Jax thought for a moment, wondering how much he should tell this creature. Who knows what it’s even capable of? I should be wary.
“Perhaps I fell into a magical puddle as a kit?
I am as what you perceive me to be, just a simple talking cat. No more no less.”
There’s a sense of foreboding that perhaps this sentient being is lying but Kyuubey remains still, emotionless as always. There’s always some truth beneath a veil--

“ I see. That’s very interesting. But my apologies for the informalities. My name is Kyuubey! Might I know your name? ”

“A chemical reaction in the brain, huh…” It’s funny, that’s almost like something Mia would say. Elk smiles to himself, though his heart feels heavy at the same time. He lets the rice steam, only tapping at the stove’s temperature dial so the arrow lines up perfectly with the dot.
He glances over at Kyuubey, unsure how to describe where it is he comes from to someone who might not even know what a computer is–Kyuubey seems to be really smart, though, so it might be worth venturing a proper explanation, as complicated as it might be.

“Um, I’m from a place called The World…Do you know what virtual reality is? It’s like…” Elk unconsciously touches the back of his neck, “…Mm, I think the best way to describe it would be that it’s inside a computer…and I wear these clothes because I’m a wavemaster! I can do magic and stuff, heheh.”
Kyuubey listens intently, though not without raising a few questions in his head. Elk continues to pique the incubator’s interest, though not for anything more than the goal that is to be achieved. Take it slow.

“ Oh I’m very aware of virtual reality! It’s a continuing advancement that seems to amaze humans everyday. We have the same sort of technology, if not more advanced. But there’s not enough information for me to give that can confirm such statements.
“ But I’m very interested in hearing about your magic as well. What kind of magic can you perform? Are you very skilled in the arts of magic that you can do? Have you ever used it against another sentient being? ”

“ Pardon me if that seemed rude. But I’ve never been quite able to meet a more sentient, Felis Domesticus.

That is what you are, yes? ”

Elk listens with polite silence, nodding along to show that he understands–kind of. It’s a bit beyond him, actually; but it’s not his place to challenge another being’s background, especially given his own unconventional origins. Even Mia lacks organic make-up, but Elk loves her just the same. “I see… That’s okay, I’m not bothered by it at all! We’re kind of like aliens to you, then, aren’t we? I’ll help you with the stuff that you don’t understand, eheh.”
He rinses off the rice several times more than necessary before dumping it in the pot and covering it.

“It was a bit of an adjustment for me to be moved out here, anyway, and I’m not even from a different place in the universe. Moving stresses everyone out…”
The incubator’s ears flick slightly, watching the steam rise from the evaporation of the rice. Kyuubey’s not sure if this is really the correct way of making rice, considering there’s never been a chance where Kyuubey could make his own source of food. Not that he actually needs sustenance--
“ I suppose it could be stressful, yes. Humans have the habit of being uncomfortable in new surroundings, but it will settle over time. It’s only a chemical reaction in the brain after all. ”
Kyuubey’s beady pink eyes follow over to Elk’s face, blinking slowly before tilting his head, “ Where exactly do you come from, Elk? I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen another human wearing the garments you adorn yourself with. ”

Since the incubator’s return to this little speck of an island, there have been some decisions that were to be made before he should construct anymore need for contracts. One, standing as to take things slower, instead of throwing contracts away left and right. Two, was to observe the islanders to decide who would be a better Puella Magi. And three--
Get rid of those who know.
The figure known as ‘Auntie’, had been brought to his attention first, causing an upset when she attempted to cancel his prior contracts. True, most of his contracts were just a waste in the past, he was learning rather quickly not to trust all the idiots here.
But the incubator will be taking a different approach, when coming face to face with the one who somehow knows about Kyuubey’s real intentions. Covering with a facade of a human face, instead of his weaker cat-like form, was the first step in his plot.
“ You must be Auntie, yes? We’ve only had brief moments to meet before, but I think this is the first time I’ve been able to converse with you alone. ”

“Okay…I can do that! Rice is easy.” On cue, Elk moves through the kitchen and begins gathering everything for dinner as Kyuubey doesher it’s his? exploring around the apartment.
“I don’t mind at all. I’m… kind of used to being alone now, heh.” He smiles sadly into the shallow void of the cooking pot he is now holding, before filling it with water and setting it on the stove.

“You don’t mind if I ask where you’re from, do you, Kyuubey?” Elk quickly redirects the conversation before he can start dwelling on his own misfortune.
The incubator isn’t all too impressed with these living conditions but it’s better than being outside, where certain people could possibly harm him. Humans sometimes were grateful for the roof over their head; Kyuubey’s grateful that he isn’t sharing a complex with someone who wants to put a bullet hole through his head.
Turning to hop up on the kitchen counter, Kyuubey sits close by to watch as Elk worked over the stove. “ Usually, humans wouldn’t like to know where I come from, due to becoming irrate over their beliefs of the supernatural. But I suppose you seem to have a phlegmatic disposition to understand-- simply, I come from the universe. An alien, as humans call it. ”

Kyuubey’s tail flourishes from side to side, looking up to the face of his possibly startled roommate, “ But don’t worry about any premonitions you may have about extraterrestrial lifeforms. I have no bad intentions here. ”

“Wh–”
It takes Elk a moment to realize that the little voice echoing inside his head is actually coming from the creature, but that doesn’t faze him at all. Cute, talking animals are kind of Elk’s thing, and he is already infatuated with the cuteness of his new roommate.

“…Kyuubey? It’s nice to meet you.” Elk smiles, scarcely able to keep himself contained that he might have someone around that doesn’t want to destroy him. “That’s okay. Make yourself at home, then! I’m going to make dinner soon if you’ll be here. Do you like fish?”
Kyuubey is not unused to kindness shared with him, nor giving kindness in return. Not that he can feel what kindness is, but it’s something that easily wins the hearts of mortals. The incubator is just relieved that no one is here to upset his rolling plans in motion.

“ Yes! I do favor fish! Even with rice, if that would be appropriate to request! ” The incubator offers a cat-like smile, before walking further into the complex. His tiny feet weave along like a snake, a white tail flourished behind him.
“ I do hope you don’t mind my presence or absences during the time we may be living here together. I’m what some call... elusive. ”

The incubator’s return was completely unexpected but after a long journey through alternate dimensions, it’s not so bad to come back and seek out new contractees. And this time, Kyuubey’s decided to take things slow and steady, potentially pleasing the desires of potential meguca’s rather than forcing and answering a million questions all at once.
New islanders had shuffled around it seemed and he’s now placed into another single apartment with... some child who smells like grass. Pink beady eyes stare up at the boy, before the incubator tilts his head.

“ That’s so kind of you! I appreciate it, Elk! ” His cheery little voice rings telepathically into the boy’s head. “ My name is Kyuubey! And you probably won’t see me all too much! ”
Elk wasn’t expecting a roommate–especially not a weird little bunny squirrel cat cute animal thing. It must be a stray.

“Um, hey, little guy… my name is Elk. I won’t be loud and you’re welcome to sleep on my bed if you get lonely.”
