kimixnoxkioku:
Aigis doesn’t quite understand the value of ancient tomes and spell books have, she does find it kind of admiring how Keito is so dedicated in searching for them. Tenacity is a good virtue after all, and it’s good to be passionate about something too~
At his decline, the gunslinger puts the potions aside and opted to start refilling their water bottles for the both of them. According tot the mage, their journey will be nearing it’s end. That’s good, though she hoped that their destination would be a safe haven from all the monsters that could attack them at any given moment.
“I’m alright. Thank you for asking.” The blonde has been professionally trained for almost her entire life. It’s gonna take more than just a long walk to tire her out.
Once she was done fetching water, the blonde was about to go get her own lunch from her bag when the abrupt sounds of rustling leave made her freeze on the spot. There’s no breeze right now, so it’ can’t be just the air doing it can it?
This might be just her battle instincts kicking in from just a small thing, but she’s not gonna take any chances…
“Hasumi-san…” She called her companion. Her tone hushed and low as to make sure he’s the only one who can hear.
“Did you hear that?”
Keito was looking over his notes for a bit longer, wanting to be absolutely certain of the rest of their path. Careless mistakes on his part could lead to disaster for both of them, and he would not allow that to happen. They had come so far, he didn’t want to fail now. There hadn’t been much trouble recently, but one could never be too careful in a place like this. The world was a dangerous place.
But suddenly, Keito didn’t feel too good. Something…was here. Aigis could sense it too, he could tell by her hushed whisper just barely audible. Keito stood, brushing himself off to pretend to act casual. He reached for his bag, rummaging around and stashing his notes. “Agreed. It seems we have some company.”
He returned his words with just as soft of tones. He wouldn’t want them to be alerted to the two travelers onto them. “I have my spell bow ready in case they decide to try anything. It seems someone doesn’t want us to take that tome. However, I will not be dissuaded by a few intruders.”
Just as Keito had finished, a rather large beast launched from the bushes, and began a charge. The mage quickly waved his hands, and fired a translucent arrow toward the center of it’s face.

Eichi:
Eichi only smiled in response to Keito’s groan. He knew that his friend meant no harm with worrying. No one knew when his condition would change again but he was sure that it wouldn’t change that fast. At least not today, he felt so good that he could jump around. Though, he wouldn’t tell Keito that or the other would tie him down on the chair. His smile only widened as he listen to his words. Keito worried about him and so did Eichi. He also worried about his friend.
“I’m glad you understand, Keito. Ah, of course you do, you know me better than anyone else.” the blonde chuckled softly, obviously happy that Keito wasn’t going to complain any more. His smile grew wider, just like the one of an child when a wish would be fulfilled. Eichi was fully aware of the fact that his dear friend would accompany him because Eichi would simply drag him around if he wanted or not. But it still made him very happy to spend some time with him. “Mhm, we should spend time together more often, outside the hospital of course. I would love that.” He shook his head, chuckling. “Nothing dangerous, I promise. Though, I know you would be there to save me, right? Fufu, you are like my personal hero~”
Keito would just follow Eichi’s wishes for now. But if there was so much as a single sign of his health decreasing or deteriorating, he would make the two of them leave immediately. Keito always had to have a plan, especially when Eichi was involved. The Emperor would let his imagination and wishes run wild without supervision, and that was a dangerous game to let him play. Nonetheless, they could still enjoy themselves outside all the paperwork and performances. That much he knew to be true, even if it was just for a few hours.
“I try at least, but don’t you compare me to Morisawa, I’m no hero. But…I agree. It seems like we’re either working or spending time in the hospital. So I suppose this is well deserved. We should definitely stick to the smaller and safer rides for just a little while. I don’t want you going straight for the roller coasters without warming yourself up. Besides…I might have a heart attack if I ride one of those…”

