A few months following the events of CORPSE-PARTY, Yuka Mochida’s friend Satsuki Mizuhara receives an eerie letter in the mail, inviting her to an old abandoned manor in her neighborhood. She then decides to show the letter to her friends. Her best friend, Yuka Mochida, says she has a bad feeling about this, for one line in the letter stood out in her mind:
"At midnight, the coffin of your heart will open and be offered up."
Yuka tells her friend that she knows once Satsuki enters the mansion, she will never be able to leave. However, Masami and Rina treat the letter with contempt, saying it is trying to make a fool of them.
Despite Yuka’s warnings, Satsuki feels something inexplicably compelling about this particular letter, and she heads out to explore the old abandoned manor with Masami, Rina, and Sugimura. Yuka, worried about her friends’ safety, convinces her older brother and his girlfriend to tag along.
Not long after entering the property, the seven soon realize that they have become trapped...

Sooo, today I was wandering down a rabbit hole and I somehow I found my way back to this page after about 8 months ago when I finished playing the fun returning nightmare demo. I was wondering if this project was left behind or something? Also, it looks like Moca's twitter account was suspended or something. Not really sure if anyone will see this, but my curiosity told me I should at least try and ask for any possible updates to this.
Hi, moca here!
As of August 2019, the game has been discontinued and has not been worked on since then. Sorry, no updates have been made and I don’t see myself picking up the game in the future. I have been focusing on making original games now.
My new twitter
My personal tumblr
Thank you for your continued interest for the game! I guess if there is enough support, I’ll consider picking the project back up or handing it to a trusted developer to finish.

Hi, do you think there is a possibility to use the seven characters for other projects? (Since these seven are your creation, I think it would be okay if you want to use them in original projects)
I mean, I could if I wanted to but I created these characters to be in a Corpse Party universe. Putting them in another game would just feel weird. As much as I love my characters, I'd rather create original ones for my original games.

Hullo!! Not really a question, but I just wanted to say thank you for making this game,, I commented on your old deviantArt post before, and was so excited to see how you were developing your game!! I was ecstatic when the first two chapters came out, and I have to admit, I cried when I saw that you discontinued the development,, but still, thank you for making such an amazing game, even though only two chapters came out, I adored both, as well as the characters!! Thank you so much~!! ♡♡
Thank you for the heart warming message!! It truly means a lot to me. Perhaps one day far off in the future I'll pick this project back up but for now, I'd like to focus on original works. I'm glad that the game able to affect you that much, it makes me happy!

What would be the romantic couples of the game? (Beyond the love triangle)
Besides the triangle, the other pairs would be Takeshi x Akemi and Hisako x Daisuke. There was going to be a wrong end where Takeshi and Hisako got together though.

Was there a love triangle between Kazu Kanna, and Toshi? Or did Kanna only see Toshi as a friend? (It's just my impression that Toshi wanted to help Kazu win Kanna, since we know he likes Kanna, but Kanna seemed to have feelings for Toshi)
There was a love triangle between the three. Kazu likes Kanna, Kanna likes Toshi, and Toshi likes Kazu.

Gahh, I was SO curious to see your view on the Blood Drive stuff, and how this would connect to the original surviors, how HH was still sucking in souls... Would you be interested in sharing just a little bit since it's basically over now?
Sure. Blood Drive spoilers below.
Well, keep in mind that the game still takes place in the Tortured Souls OVA universe, so I have the advantage of changing something about the lore to my liking if it’s not mentioned in the OVA (hint: which means a lot of it is left out and I have much more control over the lore with this).
Since the only survivors in the OVA were only Ayumi and Naomi, I tried my best to keep away from mentioning the main cast. The only times they are mentioned, it’s only to remind the player that it takes place in the Tortured Souls OVA.
When playing Blood Drive, I noticed that Yuki or the other victims of the Heavenly Host murders were no where to be found (Yuki does make an appearance, but it isn’t actually her so I don’t count it), even though at the end of the first game, it’s implied that Yuki is the new host since she takes on the red dress in one of the wrong ends. With Returning Nightmare, I set out to explain why the three victims weren’t in Blood Drive.
The reasoning I came up was this:
When Sachiko got appeased, there was a brief moment where no one was in control of the Nirvana. This was an opportunity for the Queen to take control of the Nirvana, but was quickly robbed by Yuki becoming the New Sachiko. During this moment where no one was in control, the Queen was able to represent herself through the Nirvana as a monster. As Takeshi and the other students appeased the children again, this time fully appeasing them as every single body part was returned to them, the Queen got stronger and stronger, and there would be a power struggle hinted at in Chapter 3 between Yuki and the Queen.
Once everyone was appeased by the end of Chapter 4, the Queen took total control of the Nirvana and swallowed every one whole. The 5th Chapter would’ve been a pscho-analysis of the remaining survivors done by the Queen as a ‘reward’ to Takeshi and the others for unknowingly helping the Queen take back the Nirvana. The Queen would let the Takeshi and the others leave home if they got through their own trials, and would leave everything else up to Blood Drive to explain further.

