"Do you know the sharpest sentiment I felt since awakening? It's disappointment. [...] I've discovered that I made the mistake of leaving too many reactionary forces alive in my time. As soon as I vanished, they leaped to purge my government and reverse my most revolutionary policies. They retaliated without mercy against the workers and peasants who rose up at my call. Now, despite all the improvements in technology, the rich have gotten richer, and the poor have gotten poorer."
— Qin Zheng

It's come to my attention that some people have been reading a certain scene in Heavenly Tyrant in a way I did not intend, and it's causing me so much distress that I am formally issuing a correction to the book in the form of a set of clarifying lines.
If you own a printed copy of Heavenly Tyrant right now, please take a pen and add the following lines to the top of page 434: [We can sculpt anything out of spirit metal. I could even FEEL through it. We can make this work.]
If you haven't read to that point yet, you can cover the text with a piece of paper to avoid spoilers while flipping through the book. The page is on the lefthand side.
Hopefully this scene will now read without ambiguity. I am campaigning to get the lines added in the ebook and future physical printings, including the translated editions. I've already confirmed that the Italian version (which has incredible translation work by Paolo Maria Bonora, btw) will have them in.
Thank you, everyone, and sorry for the trouble! I really thought it was plenty obvious that he was about to get pegged.

What kind of life would that be? Being tools, being leverage, for the rest of their existence?
They're the ones who taught me how horrible that feels.
