Ice Cream Month was established by the American Dairy association in conjunction with President Ronald Reagan and Walter Dee Huddleston, a Senator from Kentucky. Ice Cream was first said to be created in Ancient Greece, before the idea of a refrigerator ever came to pass. The first true Ice Cream was said to be introduced by Catherine de 19 Medici in the 16th century. The first recorded recipes didn 19t exist until the 18th century.

Truly Ice Cream was a treat meant for the most notable of humans, and now we can all enjoy it any day of the year! Ice Cream Month encourages us to be particularly indulgent during the month of July!

SmithKline Beecham develops LYMERix, the first and only licensed vaccine against Lyme disease. Celebration World Autism Day April 2, 2021

World Autism Awareness Day was established on December 18, 2007 by the United Nations. The General Assembly put together resolution 62/139, which consisted of four major elements. The participation of all UN organization and its member states, a dedication to raising awareness of Autism in the general community, and a standing request to the UN Secretary-General to move forth this message to all it the UN member states.

Autism affects approximately 1 out of every 150 children around the world. It is a neural development disorder that affects their ability to socialize normally by impacting their abilities to utilize verbal and non-verbal communication. Since 2012, there has been a 30% increase in the amount of children being affected with autism, and World Autism Awareness Day helps to bring awareness to this growing health concern.

Autism first appears very early on, sometimes manifesting as early as infancy, in other times waiting until later in childhood. The disease progresses steadily without remission, its first symptoms generally appearing around six-months, and being firmly in place by age two or three. Rather than having one distinguishing characteristic, Autism is indicated by the coming together of three separate symptoms. The triad includes difficulty socializing, problems in communication, and a limited number of interests combined with repetitive behavior such as can-stacking.

Autism is no longer classified as a single disorder, but rather an entire spectrum ranging in severity. Autism is the core of all of these syndromes, with its features being prevalent to varying degrees throughout, and includes such disorders such as Rett Syndrome and Childhood disintegrative disorder. One of the most commonly known disorders on the list, outside of Autism itself, is Asperger 19s. Asperger Syndrome is signified by the presence of Autism symptoms with no impairment of language development.

Asperger Syndrome often leads to problems with social interaction with their peers. Common body language queues that are picked up on by those not on the Autistic Spectrum are often lost on those who suffer from AS. It is not uncommon among the Asperger community to hear them speak of their frustrations with non-Asperger people, as huge chunks of the conversation just seem utterly lost on them. Things such as tone, context, and sarcasm have to be considered very carefully, as they are not often native to those with AS, and their frustration with communication often stems from this and other social queues.

However, much like anyone on the Autistic spectrum, they will present with areas of intelligence that are much stronger than that of others. These areas tend to be in the reading, language, music, or spatial skills, occasionally manifesting to such a degree that they may fall into the 1Cgifted 1D range in those areas. This seems to be counterbalanced by significant delays in other areas of development.

On WAAD, you can help raise awareness by hosting an event with local families with Autistic family members, bringing them all together to be among others sharing their difficulties, challenges, and joys. You could contact local businesses and encourage them to light up their building blue to signal their support for those suffering from Autism, or you could even light up your own home. Spend WAAD reading about Autism and discussing it with others, and perhaps trying to gain a little understanding about this special group of people and the syndrome they live with.

We 19re all full of stories, each of us with our own tales to tell, but we never quite seem to find the time to make it happen, do we? There 19s always too much to do today, the feeling isn 19t right, the story just isn 19t there, or we just don 19t feel good enough.

Thoughts like these are why some of the most influential books in history never got written, and procrastination is the great killer of artistic expression. National Novel Writing Month, known as NaNoWriMo by its adherents is your opportunity to bring out your inner tales!

History of Novel Writing Month

Novel Writing Month brings your excuses to a halt by encouraging everyone to take this one month of the year to try their hand at the grand art of storytelling. 50,000 words in one month is the goal, a number that seems quite daunting until you realize that over a span of 30 days it 19s just 1700 words a day. To put that into perspective, that 19s about three times the length of this article!

Established in 1999, NaNoWriMo was July back then, and the heart of it was the magical city of San Francisco. That year there were only 21 people involved, and they were at the heart of a revolution, though perhaps not the heart of the one they imagined. Fifteen years later thousands of people all over the world are participating in this amazing event, resulting in volumes of creative expression unlike the world has ever seen.

How to celebrate National Novel Writing Month

NaNoWriMo has a thriving and supportive community of people who love getting together, physically and digitally, to support each other and offer encouragement and inspiration to drive the creative endeavor. At homes, restaurants, coffee shops, libraries, and schools all over the world, NaNoWriMo takes all these places by storm. You can pop into nanintoo.org and find yourself a local 1Cwrite-in 1D near you to help you get your write on!

Obviously, whether you join these folks or not, the whole point of NaNoWriMo is writing. So dig an idea out of your head and start writing, and hold yourself to 1700 words a day throughout the entire month of November. Don 19t worry about editing, rewriting, or any of the little fiddly things one does when finishing a novel, that all can wait until after you 19re done. The goal now is to get 50,000 words down on the page by the end of the month!

Don 19t let November go by without taking your greatest novel idea and turning it into a reality!