Would you consider showing the story in fanfic form? (I would like to know all the events of history in detail)
I'm not sure. I did have thoughts about turning it into a manga, but that might end up being even more effort than making a game. Not to mention there would not be any reasonable way to show the many different types of endings which is something that I wanted Returning Nightmare to be known for. I'll give more thought to it if I ever do consider doing something with this story but for now, I want to leave it alone and focus on my original works.

Would you ever considering transferring development of the game to an interested dev?
Possibly, but I dont think so. I was very meticulous with the writing of the game, especially with the Wrong Ends and I dont think anyone else could see the same vision of the game as I do.

Corpse Party: Returning Nightmare is now discontinued. Thank you for the support!
Hello everyone, @moca-pz here, creator of Corpse Party: Returning Nightmare.
I am announcing that the game has been discontinued and will no longer be in development.
I started this project back in 2014, 5 years ago! I had no experience whatsoever in writing but my love for the series Corpse Party compelled me to write seriously for the first time in my life. When I started this game, I had set out to create the best Corpse Party fangame ever. Something that was incredibly ambitious, but I was confident in myself. I had even hoped that when it was completed, there would be a Japanese translation of the game, and my ultimate goal was to have Makoto Kedouin, creator of Corpse Party, play the game. Ridiculous, I know, but I was really hopeful!
Over the years however, the inactivity of the series drained my motivation, and it didn't help that I didn't receive much reception for the game. Not that I was developing the game for attention, obviously, but it didn't help that after releasing the second chapter of the game on the discord server, only 2-3 people had expressed excitement for it.
Nowadays, I find more enjoyment on creating original games. I had created MOMOKA for IGMC 2018, I'm in the middle of developing another rpg maker horror game named Katharsis, and I'm in involved in other projects with friends that have been yet to be announced.
For those who were excited about the completion of the game, I am truly sorry. I thank each and every one of you for showing your support.
I want to give a special shout out to 32d, the artist and character designer of the game. They are so, so talented and the game would've never reached Chapter 1 if it weren't for them. Thank you.
I also want to shout out Enigmaopoeia from the @memoriesoffear team. Hands down, they are the number 1 fan of this fangame and were responsible for editing the writing, playtesting, name tag names, and so much more. The game wouldn't be as polished as it is if it weren't for their contributions. Thank you.
Just some things that I wanted to mention about the game now that it's cancelled:
There was going to be 5 main chapters and 11 Extra Chapters (with the final extra chapter being a hidden extra chapter and only unlocked if you collected every name tag and seen all 45 endings). I only advertised there would be 4 Chapters, but Chapter 4 would end on a plot twist and Chapter 5 would be immediately available to play as a complete surprise.
There was going to be 45 endings, trumping the highest amount of endings that has ever been in a Corpse Party game. 5 true ends, 1 extra end, and a whopping 39 unique Wrong Ends, all of which were already planned. There was multiple timelines within the wrong ends that connected together, similar to Book of Shadows but on a much larger scale.
The meat man is an embodiment of the Nirvana. This fangame was meant to be a bridge to Blood Drive, hence a lot of the Blood Drive influences.
The final survivors were going to be Takeshi and Toshihiro.
That's it for this announcement. If you liked what I did, please check out my original stuff. If you have questions about the game's story details or such, feel free to submit an ask or ask in the discord server.

HOOOOLLYYYYY DAMN! I did NOT see that ending coming in CH2! I also didn't expect that corpse in the infirmary to be YOU KNOW WHO. I'm not saying anything because I don't wanna spoil it but first of all how dare you. Second of all HOW DARE YOU, and third of all HOW DARE YOU! Ah, fuck I can't believe you've done this. KEEP UP THE FANTASTIC WORK! I cannot WAIT to see how the rest of this plays out. The characters I want to see live the most are Toshi, Hisako and Akemi.
I’m glad that you are enjoying the game so far ;D! Chapter 3 should drop next month or in February. Please look foward to it!
