okay i wanna talk about people undermining cardan’s decision to exile jude. i cannot stress this enough, he didn’t exile her for the sole reason of impressing her, that was just a bonus. it wasn’t a haha i got you moment. it’s funny i get it, but the jokes blow it way out of proportion.
if you actually read the books you’d understand he mainly did it to pacify queen orlagh because she was literally demanding jude be given to her so she can imprison her again in the undersea for killing balekin. this way, jude will be safe while they were finalizing the treaty. in no way would orlagh go along with anything as long as jude was still hale and in elfhame without punishment.
he knew she’d be angry, but he had full confidence she would understand the riddle (which was why he was so confused when jude was trying to bargain for her exile to end) and come back, but she didn’t. instead she thought “pardoned by the crown” was only a mistake in his wording and that if she were to come back, he’d only exile her again or have her killed or imprisoned. up to halfway in TQON jude still didn’t see what cardan felt for her. she still thought it was only a big game to him—that everything he did was a ploy. but it wasn’t.
cardan in TWK didn’t even think he could hurt jude, he had no idea she loved him back, and you can hardly blame him, the walls jude built around herself are sky high. plus he’s terrified of her lol. again, cardan didn’t exile her to hurt her or prank her. it wasn’t an elaborate ploy to impress her,” that was just a bonus. the main reason was to keep jude safe from orlagh while they were finalizing the treaty.

"live every day like it's your last": scary. weirdly foreboding. not a good thought process if you get anxious easily. stressful. so much pressure that it loops back around to making you do nothing. "live every day like it's your FIRST": everything becomes fascinating. renews the excitement of discovering things for the first time again. makes you feel like exploring stuff. #mywisdom

Locke being obsessed with wanting to be the main character in his stories and ending up being murdered off screen would never not be funny to me 🤣. I just know how much he would hate that his murder wasn't even important enough to make it to the books!

Dropping the latest Sketch-a-Wish, voted on by my lovely Patreon members for April! A scene from The Wicked King by Holly Black, Cardan and Jude pledging their troth.
This scene was nondescript on the type of flowers that were blooming in the king's chambers as they were professing their vows to each other. But given how they were both adamant that their marriage would be utilitarian and short lived, I feel like the room blooming over head was a sign that it was more permanent than they realized, hence the wisteria and its meaning. 🤭

Hi, I noticed your story has conflict in it, and I was wondering why you didn't just write people who are right doing everything correctly with a note saying "I enthusiastically co-sign everything in this story"? Must be some kind of mistake haha

today I used the phrase "breasting boobily" in casual real life conversation and everyone was shocked asking how I came up with that and I had to explain it. ive been at the devil's sacrament so long that I forgot he wasn't god

Jude: I don’t need therapy. I just need to stab something.
Cardan: Wait, no. That's not—
Madoc: [nodding proudly] Finally, a healthy coping mechanism.
