feel cooler" is a lie once it gets beyond a point.

If you live somewhere with a lower humidity, misters are nice to cool off outside.

Once you get over 90°F (32°C) a fan will not help you. It's just pushing around hot air. (I mean if you can't afford a small AC unit because they're expensive as hell, by all means a fan is better than nothing).

Window AC units will let mosquitoes or other small bugs in. Sucks, but that's life.

Now is not the time to me modest. If you have to cover for religious reasons, by all means. If you don't, I've seen people wear short shorts and a swim top. It's not trashy if it keeps you from getting heat stroke.

If you do have to cover up for religious reasons, look for elephant pants or something similar. They're made with a breathable material.

Shade is better than no shade, but that shit it just diet sun after some point. Don't think shade will save you from heat stroke.

I know the "drink your water" is a fun meme now, but if you're sweating excessively you need electrolytes. Drink Gatorade, Powerade, or Pedialite PLEASE. I don't care if you're fucking sitting in one spot all day. That shit WILL save you from heat stroke.

Most importantly. RESEARCH THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HEAT STROKE AND HEAT EXHAUSTION PLEASE!

If you're diabetic and can't drink Gatorade, mix water, fruit juice, and either lite salt or pink salt

If you can afford it, cover windows with thick curtains to insulate the house

If you have tile floors, lay on them with skin to tile contact. If you don't, laying your head on cool counters works too.

If the temperature where you're at is hotter than your body temperature, don't wear heat wicking clothing. Moisture wicking is safe though.

Check your medication labels. Many make you more susceptible to sun and heat

-Room temperature water will get into your body faster. This is something I learned doing marching band in high summer in Georgia, and it saved all of our asses. Sip it, don't gulp it, especially if you're getting into the red; same goes for whatever fluid you're drinking. And just in general drink during the day.

-If you are moving from an air conditioned space to an un-air conditioned space, if at all possible try to make the shift gradual. When my dad and I were working outside and in un-ac houses a few years ago, he'd turn the air down to low in the truck about ten-fifteen minutes before we got where we were going. This way your body doesn't go from low low temps to high temps. S'bad for you.

-If you can, keep your lights off during the day. Light bulbs may not generate a lot of heat, but the difference is noticeable when it gets hot enough. I literally only turn my bedroom light on in the evening when it gets too dark.

Don't be afraid to just like... pour water on yourself if you need to. The evaporation will cool you off.

Put your hand to the cement for 15 seconds. If you can't handle the heat, it'll burn your dog's paws. Don't let them walk on it.

Dogs with flat faces are more prone to heat stroke. Don't leave them out unsupervised.

Frozen fruit is delicious in water.

Wet/Cold hat/handkerchief on your head/neck will help you stay cool.

Pickle juice is great for electrolytes! You can even make pickle juice Popsicles!

Heat exhaustion is more, "drink water and get you cooled off." Heat stroke is more "Oh my god call 911."

Had a dream where I went to Nintendo of America for an interview. The manager of the translation department was so nice and passionate, she gave me so many freebies, including amiibo I never saw before (and unfortunately couldn’t take out of my dreams 🥹)

Had a dream where I was driving on my way to a luncheon my mom invited me to. After pulling up to a rather fancy residence, I for some reason was not satisfied with just parking on the side of the street for some reason. I somehow had hulk strength and dragged my car into the residence Breath of the Wild style navigating through the gardens and terrain until I found a place to “park”. I even got my car through a building, ended up in a dead end, then went back into the building to take out my car again at one point. My car ended up really dented with two flat tires. The engine was still fine though. Dad happened to be there and saw my car, then gave me the scolding of a lifetime. I then dreaded the thought of having to work 5 paychecks to fix the car despite already spending so much to have it maintained throughout the years. My half brother then handed me a flyer for a cheap mechanic. It was written in Chinese and the email section had a friend’s discord handle on it

Had a dream where I was in a tent waiting for an Eisa dance (traditional Okinawa’s dance) performance to start. There was about 13 minutes until the event started so I went out the tent for a bit and tried to find a vending machine. I walked past the rehearsals and wandered a bit. After getting my drink, I tried going back only to see the path back to the tent was blocked by a whole group of dancers. I was right in the middle of the performance and realized there are a lot of hidden cameras pointing at me and the performers’ direction so I laid down on my stomach and took cover as if I was about to be struck by lightning. Not too long after, a suited up Desi man approached me and asked what I was doing here. After explaining my sitch, he led me out to a safe place near the tent. We chatted for a bit and he eventually told me he works for NHK and wanted to interview me sometime. I said sure and then gave him a business card. After parting ways I went back to the tent.

Along the way, a homeless man and traffic control were arguing over terf, and the homeless dude’s panhandling robbing them of potential entry fees
