this is so??? the implication that to Jace, somehow, making the effort of going to Simon’s house early in the morning and climbing up to his windowsill just to put a sticky note on his window (inside or out? serious question. did he pry open the window or simply stick it outside and pray for no wind) to tell him to go meet him at the Institute is somehow the most convenient method of communication. as opposed to sending Simon a text. fucking sends me.

I feel like it was explained like the second one. That's also how I imagine alternative timelines. Like one key moment that makes the deviations from our reality. So one original timeline (not necessarily ours) and all other worlds come from it. And kinda like biology, the closer the branching the closer the different worlds

Asking the Shadowhunters fandom this question;

When I imagine the Shadowhunters universes, I think of them as seperate worlds. Kind of like this;

So, the straight line in the part where all universes follow the same timeline, and where they bend is where the timeline diverges from being the same.

So, Edom's timeline ceased to be the same timeline as Earth/Thule's timeline earlier than Thule's timeline diverged, and Thule and Earth diverged at the same time(the Battle of the Burren).

But a friend thought something different. They though that Edom, Thule and Earth were the same world, and only started being "alternate universes" when their timelines diverged. Sort of like this;

Earth(the timeline featured in the books) is the main timeline, while Thule and Edom only become a different universe when they diverge from Earth's timeline.

Which theory do you agree with? They're pretty different, and I was just wondering what people though of the theories....

Time to share my biggest Ty headcanon.

If the Shadowhunters weren’t so ignorant about autism and the Blackthorn hadn’t grown up in such a secluded way due to their circumstances, Ty would have dozens of girls and boys after him. Let me explain:

1. Ty is very intelligent, like, extremely intelligent. Who doesn’t love a smart guy? Exactly.

2. He is beautiful (out of this world beautiful). Kit said it himself, he has a delicate yet firm body. And he was blessed with a model’s face (Kit literally describes it as an angelic one sometimes).

3. Despite his body looking delicate, he is not fragile. He can fight. He DOESN’T LIKE fighting (which in my opinion makes him even better), but he can do it, and he is good at it. This would make him more attractive to other Shadowhunters considering how much they value strength in combat.

4. HE’S A FREAKING DISNEY PRINCESS. He loves animals, and animals love him too, he can tame them, he literally tamed a lynx for Christ sake. Again, who doesn’t love an animal lover?, especially one that animals love back.

In conclusion, Kit would have had a lot more competition if Shadowhunters didn’t behave like Neanderthals at times and weren’t so ignorant about autism.

it bothers me much that neither adaptation of City of Bones included the scene of Simon defeating Abbadon because it's so incredibly pivotal to his character. it marks the shift away from the depicted of this guy who's so obviously out of his depth in this world, a burden who can't cope and gets himself in helpless situations like where he's a rat and kidnapped by vampires. the Lightwoods are dismissive of him right up until this moment, where Simon proves he is capable of adapting to their world and that he is an asset. he succeeds where they fails and saves all their lives, through both cleverness (realising breaking the skylight will injure the demon) and athleticism (being able to use Alec's bow to effectively execute his plan). it's also the moment where the illusion of the shadowhunters is broken a bit, like they aren't always fearless and capable to face any threat — they are not invincible! its so important on so many levels to everything that happens later!

....and the show doesn't even attempt to adapt it and the movie changes it so Simon whacks Dorothea with a shovel and Jace kills her instead 🙃

Top 5 favorite characters and why (I want the juicy deats)

Okay I got asked a top 3 earlier so to make it easier I'm gonna copy that and elaborate on it. Then I'm gonna take it to 5☺️ but I gotta be honest once in a while my favourites change so if you ask me in a month it will be different because I love so many of them

1. Kit Herondale

Herondale check. Sarcasm check. Amazing potential check. I also love the way we see the shadow world through his pov as it's a completely different take because he grew up disposing them, only to fall in love with one of them. I'll never forget him and his revenge cookies

2. Jem Carstairs

Do you even need an explanation on for sweet sweet Jem. I love him and Will as well but Jem has a special place in my heart.

3. Simon Lewis

He went through so much and his character growth is amazing. He's nerdy, plays the guitar and can fight demons? Awesome.

4. Tessa Gray

The way we get reintroduced to the shadow world through Tessa's eyes is beautiful. She loves books, just like most of us and she is so nice. I love her friendship with Sophie and how we see her through Jems eyes in gotsm. Even though people discriminate against her she stays kind and open to everyone.

5. Livvy Blackthorn

Her death killed both me and her. The way she says she wants to grow up to be like Julian. Her dynamic with Kit and Ty. Her story in Thule. When I was 16 i aspired to be like her.

Cordelia would have made the list if not for the fact that ChoT is my least favourite book, because I love her character but there is so much wasted potential imo just like for most of the TLH characters. The love triangle and miscommunication just didn't do it for me.

Some honorable mentions: Izzy cause we have the same cooking skills, Cristina cause I aspire to be her, Emma because academic validation and wanting to be the best is real, Diana, Ty and Anna cause representation is powerful, Mark because he is so sweet and went through so much and Christopher Lightwood because i am a chem. engineering and i fall for boys with testtubes. Magnus cause he is steady factor, always there. Alec because he became the change he wanted to see in the world and that is damn powerful.