Mazumi had just been slouching on the bench that they had in there for the members to rest on, and when they saw Keito come in, they smiled and waved at him, letting a yo-yo return to their hand. “Heya four-eyes~ Wassah dude?” Mazumi couldn’t help the mischievous grin that came over their face as they realized Keito has approached with caution.
“Are ya plannin’ on holding practice today? Or are ya too in love with your work in order to do that?” The pink haired student really hoped it was the former, because Keito really looked like he needed to relax a bit. Mazumi would have just thrown an arm around Keito and drug him down to force him to relax, but… As of late, they felt butterflies in their stomach even just being near him… “I was plannin’ on doing some tricks, since I’m just spending some time here… How is everything?”
Mazumi was always a strange case. He never understood why it was that they acted the way they did. They were certainly unique in a variety of ways. It was easy for him to get wired in his own work, forgetting that breaks were things normal people needed, but not Keito. He didn’t know the meaning of the word.
“I wasn’t planning on holding a formal practice, no. I was mostly here to just shoot a few arrows myself, and think about a few things. It’s a good space to clear my head.” Keito sighed, placing the rather large stack of books he was carrying down on the floor next to the seat Mazumi was in. “It’s just been busier than usual lately. And I find myself coming here a lot more now just to…exist. You’re free to sit there and do your tricks or join me. It doesn’t matter either way.”

“Whaa?! C'mon fam, ya gotta tell me, the thought of someone like you gettin’ laid so recently…” Did that say anything about the memelord themselves? No, totally not.
“… Was it back in DEADMANZ’s days?” They smirked knowingly.
“Wow...” Keito groaned, waving his hand. He wasn’t going to spill anything to Mazumi. That was a recipe for disaster. “Wouldn’t you like to know? Which you won’t, because I’m not telling you anything.” Huffing a small bit, Keito began to work on other things to distract himself.

“Oh yeah, that stuff!” Tori nodded in agreement, and he followed Keito. “I like that stuff! Let’s eat that then!”
He flashed Keito a sweet smile, making sure to give it his all. Keito really should be thanking him for being able to spend this sort of time with him!
Keito was pleased to hear that Tori was actually agreeing to take his advice. He couldn’t even begin to imagine what sort of monstrosities he would have made without some form of guidance. The thought alone was enough to give him a shiver.
The former vice president waved Tori toward the refrigerated pastas, stopping in front of the door. “Here it is. You can pick the size and what sort of flavor you want. There’s spinach, regular, three cheese…many choices. It depends on your own personal taste buds. Personally, the spinach one is my favorite.”

It was nice that he was comfortable. It was good to see that the other could settle down fairly quickly. Kuro wasn’t really slow, but it hit him a little late that Keito had… Complimented him? His face turned red, and he looked at Keito.
“Ah… I’m glad you… Think that.” He laughed a little, trying to get his face to stop heating up. He flexed his muscles playfully, smirking. “I make sure to stay in decent shape… I can’t punch people if I have noodle arms, yanno?” Keito’s expression was something he never thought he would see on Hasumi, let alone cause… It was a pleasant look though.
“You’re red.”
Keito wanted to protest, but he really couldn’t argue with the rather obvious statement. So the natural course of action was to protest anyway. Of course he wasn’t red, no that wasn’t it. It must have been the light of the fire. “No I’m not.”
It was a lie that only made his cheeks burn hotter. It was irritating and he couldn’t stop drumming his fingers. He had to do something to distract himself, otherwise this could go rather bad for him. So he decided to focus on the first things that Kuro had said. “I don’t think it’s possible for you to have noodle arms, Kiryu. There would have to be something seriously wrong with you, like stopping your workouts for a year. But I don’t see that happening…”

Kuro couldn’t help but smile some more as he saw Hasumi smile. It was a look that really fit him, and it was something that he should do so much more often. Kuro would have to make sure it happened.
At the question of performing, Kuro looked away, and he frowned a bit. “Ah… I sort of do, yes.” He admitted, shaking his head. “I think I really miss Kanzaki, though. I miss us all bein’ together and performing…”
Ah, he had said too much. He shook his head. “I don’t miss Kanzaki I guess, he’s livin’ with us after all, but… Still.” He missed mentoring him and making outfits for him, and the silly punishments Kanzaki would put himself through for messing up just one word in the song.
It was a strange trip down memory lane, coming back to this place. There were things Keito wished he would have done differently, now that he was older and obviously wiser. But well-wishing on the past never did anyone any favors. The important thing was to live in the present. And that’s what he had to focus on.
The former unit leader had to agree with everything Kuro said. It was…a strange nostalgia that he didn’t really know how to cure. “It really is a blessing…Kanzaki living with us. It was like we never left our small little…family. But we left it in other ways.” Keito leaned on the table, drumming his fingers on his cheek. “Maybe…we could all come back here someday, and perform just like we used to. A blast from the past, and show all these new idols what a top notch unit is like, hmm?”

