Constantly thinking about how some old episodes of Spongebob are so vividly remembered by the masses because of how strongly they would resonate. Like it was so fucking good at capturing extremely specific emotions.

The episode where Spongebob attempts to write his essay. You feel what he’s feelings so deep in your gut that it’s like you’re procrastinating alongside him. He’s anxious. You’re anxious. Oh god the clock that kept telling you and Spongebob what time it was…

The one where he’s stranded in rock bottom? It’s such a silly exaggeration of a creepy place but like. You’ve been there. You’ve been in a weird area at night that gives off the vibe that your surroundings hate you on a personal level. You feel the isolation he’s feeling, you’re as stressed out as he is. He’s not safe. You’re not safe. And then a huge relief that washes over you when he gets out of that situation because you are also out of that situation.

I have never seen a “lost pet” episode of a cartoon that captures the hopeless grief so well as the episode where Gary runs away and Spongebob is absolutely devastated. I remember being a kid and my dog got lost and scenes from that episode kept playing in my head because it was exactly how it felt.

Does anybody know what I’m trying to say here it’s very hard to articulate
