Cora does not love studying buuuut she does love getting good grades so same difference. I needed motivation so I thought, no better way to motivate myself to to try motivating other people. This blog will have a lot(hopefully) of original content but I will also be reblogging stuff that I also found helpful. Please enjoy! I also have a main/fandom blog account, @coraloveslife, and I have a miraculous ladybug fan account on instagram called @coralovesmiraculous. (yes there is a theme lol)

Saturday morning, on the 26th of October, a Nazi walked into a Pittsburgh synagogue, shouting “All Jews must die!” and opened fire. He killed eleven Jewish people, including grandparents, husbands, wives, and a doctor remembered for his compassionate care of his patients during the AIDs crisis. Several of them were there celebrating a baby-welcoming ceremony for a gay couple’s newly adopted twins.
This was the deadliest antisemitic attack in all 364 years of American Jewish history. Jews all over the world are shaken, upset, and scared. We know that this could have been any of us, but beyond that, this attack struck at the heart of our people. We were attacked in a place of safety and sanctity. We were reminded that as Jews, we are not safe in America. And we lost eleven Jewish souls.
Some of us are grieving, some of us are angry, some of us are devastated, some of us are numb, some of us are crying, some of us are terrified, some of us are anxious, and some of us can barely walk up the stairs because this doesn’t make any sense and yet it makes so much sense because we all, on some level, imagined this was coming. Our history has taught us that our safety is never guaranteed, and over the past two years we have watched the sickening rise of Nazism and antisemitism all over the world, including in America, where, despite our history, many of us had been lulled into believing it could never happen here.
We lost a third of the world’s Jewish population within living memory. So many Jewish families, in every country, fled antisemitic violence within the past few generations. The tragedy we just experienced is visceral, it’s terrifying, it’s devastating.
So please, check in on your Jewish friends and ask how they are doing. Please, take a moment to understand and absorb this tragedy. Please, understand how this is not just yet another mass shooting (that while theoretically tragic, you don’t really have the space for another one, what with compassion fatigue), but rather an attack that pierced the heart of a group of people already carrying centuries of pain and trauma. Please, make space for this one. Please, when you talk about this, don’t use generalized language about hate and about how no one should be killed for their religion. Please speak the words: Jewish. Antisemitic. Say this was an antisemitic attack, on Jewish people. And please, keep us in your thoughts today.

Some ideas for productive breaks and smart multitasking
You shouldn’t feel pressured to work all the time. By all mean take breaks, and do whatever you want during your breaks. Those are just some activities that I enjoy doing when I’m not working on my uni work. I thought that I would share them with you because they have worked wonders for me. Just pick what you like and try it out!
Watch TV shows and movies in their original language. It still feels like a break: you can get all curled up in bed and get some snacks, but you’re still practicing a foreign language. It can be anything you want, even Youtube videos or reality shows. For English learners, ororo.tv is the best website ever.
Find an online class (mooc) about a subject that interests you. It can be anything, whether it’s school related or not. It will come so handy. For instance, if you’re passionate about photography, complete an online course about it. First of all, it should be a lot of fun. But also, one day, during an interview, someone is going to ask you what your personal interests are. “I like photography like thousands of people out there” is a bit less im-pressive than “I like photography. I even completed an online class from a foreign university this year during my free time. Indeed, I love to set myself challenges”. Coursera is my personal favourite.
Sit with your friends, grab coffee, and talk about subjects that you are passionate about. Ask your friends to tell you more about that subject that they love and know a lot about, ask them questions, examples and so on. Truth is, we tend to feel annoying when talking for hours about something that we love, but we’re not. I guarantee that you’re going to discover so much about your friends’ interests and that you’ll love it. And you’re actually learning a lot at the same time. My boyfriend is really interested in new technologies, and I always ask him to tell me the latest news about it. Well last time it allowed me to take part in a conversation at work about something that he told me about, and people were actually surprised that I knew so much about it.
Download podcasts and audio books for your trips. I know I can never be bothered to read a book in the subway and I always end up on my phone so I might as well listen to something interesting.
Do more things that don’t involve a screen : go out for a walk and discover a new neighbourhood, draw and improve your skills, cook and learn a new recipe, grab a newspaper and check on what’s happening in the world, remember that learning can be fun and that it’s not only going to school.