hibikiwatarudesu:
Wataru couldn’t help but offer the glasses man a nice smile. Of course Wataru Hibiki had never forgetten about that mishap, maybe that was one of the only things all of the students within Yumenosaki remembered! It was certainly something that people would only dream would happen to Keito. It was sad that it was true.
“Ah!” He snapped out of it, and he smiled again. “Yes, it’s quite nice! Elevators are a gift, really. But my birds love it from up so high, you know~?” He hoped the other hadn’t forgotten about his feathered children!
At his question, however, he blinked, and he thought quietly to himself. Initially, the idol work had only been for a spice, a hobby if you will. However, the things that happened and the people that he met there… The war… All of it. It was something he would never forget, but he would never change.
“I do.” He answered honestly, his tone level for once. “Even with all of the bad things that happened… I do sometimes miss the rush of performing like that on stages for everyone.” It went without saying that the performances he did nowadays were different, not in a bad way, but it didn’t fill the same spot inside him as idol work had.
Keito had noticed Wataru’s change in tone almost immediately. It was strange to see him so level headed for once, and it made him a little bit…uneasy. He was used to acting annoyed and pretending that his antics bothered him. And they did to a certain extent, but not as much as he led everyone to believe. Now that things had changed, it set him a little on edge.
“I don’t doubt that. It must be nice for Ari to fly out the window without worrying about people accidentally swatting at him or something.” It was no surprise that Keito remembered all of Wataru’s birds, with how much that he used to ramble about them. The former student council vice president was an observant man, and he wouldn’t let his ‘rivalry’ with Wataru stop him from observing things about him.
Keito knew more about Wataru than he would ever admit to. “I can understand that. It’s different, not being an idol like we were. It was stressful, tons of work…but I enjoyed it. And while I still have a piece of that, living with Kiryu and Kanzaki and all…it still…doesn’t feel the same. Sometimes…I wonder if there are some ways to go back.” He paused, taking a slow and deep breath. “We all changed in some ways. I do regret what happened, you know.”

hibikiwatarudesu:
It was a surprise that the other had even come into the tavern, if Waratu was being honest. From the stories that he had heard, people like him were the first to go or the first to ditch people. It was no surprise when no one had replied to the man’s demands, and Wataru himself had only spared a quiet glance at the man. This man seemed rather serious, which was good, but how far was that going to push him?
His eyes traveled up to meet the other’s when he approached him, watching the way he held himself and how he dressed. He… Didn’t seem too bad. There was nothing alerting him right off the bat that he- ah, Hasumi? Keito Hasumi was a bad person. He seemed rather fine… Then again, they all had.
“Me?” His voice had cracked without him meaning it to, and he found himself looking down shyly. He could already hear the others in the tavern:
He’s cursed, you’re going to die and he’ll come out with your head.
Signing a death warrant, are ye? Go ahead, have a nice death.
I heard he’s taken souls from his partners, maybe it’s his tower?
Wataru couldn’t help but grow a little defensive, but instead of refuting their points, he reached out to take a sip of his drink. “I would love to, if you truly have intentions of going to the top together.” He quietly replied. “I’ll be by your side until you no longer wish for my company.”
Keito was immediately taken off guard by the sudden whispers and voices of the tavern. He began to formulate possible theories…but none of them made much sense to him. What was all this talk about curses and death? While it was true that no one had made it to the top of the tower yet, that was absolutely not going to stop Keito from finding what ancient secrets rested at the peak.
Adjusting his spectacles, the mage spared a couple of glances to the people speaking in hushed tones about his choice in partner. Curses were for people who had no faith in the world and in of magic. As a mage himself, he had never encountered a curse, and he didn’t plan to start now since it was all rubbish anyway.
“Yes, you. I don’t know what these people are talking about…but I don’t believe in curses or whatever nonsense they’re blabbing about.” Now finally hearing his potential partner actually speak more than just one word, Keito studied them carefully. “I have every intention to make it to the top, and it’s a challenge that needs to be taken as a team. I’m not a fool who would leave on his own. We travel together, that’s how partnership works. May I have your name?”

