the struggle of teen drama shows thinking what we really wanted..... was the adult business/political drama
like istg
it's so frustrating being a sandy/kirsten fan on the oc because they're great characters with such a cute dynamic and i really wish their plots focused more on things like parenting ryan and seth (equally, not just from sandy) and being the 'odd couple' that goes against snobby newport society. like exploring daughter-of-millionaire kirsten cohen, the only newpsie wife who didn't marry for money and is considered the 'breadwinner' and the reversed 'gender' roles and societal expectations that this brings. or being the centre of neighbourhood gossip as the couple that adopted a teenager from jail and how much they'd need to stand up for themselves and ryan in so many ways.
instead we get plots like............ honey i nearly cheated on you for the 5th time this year 💀
