I get to be more free as an adult than I ever did as a child and I think more kids need to know that. as a high schooler part of what made my depression so bad was being told over and over again that it was the most carefree time of my life. while I was trapped in an abusive home + amongst bullies at school + in a body that wasn’t right for me. opportunities to be carefree don’t end when you turn 18. you can be more you than ever as an adult and that’s such a gift. Cryptid Biology 3: Deepsea Creatures

[This wasn't supposed to be a trilogy, but I had to add Rain into the mix. Not suitable for younger audiences... you know why.] Below the cut.

They call it "tangling".

That's when two water ghouls intertwine their genitalia to create a sort of, well, a tangle.

It's usually only done during the mating season, because it requires the involved parties to remain connected for some time in a rather vulnerable position, but living on the surface has made it near impossible for Rain to find the chance to convince one of the other ghouls to let him even try tangling with them.

He's not even sure they'd be compatible in that regard.

Water ghoul junk is weird, even among other ghouls, being more... flexible.

Simply put?

Rain can reach places others cannot, even Mountain would struggle to get to achieve his reach, but no one really had the space for him to bury himself completely.

He wasn't big per say, but he was long, and when there's more than one, well, individual size doesn't mean much, now does it?

"You're more than welcome to coax them out, I'm sure they'd love to play together, just gotta convince them." he says, canting his hips towards Rain, "I'd do it myself, but the last time I forced them out, it took Swiss and me half an hour to get them to go back in and it was... deeply unpleasant."

Rain shudders at the thought, "Ouch."

"Damn right, ouch! Just glad Swiss trims his nails, the way he was shoving- Anyway, just... Show me what those talented fingers can do."

Rain grips either side of Dew's hips and pulls him down the bed, pausing.

"So, wait, Swiss just-" he gestures quickly with two fingers, "-Like that? Really?"

"Yeah!" Dew laughs, "He was like, 'Is this okay??', like, dude, he's so good at that stuff usually but he was definitely panicking."

"Why didn't you help him?"

They’re not lovers. Barely friends usually depending on who you ask. Two ghouls doomed in their own sense to loneliness, alpha after having omega taken from him by Terzo, and pebble having to watch his best friend essentially decay in front of him by omegas hand.

It’s a dynamic neither of them really like usually. Pebble begs alpha to let omega go. That he’s better than groveling for attention. Even if pebble has no suggestion on where he’s to go. Sure they can have quick hook ups and longer hate fucks with bare minimum after care but it’s not a substitute for love, even if they both try to convince themselves it is.

Pebble riles alpha up for attention usually. A harsh touch is still being touched. Hate is still something more than nothing and honestly pebble will take what he can get sometimes. An internal need to be pushed down and punished that only alpha will truly indulge in. And for alpha? It’s about control. Two sides of the same coin truly. Pebble is tired of feeling like everything in his control goes wrong so he forces someone else to take it from him; and alpha is tired of feeling like he has no control over anything so he takes it from pebble.

They care about each other deep down. Truly alpha is one of the only ones who’s ever seen pebble so vulnerable, and pebble trusts him completely with that. Would never use his feelings or things he’s ashamed of against him unless they were alone. And pebbles the only one who argues with alpha about omega, the only ghoul to pay that close attention and argue that he deserves better.