Wataru was the master at pushing conversations whichever way his whims fancied. He was just that good at things like that. He noticed the blush that overcame Keito’s face, and a smirk grew on his own.
“Oyaaa?” He leaned in looking at the blush on the glasses man’s face a little closer. “That is good to hear! You’ve at least have a reason not to consume gallons of energy drink; for this I am happy!” He knew that Keito needed to be watched, or else he was going to wreck himself for the sake of paperwork. “Me? Ah, I have a nice little place for myself.” He thought for a bit. “It’s higher up in the complex I’m in, but it gives me an absolutely wonderful view of the city.”
Keito took a side step to avoid the peering eyes of Hibiki. The last thing he needed was to give him more ammunition on himself. Although he was not pleased to note that Wataru still hadn’t forgotten about his mishap in the library...drinking way too many energy drinks in one sitting to finish his work. Thank god he changed the topic to something about the magician himself.
“Living higher comes with more stairs, but more peace and quiet. And the views tend to be better up higher. There also tend to be less insects to invade, which I find a nuisance.” Keito looked over again, putting his hands in his pockets. “Well I’m glad to hear you’re doing well for yourself after graduation. I have to know, do you miss idol work? I do sometimes.”

tsundere-model:
A hand resting casually on the silver handle of his sword, which now hung leisurely from his waist, Izumi peered into the mage’s eyes in search for any lies to uncover. A jungle temple… on the south. Ah, he had heard about the situation down there; he could understand why this man would be reluctant to step there on his own.
Tilting his head back slightly, chin up and eyes shining just a bit in a smug gesture, Izumi presented his hand forward for a handshake.
“Izumi Sena. I’m a knight here. But I guess you already know that.” he introduced himself “I specialize in ice spells and close combat. And I have my share of experience travelling around these places, so i believe I could prove myself useful in the trip… If, the pay proves to be good enough”
Knights are supposed to be earnest, proud and helpful. Izumi was only one of those three things, and if there was no money involved, he found no reason to act either.
This would be his proudest accomplishment if he could pull this off. While the bandits wouldn’t be much of a problem, since his bow struck down most before they could get anywhere close to him, it was the temple that worried him the most. Straightening himself out, he had to at least act like he deserved to be in the presence of a notable knight such as Izumi.
Knights were bound by honor, or at least that’s what Keito knew. He had made quite a bit of money selling his magical knowledge and secrets, transcribing scrolls that he sold to other wizards for a fair amount of money. Clearing his throat, he held out a coin purse that he had filled with gold throughout the last few months. It was worth quite the pretty penny. He untied it from his belt, and held it out to the knight.
“I’m prepared to give you everything in this if you help me get that book in there, Sir Izumi. An ancient spellbook rests in this temple. I know that several have tried to tame the temple, with no one coming out alive. I am but one mage. There are traps and powerful undead soldiers that rest in there. I won’t be able to take them all by myself. If that won’t suffice, I have plans to sell the secrets I learn in there for quite a bit more. Do we have ourselves a deal?”

