watcher does not use AI generated anything.

i still find people thinking watcher uses AI images, choosing not to subscribe to them because of it, even though it credits an illustrator where applicable and also says this disclaimer in the description:

“No part of this video knowingly uses Al generated content or images. Though many industry-standard editing and post production programs have incorporated Al into their main workflows, Watcher is committed to paying our wonderful artists and minimizing the impact these tools have on our final content.”

there was one or two times where an AI generated image had got in to their content, and they have acknowledged it, and explained that it was NOT intentional, and they replaced the images.

shane himself saw a complaint about one of these AI images used in puppet history, and responded to it on reddit.

shane’s direct response:

“Hey everybody, Shane here. Thank you for pointing out that this sucks, because it does, and I'm glad somebody noticed it. We try to be extremely vigilant about making sure that Al isn't used in any of our shows. As has been brought up elsewhere in this thread, we had one slip through the cracks on Mystery Files last year that, in hindsight, was painfully obvious and that we should have caught. In the past few years whenever we've brought on an artist for asset creation we explicitly state that our policy is to use no Al-generated content whatsoever, but evidently we missed this one as it was culled from a stock search that clearly didn't have the filter setting active. I know we've done SOME boneheaded stuff but I assure you it isn't our intention to use one easily photoshopped Al graphic every 1-2 years, and promise you we'll try to be even more strict about this going forward. We're swapping out the ugly fuckin cake in question on WTV and for the YT release and combing through the rest of the season (and checking the stock site URLs) to make sure that nothing else fishy is in the mix.”

and for another one, shane is very loudly anti-AI on his socials. he is an artist, has a wife who is an illustrator, and has friends who do work in the industry which AI is replacing and taking away their jobs. so i believe him when he writes this.

i'm so glad steven, andrew, and adam have their own channel now. it's clear that the algorithm wasn't pushing them and now the people who love them are finding them again. i hope that it's so successful that all of the haters are pushed back forever. they really didn't deserve the hate. they made a great show and now it's finally finding the people who actually appreciate them
