CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT A new lawsuit against Pet Safe e-collar manufacturers alleges they are not safe for dogs. I'm not sure when e-collars became so popular in "training" dogs, I wish they would just stop making them all together. I have never seen a dog that was actually helped by one of these things, regardless of what many clients May think. It actually adds to a dog's stress and can cause serious harm. I've seen dogs with PTSD because of this. This also includes invisible fences. I'm sure we're going to see more of these lawsuits as time progresses. Monte is not a happy camper that we cannot go on walks whilst he has the new virulent strain of cough that seems to be ripping through Charlotte! My dog had it as well. Apparently the bordetella vaccine covers six of the 10 upper respiratory infections that dogs can get, and this new cough seems to be evading the vaccine. Folks, if you take your dogs to a doggie daycare or dog park, and you live in the Charlotte area, you need to be aware that this highly contagious strain is going around. Almost every one of my clients dogs has gotten it at one point in these past few months. This behavior is not ok. I have seen far too many people use this same type of maneuver, saying they had to "discipline" their dog. Unless your dog is attacking another animal or person, scruffing and pinning a dog is NOT a good disciplinary tactic. The ONLY time I have ever pinned a dog is when it was attacking my dog and wouldn't leave her alone.