Kuro sighed, and he let his head hang down. Water still dripped off his hair, but the heat was slowly remedying that.
Keito’s eyes… Were so soft. It didn’t matter to him why he was hanging out with him, really, instead it just mattered that they were spending this kind of time together. He could tell Hasumi was genuinely a good person. He was just too high strung sometimes.
“Well… while we wait, let’s make sure to get comfortable.” He laughed.
The Vice President would forever curse the rain for probably making his clothes smell weird, but he wasn’t particularly thinking about that right now. Other thoughts plagued his mind. He never imagined that he would be just...sitting in front of Kuro Kiryu’s stove out of the pouring rain waiting for pizza.
Today was an oddity, he decided. This wouldn’t happen ever again, just for the simple fact of how different he thought they were. It would ruin both of their reputations for completely different reasons. Or that’s what he thought for a split second before he really looked at the redhead next to him.
Kuro was strong, he knew that, but his muscles were far more defined in his eyes now. And he couldn’t stop staring. Turning a bit red in the face, he finally made himself look away when he heard Kuro talking again. Comfortable...he was already very comfortable. “Yeah, althought I’m pretty comfortable already.” He paused, his fingers drumming along the floor beneath him. “I never noticed how strong you were until just now. You know...your muscles and all.”

“Yeah, it’s never quiet here huh?” Kuro sighed and shook his head as he led Keito over to the table. “Yeah, here’s fine, let’s bet on who’s gonna do the best, yeah?”
He looked up at the stage they had performed on once or twice. “Man… It’s just weird being here again. It’s nice though.”
“Never.” The pair made their way over to the table, Keito took a seat, glancing back up at the stage. He chuckled, leaning back. Kuro was always better at betting than he was. So this was a losing battle for him.
“That’s a fools bet with you. You always win.” He smiled, sighing. “It makes me feel old. But it’s refreshing not having to worry about performing anymore. I miss it sometimes, just not the stress of it all. Do you miss it...Kiryu?”

Keito was SUCH a bother! However, he was a bother that knew what the hell he was speaking about, and he was probably the most qualified to speak about things like this. Tori soon nodded, following Keito with his head down.
“Pasta…” He liked pasta! He knew that much. “Alright, pasta~! Let’s get started then! I like mine with cheese~”
Keito led Tori down the aisles and away from the home goods and more toward the actual food. This was probably going to be a nightmare, but good lord he needed help in the worst way. In light of recent discovery, Tori liked his with cheese. Well, that was easy.
“I can teach you how to cook tortellini…that has cheese in it. It’s also rather easy to make. However, it spoils after a while so you have to watch expiration dates. Dry pasta is different, but you’ll need more effort to cook it if memory serves. What noodles do you like?”

Keito rolled his eyes, leaning away from the ever curious meme lord of the archery field. He avoided meeting their rather curious gaze. He couldn’t believe this was happening to him. He hadn’t done anything to deserve this. “That is absolutely none of your business.”

Mazumi was surprised, to say the least, when the other’s hand had came over their mouth, and they slowly blinked. ONLY a year? Woah… When did Megane-kun have THAT much style?
“Who was it with?” They leaned over, grinning evilly.

Aigis was a wonderful partner, always remembering the things he managed to forget even with his lists and careful planning. Keito always got too in over his head sometimes, and basic things like rest and food would slip his mind. It happened quite often, and he was fortunate to be gifted with partners who could look after him in his error.
With some luck, they managed to find a fairly decent place to at least rest for a few moments. The river water appeared clean enough, and that made him relax. It would be a good time to replenish water supply. It was dangerous to go too long without water after all.
Keito was resting now, sitting on the ground with his notes in his lap. He looked up from his work, snacking on something they had brought with them to help ease his hunger. “Oh, no I’ll be alright. I just needed to sit down for a few moments. Thank you though, we may need them later in battle should it come to that.” He paused, tapping the quill along the parchment. “By my calculations, it shouldn’t be too far away after we cross these hills. Are you still well? I want to make sure you’re still doing alright as well.”
RPG AU with @councilsarrow || continued from here
The sound of his growling stomach was more than enough to confirm her worries. But still, she couldn’t help but feel a small giggle escape her lips. It’s a good thing she has some packed lunch with her.
If that were to ever run out, she can always hunt down some wild animals around. Surely there’ a lot of them with edible meat around.
“Should we start looking for a place to settle down?” After some more walking, the pair decided to rest near a river. It also seemed clean enough for them to drink.
They were wise in selecting a nice place to rest in a monster infested area. But they wouldn’t stay for long. It would be wiser for them to get out of that forest as soon as possible after all.
“Would you also be needing some potions to recover your stamina, Hasumi-san?”
