Review: Just My Type
Just My Type by Falon Ballard
Genre: Rom
Rating: 3/5 🐐
Just My Type at its core is your standard rom com. I wouldn't say it's entirely impressive, but it does have When Harry Met Sally references—and is there anything better than that?
I'm a big lover of second-chance romances, and this book truly is the epitome of that. There are cute characters and a fairly present plot, lending itself to a fairly paced, quick read. I think this book is truly perfect for when you just want a good rom com to read. While it doesn't exactly move its audience, it is good entertainment.

Is there anything better than iced coffee and a bookstore on a sunny day? I mean, aside from hot coffee and a bookstore on a rainy day.

Review: Every Summer After
Every Summer After by Carley Fortune
Genre: Rom
Rating: 1.5/5 🐐
This book. I have so many thoughts. This book roped me in from the beautiful cover and the Emily Henry callout, and it kept me hooked from the early Beach Read vibes, cheeky dialogue, and more—I was literally in love with book, giggling and all. Then, we hit (*spoiler*) the cheating trope, and I wanted to throw my phone out the window.
I have so many thoughts, and I'm not even certain this is going to be a successful review or just my thoughts, but alas.
She chose the wrong brother. Maybe my type is funny brunettes, but my GOD, Charlie was there and she didn't go for him (until she did for a second). Flirty, funny, and constantly upset at his brother for not fighting more for Persephone? I'm waiting for someone better.
Cheating. WHY do some authors feel the need to make characters cheat and then get BACK together. There's nothing worse. Also, she didn't just cheat; she cheated with his brother, which is a special kind of shitty in my opinion. (Even if you pick the wrong brother, I'm not convinced you can just flip flop.)
Returning and breaking down old shit at the mom's funeral??? In what world is that a good idea?
I wanted to love this book so bad—I did love this book, and then I was disappointed.

Review: The Summer of Broken Rules
The Summer of Broken Rules by K. L. Walther
Genre: YA
Rating: 4/5 🐐
AHHHH. Okay. This book is SOOO cute. It's a precious little YA novel that just grabs your heart (is there anything better than young love?). With a quick-witted (*wink wink*) cast, there's so much laughter to be had while reading this book. It's cute, it's fun (with the exception of the dead sister, but characters have trauma bond), it's everything.
If you're holding onto summer (why would you?), this book is truly perfect. It is the epitome of a fun summer book. The only downside—timelines, but that is also such a convention of this genre that I shouldn't be shocked.
Read this adorable book and I guarantee (well not guarantee, but like STRONGLY believe) that your day will be better!

Review: As Good As Dead
As Good As Dead by Holly Jackson
Genre: YA
Rating: 3.8/5 🐐
When I say this book kept me up, I mean it. As someone who doesn't read a lot of crime fiction, I hit 41% of the way through the book and realized the only way out is through.
Holly Jackson does an incredible job wrapping up her series A Good Girl's Guide to Murder in this breath-catching novel. Her narration of anxiety and PTSD really sold me on this book (and was honestly one of my only overwhelming likes of the book). The characters really shined—and honestly, this book was the thread that tied the first two together.
Now, with it's many pros, I do think the pacing of this novel was just a bit off. At times, it very much gave third book vibes, which could be good if that's your vibe, but I wasn't really digging it at the time. Story=great; Pacing=off?
If you're looking for a captivating story with murder, serial killers, and young love, you're in the right place.

Review: Good Girl, Bad Blood
Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson
Genre: YA
Rating: 4/5 🐐
Can I just say I love this series? This series has me captivated—truly. While I think the beginning of this book was (just a tad) slow, the ending made up for it tenfold. That ending. Our protagonist, Pip, truly has been strung through the ringer (and from what I've seen from the next novel, it only continues). I lived for the different formatting at the end to convey all that was going on (look at me being spoiler free). Anyway...read this. It's seriously so good. Now, I'm going to go read the next one.

Review: In a New York Minute
In a New York Minute by Kate Spencer
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Rating: 2/5 🐐
This book was cute...ish? In its entirety, this book is probably super cute, but I'm not convinced it's worth a buy. The plot and characters are lacking, making it an okay read. I'm a frequent romance reader (and quite a lover of the genre), but this one just doesn't hit the mark for me. I wasn't miserable while reading, but I wasn't entirely hooked in any capacity.
If you want a romance palate cleanser or something casually cute, this functions quite nicely.

Review: Never Vacation with Your Ex
Never Vacation with Your Ex by Emily Wibberley & Austin Siegemund-Broka
Genre: YA
Rating: 3/5 🐐
What a cute read! As I continuously get older, it gets increasingly wild to recall what it felt like to be a teenager, and does this book nail it? Kaylee Jordan, is a high-school volleyball player living under her mother's shadow. This pressure (along with the pressure of being a high schooler because woah is that intense) gets in the way of Jordan's success and her relationships.
As a forever lover of second chance romances, this was sooooo fun to participate in. I give this novel a 3/5 because it's fun, flirty, and genuine, but there are moments where the story gets stuck and almost repetitive. There are also a few characters are flat relative to the generally flat cast. While there are some faults (as with anything), this story was too cute and such a fun little read.
