It’s hard enough to protect oneself from the monsters, but having others to look for is even harder. Not everyone’s so nice like you.”

     “My intentions are - “  She bit her lip, thinking about whether or not telling him about it.  His skepticism was appropriate, if she was in his place, she wouldn’t act any different. Especially knowing what she was capable of. But the boy in front of her didn’t seem like a bad person who’d kill others just for fun. So it wouldn’t hurt telling him. She offered the other a smile. “My intentions are to get to that pharmacy two streets down without getting a hole blown in my face.”

         he almost reigns in on his expression but decides against it,   mouth staying set in somewhat of a frown.   the grip on the gun is still strong,   but he’s eliminated her as a threat in his mind.   still,   he stays vigilant,   only because he’s never seen her before.   “—-   then what are you doing out here?”

    “In general?-” she shrugs her shoulders. “Just trying to survive.” Elizabeth pauses, observing his facial expressions. Does she see a threat in him? Not really. It isn’t the first time a weapon is pointed at her. “Not trying to be rude, but I don't feel at ease telling a stranger where I'm heading to. Let’s just say I need to go somewhere.”

The words are an immediate reassurance. She didn’t think the walkers could string words together, not beyond uhh and rghh. Tucking her gun away, she said, “Alright, alright, mea culpa. It’s hard to tell from a distance. Can’t be too careful.”

“Thanks.” A soft smile appeared on Elizabeth’s lips as the other put the gun away. “Can’t disagree with that. But there are many people out there who don’t really care who’s in front of them, living or dead. Just wanted to make sure you’re not one of them.”

“The pet store?” Elizabeth eyed the man in front of her curiously. It was a welcoming change to meet someone who didn’t want to kill or threaten her. “I can bring you there, but what on earth do you need from a pet store?”

     “Yeah, nice to see you, too.” Elizabeth offered him a fake smile.  “You know, I’d say I’m surprised to see you, but actually I’m not. You seemed like a person who’d stop at nothing in order to survive. And here you are. Pointing a gun at me.“ She stopped, creating a dramatic pause. “And I can’t do anything but admitting that you were right about the government, as much as it pains me to say that.”

Elizabeth rolled her eyes as sarcasm was something she never could stand. “Then you’ve met the wrong people, honey. Not everyone is a monster, there are still good people in this world, even in times like these.

    “Are you on drugs or something? Matrix...” Elizabeth shook her head while a smile played on her lips. “I wish it was like that. That we could just wake up someday and found out it was all just a simulation to test the human brain and it’s reactions and limits. But unfortunately, there’s no such thing as that. This shit is reality. And we have to deal with it ”
