My Journey to Escape the War in Gaza
My name is Abdelmajed. I never imagined I’d be sharing my story like this, but life in Gaza has become unbearable. I am a survivor of the war here, and in the blink of an eye, everything I once knew—my home, my safety, my community—was ripped away from me.

The war has transformed Gaza into a graveyard of broken dreams. The buildings that once stood as symbols of life and resilience are now piles of rubble. Every corner is filled with the echoes of explosions. Every moment is shrouded in uncertainty. There is no security. There is no stability. There is no light at the end of the tunnel.
Basic needs have become luxuries. Food is scarce. Clean water is even scarcer. Hospitals are overwhelmed and under-resourced, and there is almost no medical care to be found. Every night, families go to bed hungry, praying they’ll wake up to see another day. The cost of basic necessities has skyrocketed, and it’s become a daily battle just to survive.
I’ve seen things I never thought possible—standing in long lines for a piece of bread, rationing every drop of water, and watching my people suffer in silence. I have lost everything—my home, my safety, my dignity.
Escape from Gaza is my only hope, but it’s almost impossible without financial help. The cost of evacuation is far beyond my means, and without support, I’m trapped in a warzone with no way out.
I’m reaching out to you now, in the hopes that someone, anyone, can help. I am not asking for luxury. I am asking for a chance—just a chance—to live. A chance to escape this never-ending cycle of fear, destruction, and loss. A chance to rebuild my life somewhere safe, where I can begin again, where I can find hope once more.
Any amount you can give will help me get closer to safety. Even the smallest donation will make a difference—it could be the lifeline I need to survive. If you are unable to donate, please share my story. The more people who hear it, the better the chance that I can find the support I desperately need.
Your kindness and support mean the world to me. You’re not just helping me escape a war; you’re giving me a chance to live, to rebuild, to breathe again.
Thank you for listening. Thank you for caring.

Wilbur "Runner" Conley Research Part 2:
So here is my boy's senior photo- class of '41- ie, the best pic on the internet now of him. Sadly for Runner, his training is going to look a liiitle bit different than he might have planned on...

Leckie tells us that Runner went to a prep school- which is true! He attended the Nichols School which at the time, was a boy's only, private academy in Buffalo, New York. It's still around today- now coed- and the yearly tuition is around $30,000 per year for a high schooler. So. Not cheap and probably wasn't cheap either in during the 1930's and '40s. Family is probably doing well.
Now, looking through the yearbook, Conley wasn't quite an honors student- he doesn't make it on any of the top academic lists/honors at least, but what he is doing is athletics and a lot of it.
Here's Conley in varsity basketball, plus a little cartoon with him in it. They did not do well that year- apparently 1941 wasn't a good year for Nichols and whoever wrote that first line wasn't holding back the punches.

Here's Conley for the varsity football team- the writer of this is giving me life as are the cartoons.

Here he is for track- the passive aggressiveness of this writer is giving me life once more. little cartoons! Apparently Conley was in the 100 yard dash and did some jumping- his '39 season is same dash and in the high jump. Also this man really likes to manspread for some reason in all his pics- like the two guys beside him are all squished in - like dude, make some room.

Lastly, Leckie talked about a world of dances- well, that's probably because Runner was part of his school's dance committee for a few years- here's him in his senior year.

And for their senior ballot: we have Conley voted first for the marry first category, and the best dancer- he's in third for biggest bluffer.

I talked it over with a friend of mine- we figured he probably was a decently popular athlete, probably self-confidant (but not egotistical since he followed Chuckler so willingly), and a good dancer- if he's part of the dance committee, I figure he likely enjoyed dancing enough to put time and effort into it. any thoughts are welcome!
