North America uses 80% of the world’s total narcotics or opioids. Does this means they treat pain more than half of the planet, or does it mean they are sicker or has the prescribing of this pain pills has been made so loose and easy? This is causing a problem to both the individuals and the society as a whole. In the next chapter, we are going to be looking at more critical issues like the advantages of prescribing painkillers and the disadvantages of doing so. We will also explain the role of opioids in pain reduction.

Opioids are a group of medications that are used for pain management. They are derived from opium which comes from a plant called poppy plant. We know that opioids does not damage the kidney, the liver and the heart. Many organization specialized in health like has recommended that opioids should be used in the treatment of pain. In the late 80’s and 90’s, many medical practitioners felt pressured by news papers report of a narcotic pain treatment, so that pushed the patients to join and demand for a better pain relieve. This therefore made opioids to be prescribed in very increasing rate and causing a much better pain relieve but a high physical side effect.  This lead to the creation of many painkillers such as morphine, and some other strong once such as oxycodone, hydrocodone, and fentanyl, codeine.

Since as the human system is very different one from the other, people all knew that if one type of opioids does not cure his pain, the other type will do. This lead to a lot of people buying painkillers online since they were different opioids maid for different durations. Some could be taking time to act after being taken meanwhile others act immediately after you consume them. Although we knew that opioids could be good in treating pain, it also had some side effects like causing nausea, constipation and itches and is also very addictive, it has also lead to a lot of people doing overdose. But it’s also asking them to keep consistent and convincing records of why they prescribed the opioids or painkillers and if the result they planned to achieve with the prescription was achieved. This law reduced the number of deaths caused by opioids drastically. After doing that particular analysis, I personally share the point of view of those who says opioids should be prescribed to patients as it helps them to manage their pain. All what I can discourage is the over consumption of opioids since overdosing the meds will have serious adverse effects on the user.
