i need some advice about a friend (sorry if my grammar is bad, english isn’t my first language) we’re online friends and live far away from each other. i wasn’t sure if i should post this because i feel like i might be overreacting, but i just need to let it out:((

so, we’ve been friends since late 2022. we kinda drifted apart due to some problems but started talking again in mid-2023. the thing is, for most of our friendship, i’ve basically “molded” myself to his interests, watching his favorite shows, listening to him talk about the things he loves, and actually trying to be a part of it. and i was fine with it!!!!!!

but at the start of 2024, i started getting back into my own interests, which i had kinda pushed aside. i even introduced him to some of them, and he liked a few! but for others, he said he had bad experiences with people who liked them, so i let those go again out of respect

now, there’s this one character from a game i love, and i’m really attached to him, i thought it wouldn’t be a big deal if my friend didn’t like him because after all, i don’t like all of his favorite characters either, but i still let him talk about them, duh, but nope every time i bring up this character, he just interrupts me to go on about how much he hates him,,,and he’s done this so many times that i just stopped talking about him and other characters altogether.

but it’s not just that. lately i've been feeling like he doesn’t seem interested in me like at all. he never asks how i’m doing or how my day was,he just talks about his day and how he feels and stuff, a perfect example is that i went on a two-week trip to the uk where i wasn't able to text him that much except for a few minutes in the night before going to sleep, and when i got back, he didn’t ask me a single thing about it. NOTHING!!!!! i called him out like, "i was literally gone for two weeks, and you haven’t asked me anything about it" he just laughed, said, "okay, okay, sorry" and then asked about it, only to reply with "amazing." and then he just moved on to his own stuff.

same thing happens when i talk about my ocs, which are really special to me,,one of them, in particular, is super personal and when i was talking about her, my friend just interrupted me (even though he knows i hate being interrupted) and completely changed the topic (•ᴖ • ｡) it really felt like he just didn’t care

AND!!! he can be really negative. like, just yesterday, we were playing a game on roblox, and he kept complaining about some random person’s avatar, saying stuff like "i hate emos!!" (they were scene) and "slit your wrists and finish the job!!" i know he was joking, and i get that he feels like he has the “right” to joke about that since he used to do self-harm,,, but i used to struggle with that too. i didn’t cut (so i don’t have scars), but those jokes still feel really insensitive to me.

i don’t know what to do. i feel like i put so much effort into this friendship, but i don’t feel like he values me the same way. am i overreacting? should i say something????

hello anon. don't apologise, you're a breath of fresh air after the recent visitors in my inbox. I think a slightly more accurate description of Bisan’s ask is to stop or minimise all economic activity not in direct support of Palestine. Now more than ever, I would encourage people to donate to escape funds for Palestinians, to direct aid organisations like CareforGaza and the PCRF, and to buy e-sims as they’re running low.

Below I’ve compiled a list of resources below but this is definitely just a small sample size of what you can do to help during this strike. This post here is an extremely comprehensive resource that I’d recommend you have a look at.