Handwritten Note-Taking Methods
The appearance and organization of my notes plays a huge role in the amount of time that I dedicate to studying and my overall performance on tests. Therefore, I’ve spent the past several years experimenting with various methods, and these are a few of the techniques that I’ve found to be most beneficial.
Cornell Method

The Cornell Method emphasizes identifying the key points of a textbook passage or lecture and consolidating information as much as possible.
I’ve found that this style works best for literature and science courses that require extensive, dense reading and note-taking. It allows me to easily and quickly identify what I understand versus what I still need to work on.
Adapted Cornell Method

I’ve created my own adaptation of the Cornell Method by eliminating the summary section at the bottom of the page and incorporating Post-It notes throughout the body of the page to highlight lists and key points. And, of course, I had to add some color!
Outline

This is, by far, my favorite method due to its flexibility and clean, minimalist appearance. While the image above doesn’t depict a true series of bullets at varying levels of indentation, you can experiment with different types of bullet points as well as varying spacing.
I prefer using this method for maths because it allows sufficient space for me to draw graphs, record examples, and solve problems.
Mind-Maps

Mind-maps are extremely helpful for organizing complex or extremely confusing topics. There’s no right or wrong way to go about drawing one, and much of the final appearance will be related to the material that you’re diagramming. Keep in mind that certain topics and information will more readily lend itself to this sort of portrayal.
For those of us who aren’t artistically talented 🙋🏼, these can be rather challenging to construct, especially when working with unfamiliar material. In the past, I’ve used mind-maps for history when looking at isolated events or individuals.

Bro I’m sick right now too and honestly you are getting a lot more done than I am. Good for you, sounds very productive!

still feeling very under the weather (and possibly developing a cough, because the whole mess of symptoms i’ve been dealing with over the last few days just weren’t enough, obviously) but feeling real tired of feeling tired! things i’ve done so far today:
tidied the bedroom
washed my bedding
sorted laundry
tidied the kitchen
swept the apartment
cleaned my desk, which was threatening to just swallow itself in books and papers
answered 4 student emails about essay feedback
reviewed notes to try and figure out what i’m doing with an upcoming project
had four cups of tea :-)
about to do a bit of free-writing to brainstorm for this upcoming project and then i have more emails to send and lots of reading to do. trying to make up, a bit, for the utter lack of work done over the last couple of days! i needed the days off for recovery, and i’m not giving myself shit about it because if you’re sick, you’re sick and your body is probably telling you to just chill for a hot minute, but this to-do list of mine is getting… out of hand. gotta get it under control!!

So update on To Kill A Mockingbird - I finished it last week(It is very interesting and I loved it), but in class, we are starting chapter 17, where the big court case happens. Since it’s the court case, my English teacher decided that we would do a reader’s theater. One of the requirements for the Honors students is to choose a major speaking part, so I chose Atticus Finch. It was really fun and I would’ve recorded part of it but I didn’t want to get my phone taken away. Maybe I’ll come up with something tomorrow, as we aren’t quite done. The girl who spoke Mayella’s part was very good at fake crying and being just dramatic enough, it was interesting to watch and participate in.

7 Tips to Help Students get Organized
1. Get up early on school days. Allow yourself plenty of time to get ready in the morning (and don’t switch off your alarm clock).
2. Prepare your clothes and school supplies the night before.
3. Prepare a “to do list” for each day. Do this in the evening, before you go to bed.
4. Have a designated study area (and that doesn’t include in front of the TV). Keep this free of clutter, with essential supplies close at hand.
5. Don’t overload your schedule with extracurricular activities. All yourself some time just to chill and do nothing.
6. Use a calendar to keep on top of homework and tests. Some people find using colour coding helps.
7. Have regular, and consistent, study times.

Shout out to my Arabic teacher that looked at us yesterday mid-lesson and said, “I’m worried. You all look exhausted and depressed.”
Of course we were all like, “Oh yeah we’re dead inside, you haven’t noticed?”
And he snapped shut the textbook, threw up his hands and said, “That’s not healthy! No more vocab! Time for dancing!”
And he taught us a dance from Iraq and we danced instead of doing vocab. We didn’t stop dancing until he saw all of us laughing and was satisfied that we were all feeling better. It was perhaps the coolest, most kind-hearted thing I’ve ever seen a college instructor do.
