Fleece Froggy Friend Pattern + Instructions

Hello tumblr! Today I checked logged back on and I can’t believe that five HUNDRED people encountered my fleece froggy and enjoyed it! :D I put together a pattern so you can make your own friend like mine!

They’re not hard to make, and all of the materials can be found at Walmart or your local craft store if they aren’t things you already have around the house. I encourage anyone with a little extra time on their hands to give it a try! If you have any questions or if the instructions aren’t clear, please send me a message!

**Just as a foreword: your froggy might be slightly different than mine in the pictures, as I tweaked the pattern just a bit after taking the photos.

You will need:

Scraps of green fleece or felt

Scraps of pink fleece or felt

White or green thread

Sewing needle

Short length of black or brown embroidery thread

Embroidery needle

Handful of stuffing or beans

Pen or chalk

Sharp scissors

Pencil or dowel

Instructions:

1. Print off pattern and cut it out.

2. Trace the patterns onto your fabric and cut them out. Leave enough room around each piece to cut about an ⅛ inch seam allowance. Don’t forget to flip the “back” piece before tracing it a second time! Where there are v’s in the pattern, just cut a slit all the way to the point.

3. Stitch the two body pieces together, starting from the top of one arm to the top of the opposite arm. Before sewing, tie the end of your string in a big ole knot (3 or 4 knots on top of each other) so that it doesn’t pull through the fabric, and make your stitches very small so that they don’t pull while stuffing later.

4. Sew the darts in the top of the body pieces, cheeks, and front of the face to give them some dimension! I whip stitched towards the end of each slit.

5. Carefully turn the body inside out. You can use the end of a pencil to help. Set aside the body for now.

6. Sew together the curved edges of the two “back” pieces.

7. Sew the tops of the back and face pieces together. Take care to sew correctly around the eye bumps.

8. Sew the cheeks onto the face. The cheek darts should be opposite of the top seam as pictured.

9. Close the bottom of the cheek and then turn their head inside out.

10. Use embroidery thread to sew whatever face you want! On mine I used french knots for eyes and backstitch for the mouth. Feel free to add eyelashes, beads, a nose, or whatever else you can think of!\

11. Sew the back of the head to the back of the body. The dart should line up with the seam on the back of the head. Then, Stuff them! You can use a pencil to help move the stuffing around. I cut out a little heart to put inside (to store the love).

11. Use a ladder stitch to close the hole.

12. Accessorize! And repeat as many times as you want to. :)

Beautiful! now you have a wonderful little friend :). Give them a name! You can keep them for yourself or give to a friend. Please send me a picture! I’d love to see what you made :).
